They sold the weight of the train during the crash because they used and derailed a real train. It's still there to this day. The entire sequence is a combo of bluescreen, models, forced perspective shots and an actual real train crashing. Edit: Also? Did ya notice the cop Sykes shoots in the L-train fight is in fact the actor who played the Janitor on Scrubs? They even made a gag episode about it. 😁
Such a good example of a movie where the Protagonist, the Antagonist, and the Villain are all separate people, and the protagonist and antagonist are both likable.
One of the things I love about this is that it is a chase between two highly competent people. Tommy Lee Jones is an antagonist to Ford, but he isn't a villain. He is just doing his job and doing it well. So many chases go to the hero villain narrative or have one of them be bumbling and incompetent. Here you are kind of rooting for both sides.
Love me some Harrison Ford! Glad to be along for this adventure! I highly recommend Air Force One. It's another phenomenal classic with Harrison as the lead once again. So good!
In 1963 the final episode of The Fugitive was watched by 78 million people, including me. At the time, it was the largest TV audience ever. It was a popular show followed by an even more popular movie.
As a lifelong Chicagoan, I was so happy to see the city shown off so well here! Not just the touristy locations like downtown, but the neighborhoods. IIRC, they filmed Kimball’s rented room in the Back of the Yards, and the killer’s place was in Pullman. Kimball’s landlady is very much like most of the older Polish ladies that I knew in the 1990s in my neighborhood just west of Little Warsaw (Belmont/Central). The director’s choice to use actual Chicago reporters is great, too. Seeing John Drummond in his signature winter hat makes me nostalgically happy.
It's awesome to see Cook County represented in film. I'm from just a bit north of Chicago and always feel a little like home when I watch The Fugitive. Those gray skies and cold northern air just can't be faked. :D
Julianne Moore, Jane Lynch, Joe Pantoliano, Harrison Ford, Sela Ward, and Tommy Lee Jones, such a great cast. What Lies Beneath us a good Harrison Ford movie that has spooky vibes to it
They only got 1 take on the train wreck. They used 21 cameras. The wreck is still there in North Carolina if you park on the highway and walk through the woods you can View it.😊
Yeah she had Traumatic Brain Injury from the violence rendered by the killer already, so she couldn't think /speak as succinctly & coherently as normal. She knew Richard was coming home, heard him in the middle of the 911 phone call, & probably hoped he could get to her quicker than anyone else to rescue her. So her attention was diverted from the 911 operator to Richard midway.
I loved the 1960’s series The Fugitive starring David Jansen as Dr. Richard Kimball. The final episode was the most watched tv show in history for nearly 20 years after it aired. It’s still in the top five
FYI. Guns work just fine after being submerged in water. Cartridges are waterproof. Glock pistols are famous for being able to handle water and mud and still work afterwards.
Many people noted the insanely high tv ratings for the final episode of the 60s series. The more interesting fact to me is that the final episode was the first ever planned series finale. Sindicated TV series would normally just continue their stories through the end. Studios thought that a finale would ruin the ability to show reruns. After 5 years though, the writers were insistent that Kimble's search for his wife's killer could not end without a resolution. Every show that builds to a finale owes a thanks to the Fugitive for showing that it could be done.
A LOT of reactors ask some variation of the same question ya'all did: "why kill Kimble's wife?" when nichols set the plan in motion, Kimble was supposed to be IN the apartment when sykes was there to kill HIM (and probably his wife so as to eliminate the only witness). Kimble unexpectedly being called in to the hospital to help on a surgery inadvertently saved his life.
5:48 - "Richard (calling out her husband), he's (the killer) trying to kill me ..." But if you catch it wrongly, sounds like Richard is the one trying to kill her.
It's not.. and the lawyer took advantage of this.. trying get to jury to convict him if the lawyer had read the coroner report he would've realized "she had suffered through head trauma" and if a real detective would've looked the way she laying at the moment of her death, she was looking directly at Richards photograph in her line-of-vision when she last spoke on the phone.. But the movie scene was left as ambiguous and that's why the lawyer did what he did 😢
This was based on the television series The Fugitive that was in the mid sixties. Gerard chased Dr. Kimble for five years. It was the most popular series at the time.
