      Bigotry racism stereotypes all stem from natural ability to discern our environments what racism is weaponizing natural human behavior. Its obvious that people have different skin colors cultures etc. But what someone did was take our innate fears of unknown and our ego and desire to be great and turn it into a weapon to justify taking from others for the benefits of one

      Everyone claims the Disney Avengers Movies were better then the X-Men ones by Fox,
      & makes it out like the Avengers are better then the X-Men now, but in reality?
      All they really want is more X-Men, & now that Disney is going to buy & own the X-Men rights,
      now all the Fans are going to forget about the Avengers, & just care about only one thing?
      The X-Men, lOl… Because that is all they really want, hahahahhaaaaaaa… ^_-

      You talking about the Stealing of things from DC or vise versa, or from other Movies & Comic Characters? Things like that?
      How Deadpool, Deathstroke, & Ravager all look similar?
      I don't really see them as the Same character... I find their each unique, you can go & say or see &
      think they are the same, just simply because of a piece of clothing, or the way they act is similar in Design...
      But I find them similar, but yet also different in a way... ~_~
      Deathstroke or Slade is to me a Villain who looks like & orange & Black version of Deadpool, but, but?
      He uses Weapons & Gagets to kill, & does everything in his power to do so, he is a sinister Villain who is not to be taken lightly...
      So far, I've seen him face the Titans mainly Robin, Batman, & Green Arrow... He's also Serious...
      ---------------------------------
      Deadpool however? We'll be not only looks like Deathstroke, uses Gadgets & Weapons, but he originally had
      Teleportation, & later gets Wolverine's Healing, as well has he completely Defies all logic, I mean, he just
      does whatever, whenever, however, even if that means altering time & space, he's just one of those, I dunno,
      Unknown Types, lOl… He's also a Mouth Full of can't sht up... lOl…
      ---------------------------------
      Ravager, we'll hes more old school from like 80's or earlier Generations... He's got this bad attitude vibe going on, oO
      He wears that whole Trench coat thing some Characters go around with along with a Utility Belt, & has futuristic blasters...
      The Guns are his only real type of Futuristic things about him... & his mask makes him look more like a burgler or Klown, or Bank Robber...
      Major Differences?
      Deathstroke is that iconic Villain to some chars with a Suit & Mask...
      Deadpool is that 1 thing that is wrong with the Universe, that just can't settle down or find a place in it without ruining it, lOl
      Ravager is that old school Punk with a Coat, Mask, & Gun, o_@
      --------------------------------------
      See? They aren't technically the same, they have stuff the same, yet, but still not completely the same characters, o_@

There's a dissonance between the X-Men's primary theme and a group of white kids who could all pass as average people.

    • @kilmcm45
      @kilmcm45 9 лет назад +2

      comicbookgirl19 Just playing devils advocate for a tick....You talk about human's fear of mutants being this totally bigoted perspective...and in this real world of ours that generally holds, however, in the Marvel Multiverse, Mutants are a threat to the well being of the general public....a homosexual isn't likely to lose concentration...have...say a midlife crisis...and whoopsie...Storm just obliterated the planet because she was in a grumpy mood...which if I'm not mistaken is a reality for her...this is why Xavier always does those shady moves, like putting mental blocks inside of Jean Greys mind, to prevent full access to her potentially devastating powers. He acknolwadges that some mutants have powers, that if brought to light of public scrutiny, would set his peaceful coexistence efforts back....at least a decade or two. He puts the wellfare for the mutant population ahead of the individuals right to free will. Which when you get down to it is the basis for the argument FOR mutant oppression. Again I am playing devils advocate but, I think it's important to address these issues from every angle. I belive the symbolism in mutant oppression is more profound that that of drawing parallels between it and racism, or other civil rights issues. I think you could think of the artsy misfit kids that never seem to fit into anyone peer group in highschool. The ones who...while exploring different subcultures and identity roles...don't manage to find a neat little box to place themselves within. I didn't know if if I was punk, goth, or a hippy....I just knew I liked a lot of music and liked to dress flamboyantly (I'm straight...not that it matters...just wanted to be clear on the term flamboyant)...a group of friends and I...visual artists, poets, like myself, and musicians formed a school club after one of our numbers commited suicide...two ore followed her that year and it wasn't long before trailer park mothers with their behive-1970's hair, were having meetings about us...and dragging the teacher that helped me organize our meetings and performances in for questioning (even accusing her of cheating on her husband...with another teacher on school grounds...all to try to shut us down...so I made a ton of friends of Xavier T-shirts wth the X-Men logo and that is what I mean about X-Men being about more than just bigotry and ignorance...while still examining what a threat seems like to a white power nut....to a skinhead...a non-white....non-Christian...non-straight, person...is just as dangerous as the Scarlet Witch on her worst day of pathological instability....really wonder what your thoughts are on these comments...so, assuming I haven't already lost you to whimsy...thank for reading and I look forward to your opinion.

