Beautiful locomotives, these T18 / baureihe 78. interresting look at märklin's early attempts on factory-weathering (wich I guess is not everyones cup of tea). a little addition to your excellent prototype-overview: about 10 years after the end of the official construction period, the eutin-lübecker-eisenbahn had two more machines of this type built by Henschel.
Wonderful stories about the prototype, history and the model. New things learnt today, e.g. the situation in the French network. As far as we have noticed, no rail modeller does go as far as you. The YT channel 'Sam's Trains' does but it's about British OO locos and the concept of that channel is completely different; a combination of hilarity, community, reviews, history and stories. The concept of your Märklin channel is truly unique. Very intricate, relaxing, helpful, quality minded, and devoted to the 1980s era of M. We are surprised seeing M's outstanding weathering job of 1986. Once again, it shows that M went for pure quality in everything. Wonderful 🙂
Given the topic and the channel language, the majority of the audience is unlikely to be too familiar with Märklin and less so with the European prototypes, so context information is important, even if given in a succint way. A few factoids dropped here and there help too. The structure of the channel and videos are based on feedback received over time, and I try to feature stuff only when I feel my contribution would be of value... For example, I will never do a "track cleaning", "model railways are dying" type of video... I am not sure about the quallity of the weathering on the 3117 to be honest, these were early days, and standards have evolved greatly since, but it looks the part if you don't look too close 😀
Same here - I'm British and collect Märklin Z and HO, as well as other systems from Europe. Nowhere else can I find this sort of information on the prototypes and Märklin's history. Definitely a contender for the best channel on RUclips.
Great links! thanks for explaining the different versions, I will check tomorrow which one i have! The packaging is a bit poor with the cut-out of the standard foam, marklin could have done better!
I had this model some years ago. I made it digital with a ESU decoder. But it run not very well. Still the T18 together with the Gt 2x4/4 (Br96) are my favorite steamers. At the moment only the 37073 is in my collection.
@@The3rdRail if I can find this model again, I surely buy it once more. You can find those patiniertes model often at modeltrain shows in Germany and the Netherlands. I do have an fliegenden hamburger 37773 which is also patinierd from the factory. Btw I love the background stories of these old steamers👍

Small omission on my side indeed :) Thanks for the visit!

Thanks! This means a lot to me.
Lovely. The weathering really appears to be done by hand, making this model very unique. I continue to be surprised by what is out there!
Thank you very much!
Nice locomotive and thanks for sharing the prototype history! Enjoy ;-) Bo
Thanks for the visit! Cheers
Always a pleasure to see your latest acquisitions with your detailed observations 😊
Glad you like them!

Thanks! That is why I think this was done ad-hoc to solve an over production issue... But I am guessing, Merci pour ta visite! Bon Dimanche!

Nice video. 🙋🏻♂️😁😁👍👍
Thanks for the visit
Omni soit qui mal y pense is the motto of the garter order but why in a French train?
Yes I am aware (I live in the UK😉), hence my question in the video: Why did Marklin use this sentence for this occasion (Press presentation in 1986)?
Looks great.
Thanks!
Received? Gift for father's day?
Nice lok. I have a 37075 which I will sell.
Nice week end.
nope... Thanks for the visit.

Honni soit qui mal y pense ça l'est! On ne s'attendrait pas à tel effort amateur de la part du coureur de tête du modélisme ferroviaire
