Tomorrow will be 8 years to the day Lemmy left this mortal realm of ours. It's wild that it's been that long! This cover being the final track on Motorhead's final album has always felt very fitting to me. Rest in peace, Lemmy. The world is a lesser place without you! 🤘
Damn, Lemmy passed away yet Keith Richards is still going. He’s gonna outlive us all, you know. I don’t care if you’re 15 right now, you’re gonna die before Keith Richards does!
A fucking amazing version of an already legendary rock and roll anthem. Motorhead did proper justice to a song that has minimal space for improvement or improvisation; they put their stamp on it, tweaked it, and nailed it in the best possible way. RIP Lemmy, you will always be the archangel of rock.
+drServitis He will though, because of his music. He's a legend, and I think it's really cool that he will live on through something you can tell he really loved.
@@bigwillietheb In my opinion and to my taste GnR's version is just mediocre. Listen to Tiamat's version. It's slowed down but absolutely haunting. I had my time when I listened the Tiamat cover on endless loop. Anyways, I'm more than pleasantly surprised by the Motörhead cover. It has its very own special touch and vibe.
25 years ago, the first time I had met him at the Rainbow bar & grill, I said "I really have looked up to for quite some time" Now, I know when you people say he is God, you mean God of Rock n Roll or whatever.. but he said in response.. "If I were you, I wouldn't look up to me, the only person you should look up to, is You!" And I said in embarrassment, "well I meant because of your lyrics in your songs like in "Stay Clean" and what not".. Lemmy said, "yeah, I know, but shouldn't look up to me, cause in the end, all you have is yourself" Words to live by.

I think story of Lemmy is totally cool and legendary way it is ! He was going strong to he very end. 90% of musicians would completely stop touring years before, with such beaten body, while he was still going full power ! He was like metal machine hero with superpower ! I would not like to see Lemmy old and useless at all, and certainly I would not like to see him perform like Chuck Berry , his brain are fryed completely, he can not finish one song properly, its just sad ! Or Bob Dylan, I didnt recongize even one of his songs when I was on concert recently, he was like ghost, horrible voice and I didnt enjoyed that performance even little ! NO Lemmy didnt leave like that, he left with full dignity and played RnR till the very end, like it should be played, he was soaked completely in energy of Rock, and left like true warrior, just 4 days before he left body all th best rockers played for him and this was epic way to say goodbye to Dear Lemmy, with RnR music and friends he loved the most ! And Lemmy was not just body, he left as pure Light and energy and now he is much more than physical body, he is Divine Being ! So never feel sorry or sad for Lemmy, no no noo feel joyful as much as possible, He gave it all he had to the people, he was serving an sharing his virtues till very end ! His funny jokes, warm words of support and powerful words of wisdom he shared with us, friendliness, warm support to all his friends or strangers he just met, doesnt matter to him, he gave attention to all :) Rejoice, Lemmy is now pure Bliss and energy, Light, Divine Being of ROck !! :D :D :D

And the passing of someone to the divine state of being tends to always be a sort of positive martyrdom to help people see the truths they didn't see before. As for us - we knew. We still know. Personally the themes of war present in the tune present themselves as more of a Motörhead song than a Stones song. Nothing against the Stones but this has to be one of the best fitting covers in music history (granted most covers Motörhead did where awsome as hell (Heros, Cat Scratch Fever, Hellraiser)).