      TheMaximvs these videos DO serve a function, and so what if she's not curing cancer, she's a comic lover who took the time to explain the convoluted history of these characters to people that only know the movie versions of these characters. There is so much history behind them that the films can't possibly go into.

    • @billny33
      @billny33 6 лет назад +4

      TheMaximvs the whole point of this video is that THE FICTIONAL PROPERTY OF THE X-MEN HAS DONE SHIT FOR THE WORLD! The entire goal of their story, aside from giving great entertainment and storyline is to enlighten readers on the evils of prejudice and bigotry, which is so very present in this world today as it was then. The devoted fans of the X-Men should be more likely recognize these evils when they see them in the world and identify them and understand the right thing to do. And this girl here understands that very well and is expressing that in this video with great enthusiasm and clarity, which maybe you just didn't watch, or didn't get. So I'm not sure why you're even here, bro.

    While I hugely respect all the effort you put into this very eloquent, cohesive and well-edited video, the fact that we NEED these explanations to understand comic book continuity is also the reason why I will NEVER start reading super hero comics. 60 years of continuity with a bajillion retcons, crossovers and event comics are just too much. Good stories need to end. Yet they just keep piling and piling everything on top of each other until it collapses under its own weight. I can't get into this. But I WILL keep watching these videos. :)

    • @domi_marshal
      @domi_marshal 9 лет назад +6

      SilverAnicore Everyone thinks that at the beginning, but it gets easier) You can always use Marvel Wiki and other sources if you want to just know whos who and what happened. Comics are like a never ending tv series))) And its awesome

    • @marth354
      @marth354 9 лет назад +1

      SilverAnicore Well it might be a bit easier come this fall post secret wars. It depends on how well they condense and if they retell origins afterwards. If they do then that'll be the new baseline to start from. And with Dc they've already done that with the new 52 and previous crises so if you're looking for something with less continuity to sift though that could be an option for you.

    • @Likuzaim
      @Likuzaim 9 лет назад +2

    • @Bloggerboy1000
      @Bloggerboy1000 9 лет назад +5

      Personnally I can't understand this mentality. When I got into comics I was immediately blown away by the rich history. Characters had decades worth of adventures (with beginnings and endings) behind them. One book made you care for characters appearing in another book which lead you to discover another great book and so on. If something was bad, you just ignored it and discovered a dozen other great things.
      Videos such as these and the internet in general should not make continuity a big issue anymore.

    This may be my opinion, but I've never liked the cat version of Beast. His original blue design had enough abnormality to it that he looked nonhuman but he still had a kind, welcoming face that matched his personality. Cat Beat's face always looked angry and bitter to me and that really turned me off to the whole design.

    Having started to read the original comics I feel like this overview kinda skips over the fact that a lot of what she was talking about as far as the minority allegory would come a little later. Most of the original problems where mutants that themselves decided they were better than anyone else, and a lot of people loved the X-men after they beaten Magneto the first time. And Magneto didn't really have his backstory yet. It would be only after the Sentinels were revealed that the idea of human enemies would start changing the ideas of the X-men. And I think Charles and Magneto being allegories is a bit of a stretch at this time.

