Hey everyone, thank you so much for watching! Please consider subscribing to the channel. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all of you! I hope you have a wonderful time with loved ones! 🦃❤🍂
Jesse, I saw this classic comedy in the theatre when it came out. I'll never forget the huge laughs from the whole audience. The scene that got the biggest longest laugh was the pair waking up in a cuddle, and Del saying his hand was between two pillows. The only other films I've seen that had such big laughs from an audience are Dumb and Dumber and Team America. Great watch, Jesse, thanks! Happy Thanksgiving! 😁
That is such a special movie. It was great to see you react with laughter, clapping and touched with all the john Hughes cues. The music, the editing, two great actors. Love candy. Awesome reaction 👌🏽
This is one I'll definitely be watching every Thanksgiving going forward! It got my into the Holiday spirit, and I have family coming over in a few hours and just feel so excited :)
After John Candy's passing, the freeze-frame on his smile at the end feels like a tribute to a comedy great 😭 Candy plays a loveable goofball in most of his movies and Del may be one of his most heartfelt perfomances. Though he's kind of a pest, the way Del keeps smiling through his troubles makes me want to give him a big hug and invite him for dinner.
My heart sank when I looked up the cast after finishing the movie and see that he passed in 1994. I'm looking forward to seeing more of his performances. It's funny you mention that because I could feel his pain and heartache behind that "Outgoing and loud facade". I love how they're forever friendship is sealed. Neal would've ran from him just a few days before, but now he has a friend/brother for life
Why do people keep saying that? This movie came out in 1987. After this he was in The Great Outdoors (1988), Uncle Buck (1989), Cool Runnings (1993). That's not his last appearance
My heart sank when I looked up the cast after finishing the film and seeing that he passed in 1994. Still so damn young, and it was sad to see the struggles he had going on.
This film got me in the Holiday spirit for sure! It was so hard to edit the reaction because I kept laughing throughout, and I was like "Okay focus, you gotta get this uploaded by Thanksgiving" lol! A fun and feel-good film that I'll watch every Thanksgiving going forward. I can't wait to see more John Hughes
In eleven days I will have been without my wife for a year, this Thanksgiving has been hard, thank you for all you do. It's just a RUclips video but it has helped me get through the day.
I'm terribly sorry to hear about your wife! She'll always live on in your heart. And those memories with the love of your life will live on through you. I hope you continue to heal my friend. It's my pleasure to have brough a little happiness to your day.
It was such a pleasant surprise to see how emotional it was by the end. I love how Neal has embraced Del and doesn't want to see goodbye to him now. A beautiful ending!
This is my 83 yo Dad's FAVORITE movie and John Candy was THE GOAT period final end of sentence. The Great Outdoors though is IMHO John Candy's greatest masterpiece of a performance ... if Mozart had been a comedian instead of a composer even he'd have wanted to grow up to be John Candy.
That definitely makes sense because when this film came out, your dad was close in age to these guys and it probably resonated with him a great deal. I didn't expect this "comedy" film to pull at my heart strings the way it did. It got me thinking about my wife and how I need to cherish her and family. I really enjoyed how John Candy made me want to punch him, laugh with him, and hug him all in the same movie. An amazing talent for sure!
Haha! I love that rental car scene! I lost count of the F-bombs after the first 5. So hilarious how even the lady got her f-bomb in there at the end of that interaction 😂
@@jessebatres6895 hey it's a reaction to Trains, Planes and Automobiles reaction, why should there be a reason not to be thankful? that said and done thanks, have a great holiday yourself.
they didn't show it in the movie but in the script the wife thought that Steve martins char was seeing some one else until the end that she sees that there was a del that steve was talking about which made here happy
I can't remember what the exact temperature when my friends and I got into the back of a pickup truck on that cold ass day. How cold was it? Cold as fuck lol! Good memories though just heading off in the back of some pickups.
The wrong way scene is comedy genius from start to finish. The hilarious climax with John Candy laughing in a devil costume is perfect comedic editing.
The teacher walked into class one day and said, " l can't be bothered teaching today", and left again. Only to return with a projector and screen and we watched this. BEST CLASS EVER. 😂
Same here! I hated working the holidays because I was a waiter at a hotel restaurant during my college years and it was a complete waste a time. Basically no tips because it was dead.
And I'm completing my last class for my Masters in Computer Science. I'm one of the biggest nerds out there lol! But my wife said I'm not allowed to go to school anymore after I wrap this one up 😂 Good thing is that RUclips will keep my mind occupied for the foreseeable future so I'm excited for it :) Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m really pleased you enjoyed this movie, it’s certainly one of my favourites . These two actors were made for this film and I have to say the ending always gets to me.
There are (or were) yellow cabs all over Manhattan, that doesn't mean they're available for hire, especially during rush hour which is why Kevin Bacon and Steve Martin were running for that one particular cab. In fact, if you look at all the cabs in the background, none of them have their light (indicating they're available) on. That was the light that lit up when Kevin and Steve saw the cab. What a GREAT reaction to this! I really enjoyed watching this with you. Thank you for making it.