Awe thanks for the shoutout! I actually never came across this movie, so it was really entertaining and the fact it felt like a cat and mouse game with having a few close calls was great! I honestly miss Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford in movies, 90s movie just hit different.
Thank you for all the love and support! It truly means a lot to us ❤️ This was a hell of a ride from start to finish. They do such a great job at making the audience feel invested in a matter of minutes.
One of the best movies, it's a fantastic screenplay, very tight script & story that was well acted with great pacing and interesting puzzle to solve without being too convoluted. One of my favourites for sure. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this, and the other 90s action thriller flicks. I can't remember which films you've done now, but two 90s find I'd highly recommend is Fargo by the Coen Brothers and Face Off by John Woo (with Travolta & Cage) - the former is just a fantastic story & feel, the latter a perfect 90s action blockbuster 😁
I saw The Fugitive in the theater as a kid and an instant classic. One of the great 90s films I can say I am always grateful to have experienced when it came out among many others. ‘86 baby here!
Guys, I dunno if y’all have watched The Ling Kiss Goodnight with Gina Davis and Samuel L Jackson but it is such a banger of an action movie and it has, imo, the best female assassin in a movie ever. Not superhuman. She gets her butt kicked but she does not give up. Seriously, it’s such a classic and it takes place during the holiday season so it’s the perfect movie to react to during this time. You won’t be disappointed. Gina Davis was such a badass back then.
"Harrison...Harisson Ford... Tommy Lee.." Great reaction from the very beginning of the film, guys!) When watch as a child, that very phrase of Tommy Lee Jones is very funny)
This was one of the best movies of their careers for Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones, and Tommy Lee Jones won the Oscar for best supporting actor in a year, in which that category was absolutely stacked with worthy performances
The Fugitive had many elements of your typical 90's thriller, but what REALLY makes it shine is how intelligent the Marshalls are and Kimbal is only just a few steps ahead. The tension is incredibly effective.
As a former Chicagoan I have a real soft spot for films that showcase 'my' city. So many locations that I know so well. --- Oh, and the movie is amazing, too!! LOL
I’m a sucker for off screen quotes and this movie has one of my favorites. When Joey Pants asks “why you always yelling at me?” Tommy Lee yells at the next person who comes up and all you hear is “atta boy!” Lmao
I love every moment where Richard encounters the police, in the hospital, the 2 moments with the police cars and the DEA turning up at that house. Those moments are so tense
Andreus Katsulas (the one armed man), was one of my favorite actors as a kid. Classically trained for stage, and could be a great villain or hero. That type of acting training for film seems to have gone on the wayside these days I feel.
One of his absolute best performances was as G'Kar on the highly acclaimed series Babylon 5. Easily as good if not better than Star Trek, but never got the love and respect from the studio it deserved.
One of the greatest movies to be based on an old TV show from the 60's, which itself is equally legendary. My dad and I are fans of both the original 1963-1967 series (with David Janssen as Richard Kimble, and Barry Morse as Sam Gerrard), and this film.
Such a fun reaction! I watched this movie with my parents when I was a kid. Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford are both so cool. It's one of my favorite movies
Hell yes, Ari & Denise!! This is one of my all-time favourite thrillers. Seen it so many times. Glad you both reacted to this one. TRIVIA: Julianne Moore was supposed to have a larger role as Richard's love interest but the writers decide against it because they felt it would take away from his grieving for his dead wife. Btw, I would also recommend Air Force One (1997), for more Harrison Ford awesomeness.
love the 90's era of media. everything was so experimental and imo movies back then relied so much more on story line then cgi or graphics. not saying all newer movies rely on that but for some reason those 90's early 2000's movies were just built different. Thank you guys so much for the amazing reactions. another 90's movie you should for sure check out is The Game with Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. hope you all have an amazing day and keep on rocking 🤘
Maaan the 90s and 2000s are just so special! The way they built mystery and tension was just different! Adding The Game to our list, thank you so much for your recommendation!
I love how they used actual Chicago reporters in the initial reporting scene as well as the scenes with the reporters asking questions throughout the film. Added a more realistic image for those that grew up in the Chicagoland area.