I adore lemmy Nd it's a fab cover.....I don't want to say "but'.....but....some tunes are such one offs.... I mean studio one offs that....yeah, cover it...but this is ineof those RS tunes that any cover will ....not fail.....but.....I dunno...somebody help me out here... its just.... a piece of perfection.... like a lot of Stones songs.......its not just a tune...its a shared generational experience..... make sense? I'm no muso....far from it...but some artists...I dunno....its so much "them" like Tom Waits for example.....they are so perfection expression of that artists musical and enotionak identity thay why bother with a cover..... but I guess that's why all the great artists.. like Lemmy..... do...... peace and love y'all xxxxx
Phantastic Rolling Stones song especially for the time in the seventees it was written. It was a real shock for the establishment. Great cover by Motörhead !!!
+Rubber-Johnny hey man, we're all hurting but you can't say that. i know you have good intentions but the original is what gave this song it's flavour. without the original being the epic song it was, this one wouldn't be so...... groovy! don't get me wrong, i like it a lot, but without the original, i can't see this being as accepted or appreciated. knowing the original is what makes it so good!
In 1994 me and a friend of mine spent an evening in Vienna and walked through Carinthian Street as we heard some noise not far away, sounded like a ghetto blaster. We followed this noise and came to a place where a show run, Uriah Heep, Nazareth and Alvin Lee played to celebrate Austrians "Yes" for the EU. We listened for a while and then continued our walk to the Danube Tower to get a coffee 140m above the ground. As we were upstairs, we choose to sit outside on the platform and there we noticed some well known "noise". Right below the Danube tower was a big tent, and Motörhead played their show. We looked at each other and said "Shit, i didn't know of this show tonight." After we finished our coffee - which needed longer than usual due to the nice accoustic - we decided to go to a rock club in the city. We sat there for about half an our near the entry, had some drinks, fine music, as suddenly the door opened and an older guy came in. It was Lemmy himself, no Bodyguards, no Security, only Lemmy. He took a look around the people, raised his hand for a "Hello everybody" and went straight to the bar. My friend an me were stoned :) It was fascinating, other people walked straight to him, but he did absolutely not behave like a Star, he was friendly, talked patiently with them, gave Autographs, a very nice guy. R.I.P. P.S.: One of these covers that are better than the original
Motorhead music will never get old,it's so rough and hard, loud kick you in the face music what rock and roll should sound like. I hope I'm around for a long time I'll be listening to motorhead for life.
Lemmy embodied the entire history of Rock and Roll. He saw the beginnings of the Beatles at the Cavern Club, the psychedelic 60's working for Hendrix and the birth of punk and metal.
I almost got to see motorhead live but a month before he was due to come to the town I lived in Lemmy past away :( still have the ticket for the gig RIP LEM BORN TO LOSE LIVED TO WIN!! A TRUE LEGEND
When the cover is better than the original, it is an exception. The exceptional thing with the Motorhead is that every single cover they made is better than the original! I don't know if there are any exceptions to this...
I can't believe that it's over. I feel extremly sad, I lost my hero, a person who opened my eyes for Rock & Roll and stuff, the other kinds of music, who inspired me to buy my fucking guitar and play music loud. The only true frontman left the world empty, RIP Lemmy. Poland will never forget you, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!

Nothing against the Stones but this has to be one of the best fitting covers in music history (granted most covers Motörhead did where awsome as hell (Heros, Cat Scratch Fever, Hellraiser)).
Motörhead version was better guitars.......
Add gnr's version
LYRICS:
Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long years
Stole million man's soul an faith
And I was 'round when Jesus Christ
Had his moment of doubt and pain
Made damn sure that Pilate
Washed his hands and sealed his fate
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game
Stuck around St. Petersburg
When I saw it was a time for a change
Killed Tsar and his ministers
Anastasia screamed in vain
I rode a tank
Held a general's rank
When the blitzkrieg raged
And the bodies stank
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name, oh yeah
Ah, what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah
I watched with glee
While your kings and queens
Fought for ten decades
For the gods they made
I shouted out
Who killed the Kennedys?
When after all
It was you and me
Let me please introduce myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
And I laid traps for troubadours
Who get killed before they reached Bombay
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah
But what's confusing you
Is just the nature of my game
Just as every cop is a criminal
And all the sinners saints
As heads is tails
Just call me Lucifer
'Cause I'm in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politnesse
Or I'll lay your soul to waste, mm yeah
Pleased to meet you
Hope you guessed my name, mm yeah
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game, mm mean it, get down
Woo, who
Oh yeah, get on down
Oh yeah
Aah yeah
Tell me baby, what's my name?
Tell me honey, can ya guess my name?
Tell me baby, what's my name?
I tell you one time, you're to blame
What's my name
Tell me, baby, what's my name?
Tell me, sweetie, what's my name?

