Yeah it seems to work really well. I know it has a slipper clutch on the mechanical side, which helps, and I believe the electronics, in the lower settings, let you slide 15-20 degrees before triggering abs intervention.
I am salivating!!! I cannot wait for this bike to reach the US....I am first on the list as my dealership to try this out...and I have my 'golden coins' ready to buy it.
Pick mine up tomorrow, can't wait! I know it's not the fastest but I will enjoy looking at it and cleaning it almost as much as riding it, definitely something about the red paint as you say 👌
Nothing like picking up a new bike, enjoy it mate. It is a great bike, it has to be one of the best looking nakeds out there and tons of real world performance👍
Cheers. I haven't ridden the new 800 with the updated dash and electronics but I have had a go on the older one. I'd say that the engine on the MV has a bit more character and charm but the overall package on the v2 is better, it is sweeter handling than the MV and feels a bit more modern, although it sounds like that has been addressed on the new one.
Thanks👍 Yes I did find that the front end drops into corners with almost no effort at all, but it is very confidence inspiring. Some bikes almost require a little bit of counter steering to help them drop in, especially at speed, but not this one, you just think about turning and it drops in. I was really impressed with the front end feel.
Great bike the 1098, the engine character is very different on the V2 compared to the 1098, but it is still fun in its own way, got to chase the revs on the V2 although this makes it more mellow and easier to live with when you just want to cruise.
@@tankslapmoto9999 great to hear it’s revvy, I would like that more than the constant wheelies everytime I open the throttle as I like to put miles on my bike. Great ridin and vid!
Cheers, there's just something about it that draws you in, it is not the fastest bike, nor the cheapest, but if you spend some time with it you'll want one.
I always thought about the supercuadro in a naked, it’s responsive and that makes you agile, better than the testastretta for shure and can’t deny the beauty of that little beast, nice review 👌
It is a great bike, although probably a little down on tourque on the street compared to the testastretta. You definitely need to feed it some rpm to let it shine but overall its a great package. Handling, design and build quality were the standout features for me, worth buying for the looks alone👍
I've got the new 2022 Yamaha mt 10sp in May first time for the US 🇺🇸...however I do like the Ducati much love for it..mt10 is going to be hard to beat this year and I saved a few dollars also....thanks for the review on the first 2022 Ducati....
Nice👍 The 2022 MT10 is on my list of bikes to test when the opportunity presents itself, I'm sure it will be a great bike, I'm a big fan of Yamaha generally but that cross plane i4 is a real gem.
😂The list is indeed getting longer, so many great bikes these days, we are definitely spoiled! I need to call my guy and find out when they will be in, but it can't be too much more of a wait.
Been waiting for KTM to bring out a new 990 so I can update my 2007 v twin duke.. just found out they are bringing one out but a parallel twin. So goodbye ktm hello Ducati. Be good if it had a small tinted screen 4 inches over the digital readout to really make the colour screen pop out.
Cheers, the V2 is very peaky compared to the MT09, the mt09 has a big spike in power at around 7k which will pick the front up with ease wheras the v2 doesn't really impress until around 10k and then you are into the limiter at 11500, it is still great fun but not really a power wheelie monster like the MT, you have to chase the performance on the ducati, you'd get the front to hover in 3rd gear or maybe off a crest but that's about it from memory.
Cheers 👍 Yes I plan to, I have always had a soft spot for the monster, having owned a few in the past, so I think it would be good to jump on the new one, see if it still works without the trellis frame😉
The SDR is a great bike, much more of a brute and is more playful than the SFv2, the SDR also has more creature comforts but I'd say that the SFv2 is more rewarding and easier to ride fast. I always think that there's more fun to be had riding the smaller bike harder, but it depends what you enjoy. The SFv2 is not like a typical v twin in the sense that the character of the engine is not dominated by heaps of tourque in the midrange, you have to rev it to get the performance but it is very fun and quite different to the SDR. The standout feature of the SFv2 is the handling though, theres probably only 10kg or so difference beween the two bikes but you'd swear it was more, maybe it's because the SFv2 has less rotating mass in the engine but it just flicks form side to side with no effort at all, even at speed. Definitely worth a look, although you might miss the brute force of the SDR👍