DO. NOT. TALK. TO. THE. POLICE. WITHOUT. A. LAWYER. Thats how Richard ends up in prison. The cops are not your friends. They are not trying to help you. They are not trying to "solve the case". They are looking to get home as fast as possible. With that out of the way 😁 Great movie :) LETS GOOOO! 💪😎💪
He would have just looked more guilty if he refused to help the case of his wife's murder, especially the night it happened. No one gets a lawyer when they are a witness to a crime. That's a waste of money.
@@Karamarika "Looking" guilty vs actively assisting your own prosecution is a easy choice. Standing up for your rights (which he would be entitled to do) is not a indication of guilt, nor is it evidence. He should have spoken to a lawyer as soon as the cops showed up and started investigating. Theres a reason the US Justice system has a +90% conviction rate. People think the cops are there to solve crimes. They arent. They're there to find someone to blame ... I recommend @NateTheLawyer here on youtube :) former cop and prosecutor from NYC 😊
And that's how the killer probably got cleared cause very likely the cops didn't even talk or consider him cause they were die hard Richard is the suspect
This movie brings me great memories of watching it growing up during vacation time around Christmas at home, with my family, feeling very safe and warm while seeing Harrison go through it lol Love this movie, the 90s it’s such a great feel for us that grew up then! The music is also something I always remember clearly, that theme melody is stuck in my mind since I first saw the movie. Great reaction!
The Fugitive was huge ABC TV show in the 1960's with a epic climatic ending. They also use the Furtive formula for the Incredible Hulk tv series 1977-81.
I watched this movie for one reason back in the day, Tommy Lee Jones!!! He has been a favorite actor/Hollywood crush of mine since I was 9yo and first watched the tv miniseries “Lonesome Dove” If you guys are in the mood for an EPIC western and have a spare 6 hours & 13 minutes, I highly recommend watching/ reacting to “Lonesome Dove” from 1989. P.s. The Fugitive was an excellent film and everyone involved in the making of it deserves all the praise and recognition they receive. Truly a classic and timeless piece of art. The sequel is more flashy and stylized, but is still a fun watch and worth it just to see the cast do what they do best. I 2nd any suggestions for a reaction to U.S. Marshals. Loved your analysis and reaction as always!!!
Just laughed my a** off watching the "reactors react to mean messages". 😂 I do honestly think most reaction channels are very ridiculous... But since I've watched everything you have seen... Mostly... The thing i like about your channel is the discussion you have after. Its my favorite part of your channel. If i may, there are a few movies I'd like to recommend if you havent seen them... I'm sure i have previously but worth another try. 1. The Next Three Days 2. The Fall (2006) by Tarsem Singh 3. Coherence 4. Monkey Man 5. The Big Sick ... Gotta add "Stranger Than Fiction"... Another hidden gem. Along the emotional lines of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. So, i guess thats 7 recommendations. 😮 Lots of variety in there. Hope you find time for them. All worth the watch.
Haha glad you enjoyed! We honestly appreciate you guys sticking around for the discussion. We love getting to share our thoughts and hear what you guys think as well. Thank you for the suggestions! ❤️
I LOVE this movie. Love love love love love. One of my top 25 favorites of all time, I'd say. It's just so endlessly watchable. Great direction (the guy got this job by making Under Siege, Seagal's best film), great cast, great cinematography, great score, great acting. It's very rare that an action thriller is nominated for the Academy Award for best picture, but this one was. It was also the number one film at the box office for months. Total crowd-pleaser.
The Hunt for Red October also a good cat and mouse film😉 Very good cast and very exciting. And sadly, more current than you think. I would love to see it here.
This movie is like a great beach read. No matter how many times I watch it, I get swept up in it. Harrison Ford is a freaking movie star. James Newton Howard’s score is iconic. It adds so much to the movie as a whole. It IS the quintessential thriller score.
I know you probably will not see this, but I really enjoy the content. I like the fact you enjoy scores, writing, screenplay, and acting. It would be a pleasure to watch you guys react to the “Lonesome Dove” series. It’s one of Tommy Lee Jones best performances. Long but great watch. Thanks again for the content.
