Thank you for finally taking a lot of the mystery out of the floppy drive! Anything beyond a simple cleaning always felt like you (I) were flirting with disaster. But your video really explains and shows the process. Glad you like the gift! Seeing PiMiga run so awesome on it makes me want it back now. LOL!
Very good practical advice on Amiga floppy drives without the "techie jargon". Useful hints and tips as always. Just sent you a very modest gift, enjoy a coffee on me. Thank you.
"The readme file which nobody reads" as I'm looking thru it trying to find what version of Pimiga4 I've got... Nope, not in there. Thanks Chris, I really appreciate what you do!
Merry Christmas, Chris. I learned today, that you don't try to mold a brick of gold with a sledge hammer! I didn't have the courage to do my floppy drives, but I do now. I also appreciated the bit on identifying the correct floppy drive numbers for the Amiga.
I never had to fix a floppy, but after looking at your video it might be a good idea to lube the old drives. I have the PiMiga4 in my Pi 400, but I should also give it a try in my Mac Mini 2009. Thanks for explaining and showing how to fix everything Commodore over the years.
Amiga Testkit is great. You use an older version here, starting 1.19 it has some more granual tests for floppy drives, like ability to move per track in stead of skipping 40 tracks. I usually use my scope to finetune the signal. There's always some testpins on the drive that expose the head signal. Happy holidays to you Chris!
Hi Chris, Nice job what you did on that floppy drive and mac. I wish you and your family happy holidays and a great 2025! Greetings from Steven from the Netherlands
@ChrisEdwardsRestoration Chris you do soooo much great Things to the Amiga Community. You deserve much more. Sorry, i must correct the Text. It takes a while. I think i must send you more Money. You are the best OS Developer in the whole world!! I Luv ya man❤️💋
I replaced drive belt in a roctec Amiga external floppy drive and the head wouldn’t move down to the disk surface and I think your comments at @15:20 will help me resolve my issue
Hoppes is a wonderful thing and selling themselves short not making it into a cologne. My bench at the office has the aroma of it for reasons and considered putting it in one of those little scented oil warmers. If anything be nice and warm when I need it.
the floppy cable song is a favorite of mine too, that was on the experimental album "diabolus en musica" by slayer right? its def not from south of heaven, or seasons/abyss! lol. cool video thanks!
Slick! Maybe the big apple is giving decent trade in values on their older minis on new mac minis cause they don't want other OSes running on their golden hardware, just approved mac eco-system stuff. Or other supply issues on the trade-ins. Who knows?
I have an old Mitsumi D357T2 that's not working. I think it came from my 4000 but it's 25 years since I replaced it with a HD floppy so I'm not quite sure. It has no LED so that makes me unsure, but I kept it in the box that my HD floppy came in so, really have no idea. Would like to get it fixed but really don't know where to begin.
Chris, I have many floppy cable. I need only one empty (without floppy) case of external amiga floppy with cable to Amiga port. We can excange if you have what I need.
hello do you do smaller PiMIGA images for people that don't want all the bloat? such as 32gb ones? as this is 128gb isn't it? some people don't want doom, quake etc. etc. which run better directly on the pi rather than through amiga emulation
because i released them at different times for different systems. the universal all in one was a long project that took me a year. then the pi5 came out as soon as it was all finished. so i made a second split version for people with pi5 support in that one. the original universal does not have pi5, so that is why they are linked seperatly, because they are seperate videos. as for searching "all" my videos, no there is a search feature just type pimiga you will see them all. It really is easy to find as it's the most recent. Sorry you anger so easy.
@@ChrisEdwardsRestorationHow is anyone supposed to know there is a separate video with "split" version unless you tell them? They automatically have to just know!? Newcomers won't know you have multiple videos. And now I've found that one you've put BOTH torrent links in that video, full and split! So why not put both links in this one!?
wouldnt wd40 ruin it as a degreaser? or do you have to use it to break some rust then re lubricate after the wd40 dries? what is the best lubricant for longevity? the white lithium grease?
@ thanks I’m working on an old d530 p4 and just saw this “pimiga” mentioned and so I’m off and running as I may have finally found a use for this 22year old tower. Thanks! I’m rewatching your old tutorial now! I appreciate your efforts that is for sure!

Chris,,,,dont know much about Pimiga but does the RJ-45 (Ethernet) on this Mac Mini create network device on your network?
It gets an ip if thats what you mean. And i can browse my network on the linux side
Gun oil is rough, I think they are meant to remove brass/copper residues too.
I’ve been using it for years. It works great.
Do you have PayPal?

You can use the white lithium grease for the worm gear for the bushing or bearing a number two household oil or what I use