Oh man, I can only imagine all the beatdowns and arguments during that time in Manhattan! That makes more sense now for sure! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction! This had my feelings going all over the place due to the amazing performances and great chemistry between the actors. I'm looking forward to seeing more of their work in future reactions :)
I laughed several times watching this movie, but one of my favorite bits was when Owen told them “her first baby come out sideways, she didn’t scream er nothin”. 😄
Thanks so much Gavin! We're close to eating some dinner now, and I've eaten basically nothing all day so I can really enjoy the feast lol! I hope all is well with you and your family! :)

My first comment is about the decorations I'm in love!! I love it so much! Are you going to put some small lights on the edge of where your decorations are‽‽ OMG you knew I'd be the one looking for the cups and decorations I loveee it all. I actually collect snow globes. 🔮❄️☃️🎄🎁🍵
Happy Thanksgiving Letha!!! I tried looking for some lights, but I'm going to head back this weekend to find something small I can put up. I might look up some stuff online as well :) I almost forgot to showcase the cup and talk about it, but then I thought of you and was like "Oh grab the cup and show it" lol! Funny enough, this is only the second snow globe I have. Would love to get a few for every season ❤❄🎁
A lot of good memories for sure, and also some terrible scary ones hahaha! I remember once being packed in one with a lot of friends and a cop was nearby so we all laid down on top of each other to hide 😂😂
46th like! I too am in Dallas but, enough about me! Loved this movie since I was a kid. It's a seasonal watch for me. Never gets old. Last year they released a new version with bonus footage which I haven't seen yet. My understanding is that it helps to answer for some of the stuff in the original release. It breaks the heart and the head to learn that Hughes has hours of footage that is likely in such bad condition that it's impossible to restore. I would think with the technology out now, nothing is impossible. Don't know who has enough love to want to get that done.
Thank you so much for the like Zoe! This will be a regular watch for me as well :) I'll have to checkout that new version as well. And true, perhaps someone takes on that projects and releases some updated versions. I initially had The Breakfast Club as my next John Hughes film, but I'm going to check out National Lampoons Vacation so I can watch Christmas vacation later in December :)
As a 70s kid i was blessed to catch most Hughes' flicks in the theater as a teenager, starting with his 2 hits as a writer before directing, "Mr. Mom" & "National Lampoon's Vacation". Making him my 2nd fave director behind, of course, Stanley Kubbrick. "Sixteen Candles" his best imo. I have to say, almost beg here😅, if you haven't seen "National Lampoon's Vacation" PLEASE watch it before you do "Christmas Vacation", if you havent & are planning to!!! Everyone adores it because it was on cable every year for decades, so kids grew up on it. But it's not nearly as good as an adult if you haven't seen the first. Clark is silly af & you won't get the inside jokes & references. Every Christmas there's always reactors whose audience wants "Christmas Vacation", but then most don't ever care to watch the rest of Vacations. It's a shame. This gonna be good. Happy Holidays, brother! See ya. ✌️🎅❤
Thank you so much for the heads up on "National Lampoons Vacation"! I had Christmas Vacation on my list for December, so I'm probably gonna go ahead and watch "National Lampoons Vacation" this weekend! Wooooof again thank you so much for the heads up on that ❤ Hope you have a great Holiday season my friend!!
@jessebatres6895 just watched, & as usual, great job. Some of us look forward to these classic reactions. Didn't know you from Dallas. "All my ex's live in Texas." 🎶 😅 I lived there twice. In 1990 I was 19, my first time living outside of Nashville. Received a life lesson/got robbed straight off the bus!😅 Wound up living in a weekly motel on seediest street off downtown(?) till my girlfriend's Mexican stepdad took us out to Frisco. I worked on his construction crew sun up till sundown Mon-Sat. We partied as hard we worked. Sundays we went to his family's ranch where kids were playing everywhere, with chickens & goats running around, as the women made homemade tomales, etc. It was fukn beatiful. But there were no trains or busses to anywhere so i had to go. Then i lived in a nice Dallas suburb at the Bella Villa apartments with a gal in the winter of '96 before Seattle called. Some good & wild memories in '90s Texas!🤘😎 See ya ....oh! Just realized. Her stepdad was named "Jesse"!!!😅
Such amazing chemistry with these two, the rent a car scene has to be one of the funniest scenes in movie history I still laugh just as hard! John Hughes is one of my favorite directors, love all his movies, so many you have to see! John Candy always can make you smile, Uncle Buck, Cool Runnings are great films Steve Martin is a comic genius check out The Jerk it's hilarious Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Happy Thanksgiving Lauren!!! These two were unbelievable together! I love the messages behind the film and it got me into the holiday spirit. It's hilarious to think how Del could've simply slowed the car down and pulled over, but he just kept trying to get free 😂 Plus that moment that Neal visualizes him as the devil LOL!! I'll be checking out all those films for sure! I need more of these two guys and John Hughes
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction :) I watch a variety of genres and I look forward to seeing more of John Hughes work. I've got several Tom Hanks films on my list and that is one I might have to add. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Watching reactions to this classic its interesting to see when people stop laughing and start feeling empathy with Del, when Neil is roasting him. Women get to it faster than guys. The thing about the roast is that even though Del was very annoying, he was always very nice to Neil. Neil could have told him that his actions were annoying but instead he went full on and attacked his character and made fun of him. Del didn't steal his cab. The lawyer had the cab, then Neil paid the lawyer and meanwhile the cab driver got tired of waiting and took off with Del instead. The scene with all the F words really stands out. Watch how this scene was partially improvised and how he got the idea for the movie.
Good pick Jesse! Gus’s son is straight out the backwoods of Hillbilly’sville 😂 A couple of similar comedies - What About Bob? (1991) and Clockwise (1986)! Happy thanksgiving!
That guy was hilarious in such a small role! I'd feel concerned to turn my back on him lol! Hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving and that you enjoy the Holidays!! :)