6:40 I don't think she was made to say that, more that she heard him come home and was trying to call out to him, saying "Richard, he's trying to kill me"
The Fugitive was a popular tv series in the 60s. This is one of the few movies ever made from a series, the biggest exception to that is Star Trek. Tommy Lee Jones stars in the movie US Marshall that carries this character into a sequel. Air Force One and Patriot Games are really good Harrison Ford movie.
I always felt The Fugitive and Frantic (among others) show some of Harrison Ford's best qualities as an actor: characters being so vulnerable and strong at the same time. You always feel for him in these shitty situations, like if it was you yourself trying to get through it without any super-powers to be the born hero.
The Fugitive is an absolute thrill!!! Harrison Ford was still a big box office star in the 90’s and this is maybe his best role outside of Star Wars/Indiana Jones.
5:50 I took less as "made her say it" and more like she was dying and only half in it and in her last moments was pleading to Richard as in calling weakly for Richard and telling HIM that the intruder is trying to kill her.
Cosmo does have a fantastic point. What possessed him to hang out in the trauma ward? Find what you need and peace out of there. No use sitting around waiting for someone to think you're being sus.
That’s one of the things that make this movie so good and entertaining. On the one hand, you have your protagonist, Kimball, who is trying to evade the law and catch his wife’s killer. And on the other hand, you have U.S. Marshall Gerard who is intent on capturing Kimball. And yet, you find yourself rooting for BOTH of them.
This movie is loosely based on a true story about Sam Sheppard and his wife in Bay Village, Ohio. The creators deny it, but it's mostly there. Still a great movie none the less.
Love this remake of a classic that has become a classic in itself! As a Chicagoland native, it always had some disturbing familiarity - for such an extreme circumstance. 😬 Fun fact: Jane Lynch, who plays the doctor who helps Richard obtain the test results that confirm his RDU-90 theory, is from my little hometown village of Dolton, IL.. The only other famous person from my hometown is former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb.

It reminds me a lot of Les Miserables in that way.
Love me some Harrison Ford! Glad to be along for this adventure! I highly recommend Air Force One. It's another phenomenal classic with Harrison as the lead once again. So good!
We're definitely gonna check out Air Force One, heard great things about it!! Thanks for the recommendation!
100% Also the actor playing the main antagonist is very good)
@@Str52849Gary Oldman❤
Air force one is a good Gary oldman too
I'd add the spiritual sequel to the fugitive, US Marshalls to the list too
In 1963 the final episode of The Fugitive was watched by 78 million people, including me. At the time, it was the largest TV audience ever. It was a popular show followed by an even more popular movie.
David Janssen was fantastic as Kimble in the original TV show!!
The flashback to Denise saying “I like him” was so good.😂😂😂😂
True :D
Also love the real Chicago reporters in it, including (then local) Lester Holt!
Chicago is practically a character in this movie.
Except Illinois is flat. There are no mountains and dam like the one in the movie. Not even the northwestern part of the state is that hilly.
@@paulnelson7525 The train crash and the dam were filmed in one of the Carolinas.
My absolute favorite Tommy Lee Jones performance. Nobody else could play Gerard like him.
I also loved him in The Client which came out around this time.
I also love him in Volcano.
Gerard and Agent K, both GOAT Tommy Lee Jones characters
An Oscar-winning performance. 👍👍👍
The wreck is still there in North Carolina if you park on the highway and walk through the woods you can View it.😊
They didn't make her say it, when she said _'Richard, he's trying to kill me',_ she was talking to Richard, not the police.
90s movies don't overstay their welcome. No sappy drawn out endings.
FYI. Guns work just fine after being submerged in water. Cartridges are waterproof. Glock pistols are famous for being able to handle water and mud and still work afterwards.
I think glocks are designed to get dirty and still fubction. Designed for those in situations were chaos occurs.
Glocks have special spring cups to help drain the water from the firing pin chamber.
Imagine fighting in a modern war if guns didn’t fire when wet…. 😎
You have no idea how much i want more movies with Gerard and his US Marshals
A LOT of reactors ask some variation of the same question ya'all did: "why kill Kimble's wife?"
when nichols set the plan in motion, Kimble was supposed to be IN the apartment when sykes was there to kill HIM (and probably his wife so as to eliminate the only witness). Kimble unexpectedly being called in to the hospital to help on a surgery inadvertently saved his life.