I've been listening to Motorhead since I was 14 Lemmy is a ledgend I watch his interviews often & he's brilliant, witty & so down to earth. Bet he's still rocking it wherever he is!
I'll miss you Lemmy, especially hearing you say "Oh no, its you" every time I seen you.
interesting to note it's the last song of the last motorhead album.
And what a great final song for him and the band too!
dardevVI A very appropriate last song.
And it's the 13th track.
They had simpathy for the devil and this simbology is old School paganism, satanism. Taking that out, If exists a possiblity, that you may rest in peace Lemmy.
Lemmy's playing sold-out shows every night in Valhalla!
Totaley Right , one fine day i will be there, to the show..!!
Totally Safe...!! sorry ;)
In case your in the wrong place, We are Motorhead And we play Rock n Roll"- Lemmy Kilmister
When the grim reaper came for Lemmy, he lit Lemmy's cigarette and they talked for 2 hours, then walked away arm in arm.
You forgot the bottle of Jack they shared
Damn.
He was a happy reaper after 2 hours with Lemmy.
kevinsbott, shame on you. Death for Lemmy would have been Neil Gaiman's perky goth Death. Only sluttier.
Nah the reaper wanted to retire lemmy is the replacement 🤘😈
I like this version very much. Motörhead have put some great imagination into this cover - love the drumming - without copying the Stones.
I don't always listen to Motorhead, but when I do, my neighboors do too. ;)
HELL My Suburb does!
I wish you'd be my neighbour.
Hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about!
oh HELL yeah
And so do my roommates
Phantastic Rolling Stones song especially for the time in the seventees it was written. It was a real shock for the establishment. Great cover by Motörhead !!!
For me, the best version of that track!
For fucking ever!
for me is guns n roses
Have you heard, "Tiamat"'s version. I like it better, but only because I'm a goth chic!!!😉😉😉😁😁😁👍👍👍😎🍺
@@antoniosilvasanchez2324 Then you have bad taste in music lmao
@@jimmykeller420 bro, is my taste, then u respect likes of others hahaha
I didn't think anybody but the Stones could ever do this song but Motorhead really knocked this one out of the ballpark!
Oh man! This is a hundred thousand light years better than the original.
+Corey “Ruqyo Highsong” King I'm with you. No comparison with the Stones.
+Corey “Ruqyo Highsong” King Give the Janes Addiction version a shot
The Attack do a killer version.
Fantastico...Una Bomba...Gracias Por Todo Lemmy....Buenos Aires Argentina....🍻🍻🍻🍻🍯
I love their covers, they make it their own while staying true to the original version
When Lemmy covers your song,it´s not your song anymore.
+Ægir Demus close enough but stones version is still my favorite
+Ægir Demus The Animals and Beth Hart can do that too. One has to get their own song or somebody will take it from them.
+Ægir Demus
fuck yeah ! !
unless the original is by the stones. and Lemmy would agree.
Ægir Demus Nah. The Stones, Maiden and Metallica still own their songs that Motorhead covered.
What a day today is. Miss Lemmy and his awesome vocals!
Motorhead music will never get old,it's so rough and hard, loud kick you in the face music what rock and roll should sound like. I hope I'm around for a long time I'll be listening to motorhead for life.
Lemmy embodied the entire history of Rock and Roll. He saw the beginnings of the Beatles at the Cavern Club, the psychedelic 60's working for Hendrix and the birth of punk and metal.
working
Lemmy IS RNR
Lemmy was rock and roll itself
When Lemmy starts to sing, we all become one with the Universe, simply because we just heard a God jam!!!
I almost got to see motorhead live but a month before he was due to come to the town I lived in Lemmy past away :( still have the ticket for the gig RIP LEM BORN TO LOSE LIVED TO WIN!! A TRUE LEGEND
I'm 51yr old and could not be called a Motor head fan but by Jesus this is feckin awesome. This is how the Stones should have done this song.
What is it like to have lived half your lifespan?
Quite honestly it's a relief knowing that I will be dead before I have to put up with the snowflakes for too long.
@@endasims6911 perfect answer much respect
Lemmy gives this song the grittiness it deserves. Go Lemmy
My friend sent this to me. I absolutely love it. RIP Lemmy.
When the cover is better than the original, it is an exception. The exceptional thing with the Motorhead is that every single cover they made is better than the original! I don't know if there are any exceptions to this...
Hardly. Everything Lemmy touchs turns to gold.
No there isn't
@@Portuguesecirrus yes it does
I agree & Guns n roses had a good version too
Motorhead's cover of "The Trooper" is crap, but hey the original is way past the age of retirement.
Every person who hears Motörhead will listen to Motörhead forever. There is nothing that-compares. Ask prince.
A legendary voice like Lemmy never dies.
Lemmy is now riding the hell and heaven is watching jealously.

Lemmy may be gone, but his gift of music will live forever. So, in a twisted way, Lemmy lives on.
Every night the devil looks under his bed. LEMMY MIGHT BE THERE!
Had the pleasure of hanging out with Lemmy for a couple of days at a music seminar both of our bands were at. And Don Dokken kept trying to hang out with us and Lemmy hot fed up with his ego and called him a f****** wanker and told him to piss off! Dude, Lemmy was a bad ass mother f***** and a tremendous gentleman if he liked you. But make no mistake let me was a badass dude. RIP my friend.
Such a kickass drum and bass groove..
It's 2024, and I miss Moterhead.

So much so that you couldn't even spell the band name right lol
Oh,oh,..this is just sooo good! I love the Stones version, but this tops it! Raw and hellish!

"I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, 'couse sinners have much more fun...
Only the good die young."
Yup, it's a Billy Joel quote.
I hear heads spinining...
You may be right, it may be blasphemy. Oh, but it just may be a heretic you're looking for.
...wait...
Oh Billy Joel never said anything worth quoting.. Rollings Stones rule. Lemmy kills it
@Brandon Shelton well I'm broke for sure. Happy ain't happening either!
@Brandon Shelton guess I hit my breaking point of 30 years of trying to get out of it.
Who is Billy Joel?
Wie geil ist das denn? Besser als das Original. Absoluter Wahnsinn !

And most importantly, they they lived it!