That’s a great response, I really appreciate it. I will try one at the local Ducati dealer and see what I think but sounds a great bike. Really good review by the way, just subscribed
I'd say the MT09SP is more fun, it is so playful and it doesn't take itself as seriously as the Ducati. The MT is still a very high performance bike but it is more engaging at moderate pace than the Ducati, the MT loves play riding and lofting casual 3rd gear wheelies with minimal effort. The Ducati is also great fun but it demands to be ridden harder to extract the fun factor, but that last 10% of engine and chassis performance is very rewarding on the Ducati 👍
I really wanted to enjoy this video but I couldn't. The camera seemed very jerky and on the bike it was set too low and there was too much of the tank in the picture. In the end it all gave me a headache. Please treat this as constructive criticism.
Cheers for the feedback, it was a bit of a rushed job this one. The chest mount camera might not be the best for spirited riding either, as you invariably end up with too much of the tank in the frame when in the tuck position. Something to work on for future videos👍
Tough question, I think the 1290 is probably more hilarious because of the sheer amount of grunt available but, the SFV2 is more exploitable for most people and for me it is more fun to ride the smaller bike harder with less effort, especially on the road,👍
Wouldn't you miss the SP's superior low-down shove? The Ducati is a looker, for sure, probably better-looking than the 09 but not by that much. And then there's Japanese reliability. This channel was a good find.
I think I would miss the engine on the MT, the CP3 is a masterpiece. Although the SFv2 probably has it beat in other departments, but then again it is considerably more expensive... you are also right in that you can't beat Japanese reliability!
No idea really (maybe 7 or 8 ish seconds), I plan to do some timed runs later in the year but I suspect it will all come down to the launch. V twins are typically easier to launch than a straight four👍
Peter I have an 17 s1000r, and am considering an upgrade with the SFV2 on the very short list, with SFV4 and Tuono V4. The Speed RS and new S1000R are on a back up list. Some very nice machines about, more than when I bought my 17 s1000r new
Only above 10k rpm, I think the mt09 would pull a few bike lengths ahead on a midrange roll on but the sfv2 would claw it back up top. It would be a very interesting real world race upto 120mph!
I read that it has "dedicated tourque maps for certain groups of gears..." which probably translates to a stealth wheelie control (although I read that the tourque limiting is deactivated in the "High Power" setting...) I.can confirm that it still lofts the front with ease in the higher rpm's👍
Now that I see the video again ,seems to better than I remember it 😜🤣... Very fair review and spot on with the comparison to the Mt09... You need to try my Mt09 with the full system and remap then decide 👍😅
I think you may need another test ride when spring rolls around😂. Cheers mate, I might just take you up on that offer, I'm already blown away with the Mt09 stock, so another 10 HP and extra rpm must be insane!
I have a mt09 remapped too and I loved but it seem this bike is like next level most reviews say could be in the same level as the MT10 . I am thinking on change it for one of this or v4 but defo will do a test drive before making my decision. For the price I could also get a super duke 🤔
@@TheValbunnys have tested the v4 1100... And it's on another level from the Mt09 and the V2... The suspension was mind blowing and the engine it's something else... Might be the next bike 🙂

Yeah it seems to work really well. I know it has a slipper clutch on the mechanical side, which helps, and I believe the electronics, in the lower settings, let you slide 15-20 degrees before triggering abs intervention.

All the important stuff covered really well. Did you find the front end sort of fell into corners rather than being neutral?
Thanks👍 Yes I did find that the front end drops into corners with almost no effort at all, but it is very confidence inspiring. No not really, I probably should have. I know the SDR is a great bike but it just never really pulled me in. Maybe one day.

I have a 2021 Superduke r and thinking about a change. What would you say to this v the sdr 1290.
A little unfair to compare this to the much bigger and heavier sdr 1290. The Streetfighter V4 would be a better comparison to the KTM.