When she said Richard, he's trying to kill me she was telling him
@ I don’t see what that has to do with my comment
5:48 - "Richard (calling out her husband), he's (the killer) trying to kill me ..."
But if you catch it wrongly, sounds like Richard is the one trying to kill her.
It's not.. and the lawyer took advantage of this.. trying get to jury to convict him
if the lawyer had read the coroner report he would've realized "she had suffered through head trauma" and if a real detective would've looked the way she laying at the moment of her death, she was looking directly at Richards photograph in her line-of-vision when she last spoke on the phone..
But the movie scene was left as ambiguous and that's why the lawyer did what he did 😢
The janitor from Scrubs totally acknowledged he is in this movie in a total meta moment
KIMBALL!
"JD, if you tell anyone, I'll kill you." Dang I miss Scrubs
@@TheCarolinaCannonball it's on HULU.
That's DR. Jan Itor to you, buddy
"Working Girl" with Sigourney Weaver & "Regarding Henry" is very underrated, but a favourite of mine.
Love Working Girl!
Agree both are good
30:29 Kimball calls about someone on his list of people with one arm, and the guy was arrested for ARMED robbery always makes me smile.
I've seen this movie a hundred times and never picked up on that. XD
I agree. "The LONG 😉 Kiss Goodnight" is a fun movie with some great, funny dialog from Samuel L. Jackson and GEENA 😉Davis. Definitely worth a watch. 👍
Yes, such a great movie.

"Harrison...Harisson Ford... Tommy Lee.." Great reaction from the very beginning of the film, guys!) When watch as a child, that very phrase of Tommy Lee Jones is very funny)
Thank you for watching! It means the world ❤️
@@OfficialMediaKnights Thank you! Your channel is like a breath of fresh air!
8:48 Watch the making of this movie if you get a chance, you'll see how they created this REAL train wreck. NO CGI was used.
Now, watch Tommy Lee Jones again in U.S Marshalls (the sequel). Wesley Snipes (Blade) & Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man). Incredible cast in that movie.
Can’t wait to check it out! That’s a stacked cast!
As a former Chicagoan I have a real soft spot for films that showcase 'my' city. So many locations that I know so well. --- Oh, and the movie is amazing, too!! LOL
Tommy lee won a deserved oscar for his part. Its a great thriller
Witness 1985 Harrison Ford 👍
I’m a sucker for off screen quotes and this movie has one of my favorites. When Joey Pants asks “why you always yelling at me?” Tommy Lee yells at the next person who comes up and all you hear is “atta boy!” Lmao
Harrison
I didn't kill my wife
Tommy
I don't care!!!
The Academy
Give that man his Oscar.
Ahah in a nutshell!! Loved the delivery of the 'I don't care' line!
@@OfficialMediaKnightsThe Simpsons parody of that iconic scene was hilarious
I love every moment where Richard encounters the police, in the hospital, the 2 moments with the police cars and the DEA turning up at that house. Those moments are so tense
Andreus Katsulas (the one armed man), was one of my favorite actors as a kid. Classically trained for stage, and could be a great villain or hero. That type of acting training for film seems to have gone on the wayside these days I feel.
One of his absolute best performances was as G'Kar on the highly acclaimed series Babylon 5. Easily as good if not better than Star Trek, but never got the love and respect from the studio it deserved.
They crashed that train for real, it still sits there in that spot to this day.
But Dr. Kimble, the odds of you being exonerated are approximately....
Kimble: "Never tell me the odds!"
“In light of new evidence, this court finds you not guilty.”
Kimble: “I know.”
Gerard: "Do you wanna get shot?!"
Kimble: "Wait a minute. I always shoot first!"
Sam Gerard on the stairs: "Richard!"
Short Round: "You call him Dr. Kimble!"
Tommy Lee Jones playing any type of Law Man is golden he has a natural no nonsense attitude. It's great to watch.
Presumed Innocent and What Lies Beneath are a couple more great Harrison Ford movies. Executive Decision with Kurt Russell is also top notch.
One of the greatest movies to be based on an old TV show from the 60's, which itself is equally legendary. My dad and I are fans of both the original 1963-1967 series (with David Janssen as Richard Kimble, and Barry Morse as Sam Gerrard), and this film.