    • @essaywhu
      @essaywhu 4 года назад +4

      Silver M21 you’re correct that it’s a stretch in the beginning but Stan Lee still claims it was supposed to be an allegory... To be honest, I don’t think his stories in this book were anywhere near as good as his work in Fantastic Four or Spider-Man, but his issues were better than most of the Roy Thomas and other issues of the Silver Age X-men era. To me, it didn’t get really good until Giant-Size #1. The best thing you could say about Lee and Kirby’s run is they created so many classic characters. It wouldn’t be until later that they were written very well.

      if its her opinion that it does complement her voice then whats it to you to tell him differently, its his opinion people interprets things differently and your view isnt always the right view, you act like a douche bag to almost everyone that replied to your comment, being a smart ass and condescending is no way to act to people specially thoughs who where looking for a nice discussion and to synthesis. also manumitier was just trying to add some comedic affect to the situation and you again act like a rude piece of shit, but im not gonna get to worked up about it i know sooner or later you will forget that you are not behind your keyboard and say the wrong thing to the wrong person, and hopefully realize that the way we talk to one another actually has affect on our day to day life. your opinion isnt always others and there is no need to break it down to a science just to try and prove that your correct, as i said people perceive things differently being a douche doesnt change a thing.

    Behind the scene, the idea of mutants having been born with there powers came up when Stan Lee ran out of ideas for more original ways of getting super powers. There's like so many ways how people get there hands on radiations or other crap. So basically Stan Lee was lazy, but whatever works.

    As an avid X-Men fan this video was amazing. Great history, information, and editing. Absolutely loved this! Would recommend this to any newcomer who needs a fast crash course on the X-Men. Truly a legendary comic franchise! The best imo.

    I am actually old enough to have had and read all the original X-Men, the reprints, and the new team. I think you did an X-cellent job on this in-depth look into my favorite mutants. Claremont and Byrne were my favorite creative team. I can't wait to see your take on their run.

    This is the most amazing video ever made like it. All the depth and details from history. I hate that it took us all over 3 years to find this.

    OMG - I highly admire the way you convey and relate the real hardcore story of Marvel's X-Men to the social-political movements. Makes me tear out of joy. You inspire me. Thank you much for sharing

    I enjoyed this video... But I really dislike when people (usually white) boil down Malcolm X to media stereotypes like "he hated white people." Malcolm and Martin had a lot more in common then not. His last year involved him going to places like Oxford letting everyone know the horrible conditions of blacks in America. Telling ALL folks that they need to fight for freedom.

    Comic Book Girl 19, I appreciate you understanding the gravity of what has been going on in this country for only a few short decades. I feel the same way you do. I grew up in the 80's being born in 1976 and fortunately didn't have to go through the horrors of what people from a older generation had to go through. it was still tough having to deal with some racism being a African American man, but fortunately I lived up north in New York in my younger years as a child. I hope more people that are "millenials" will acknowledge how the country was just a few decades ago and appreciate what they have now, although there is still plenty of work to still be done. Thanks

      Constructive criticism: It sounds good in my headphones, but imagine on my stereo it'd be waking people up and I wouldn't watch at at night. Love the video though! :)

    The Giant-Size X-Men was my re-introduction to the world of superhero comics as an adult. A friend gave me a back copy in 1981 when I was in college, and I was hooked. Afterwards I ate up the X-Men, New Mutants, Avengers and New Teen Titans for several years. Most Saturday afternoons you'd see me in the Student Union Cafe, reading old and new issues over coffee, just like the girl in the A-Ha video "Take On Me". Sadly, no one pulled me into the comics, though!

    one thing people forget is that after malcolm x went to mecca he calmed down a lot, and a lot of the things that were attributed to malcolm x were not his doing.

      +naturalistmind EXACTLY! The popular/group think media has let people believe otherwise. If you learn about him, independently, you learn that he had every reason to feel how he felt because the times and the actions of many "non-mutants" validated his resentments and even still, towards the end of his life he saw another path

    Not necessarily into comics, but loved this documentary. Very interesting, X-Men characters are great. I only watched the tv series in the late 80's early 90's. Malcom X and Dr.King info...love it