Tommy Lee Jones Performance in this movie is a ( chef kiss) He earned the Oscar for Supporting Actor Award
Such a fun reaction! I watched this movie with my parents when I was a kid. Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford are both so cool. It's one of my favorite movies
Also, comedy suggestion. "Don't Tell Mom The Babysitters Dead" very 90s and hilarious.
Yes, I loved that movie. I'm right on top of that Rose
So many people never mention that movie, thank you for bringing it up, The Game is awesome.
@@KaramarikaAnd that's how you spend 25 to life in prison... NEVER talk to cops without a lawyer.
I am very happy to live in a country where those things work differently than that.
DOUBLE JEOPARDY!!!! Next!
I second that.
The Fugitive was huge ABC TV show in the 1960's with a epic climatic ending. They also use the Furtive formula for the Incredible Hulk tv series 1977-81.
I watched this movie for one reason back in the day, Tommy Lee Jones!!! He has been a favorite actor/Hollywood crush of mine since I was 9yo and first watched the tv miniseries “Lonesome Dove”
If you guys are in the mood for an EPIC western and have a spare 6 hours & 13 minutes, I highly recommend watching/ reacting to “Lonesome Dove” from 1989.
Lonesome Dove is the best story put on film ever!
The true crime story of Sam Sheppard killing his wife in 1954 served as inspiration for this movie and the series in the 60s.
Just laughed my a** off watching the "reactors react to mean messages". 😂 I do honestly think most reaction channels are very ridiculous... But since I've watched everything you have seen...
OMG, the slow motion flashback, “I like him” had me rolling!!!😂😂😂
The Hunt for Red October also a good cat and mouse film😉 Very good cast and very exciting. And sadly, more current than you think.
I would love to see it here.
YES! DEFINITELY
Probably my favorite Harrison Ford film a genuine classic. Pleasant surprise to see you check it out!
This movie is like a great beach read. No matter how many times I watch it, I get swept up in it. Harrison Ford is a freaking movie star. James Newton Howard’s score is iconic. It adds so much to the movie as a whole. It IS the quintessential thriller score.
Yes yes and yesss, love the comparison to a beach read!! The mystery in this just sucked us in and the performances were amazing!!
Hopefully you guys can add the following movie to the list
Stephen King’s Thinner Rated R | 1996 | Horror/Adaptation | Runtime: 1h 33m
6:40 I don't think she was made to say that, more that she heard him come home and was trying to call out to him, saying "Richard, he's trying to kill me"
The Fugitive was a popular tv series in the 60s. This is one of the few movies ever made from a series, the biggest exception to that is Star Trek.
Tommy Lee Jones stars in the movie US Marshall that carries this character into a sequel. Air Force One and Patriot Games are really good Harrison Ford movie.
Mission Impossible, Charlie's Angels, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., there are quite a few.
I always felt The Fugitive and Frantic (among others) show some of Harrison Ford's best qualities as an actor: characters being so vulnerable and strong at the same time. You always feel for him in these shitty situations, like if it was you yourself trying to get through it without any super-powers to be the born hero.
“US Marshals” is a great sequel to this movie. A must see!
No. That movie is all-time dumb.
Tommy Lee Jones won Academy Award for best supporting actor as portraying Samuel Gerard. Such a great role & great job
Now you HAVE to watch "Wrongfully Accused". It's the law!
True, so true :D
The Fugitive is an absolute thrill!!!
Harrison Ford was still a big box office star in the 90’s and this is maybe his best role outside of Star Wars/Indiana Jones.
24:44 "google is free"... nope.... no google in 1993 ^^

I took less as "made her say it" and more like she was dying and only half in it and in her last moments was pleading to Richard as in calling weakly for Richard and telling HIM that the intruder is trying to kill her.
You should react to Air Force One, another great 90s action movie, with the amazing Gary Oldman as the villain.

Double Jeopardy, with Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones is another awesome late 90's early 2000's action/suspense movie

Fun fact: Jane Lynch, who plays the doctor who helps Richard obtain the test results that confirm his RDU-90 theory, is from my little hometown village of Dolton, IL.. The only other famous person from my hometown is former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb.
