Overkill appears on Motörhead’s album ‘Overkill’. Originally released on Bronze Records on 24th March 1979, produced by Jimmy Miller. The line up on this album was Lemmy, Fast Eddie Clarke and Philthy Animal Taylor.
Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud
So good I can't believe it, screaming with the crowd
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
On your feet you feel the beat, it goes straight to your spine
Shake your head you must be dead if it don't make you fly
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill
Know your body's made to move, ya feel it in your guts
Rock 'n' roll ain't worth the name if it don't make ya strut
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Don't sweat it, we'll get it back to you
Overkill, overkill, overkill

Lemmy is the only dude who can be a viking, a cowboy, a biker, a pirate, a bassist, a guitarist, and singer at the same time
Also bastard, but would share his chips with you and beat you at pinball, and quote P.G. Wodehouse while doing it. A legend in his own lunchtime!
Rest in peace Eddie, Lemmy and Phil.
And nobody would question it.....Lemmy was a one of a kind 🤘🤘
Your god damn right
Lem is god xD
I love how the song doesn't want to end
I find the multiple false endings a bit overkill
I feel the same !!!
@kaushal Urasendalga jamatti Awesome 😀
Yesssss!!!
This song will never end
The fact Motorhead isn't in the rock and roll hall of fame yet is borderline criminal
Someday, bro. Someday.
Hall of fame's a joke Phuck em
RRHOF doesn't mean shit, bands like Jethro Tull aren't in there either even though both Tull and Motörhead contributed massively to their respective rock genres
It's all political bs, dw.
I doubt Lemmy would want it. Or the guys
*Overkill.* The song so good they had to make 3 endings for it.
And a band took this name as well...."Years of Decay"
❤
the quintessential rock song that is exactly as its title. overkill the crap out of the ending
They were gonna do 4 endings but they didn't want to ... ahem... OVERKILL it. Sorry not sorry.
Truly an overkill
Lemmy was the realest guy in the music industry. When everyone started flying private jets and overcharging for tickets, Lemmy stayed the same. Same apartment, same bar, same music. It was never about the money. The guy even told his fans not to buy the record company’s Motorhead box set because of the inflated price. RIP Lemmy.
For real - saw them 40th anniversary tour at Ipswich regent. You wouldn't expect them to be playing there considering it's Motorhead.. Tiny little intimate theatre. It was fuckin great

And remember, they play rock and roll. Not heavy metal.

The classic Motorhead line-up. The sweat, the grease, the attitude and Phil Taylor on drums.

3 instruments and just an amazing wall of sound. RIP Lemmy
They're all dead unfortunately. RIP Fast Eddie and Philthy Phil.
They opened for Ozzy at ThevAragon ballroom in 81. Only an incredible performance by Ozzy prevented them from getting blown away by MH. What a great concert. Loud doesn't come close to describing it.
@@fiscer247 They were Motorhead. Everything else was extra.
The sound is timeless and stil amazing
Why only 3? The fourth and main instrument is Lemmy's voice
Philty Animal Taylor with his violent drums, Fast Eddie Clarke with his mighty Fender and Lemmy with his scratchy vocals and sinister bass! Simply lethal Rock N Roll 🔥
Animalllllll for ever🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
The best line up they ever had. All gods of their trade.
Animal was an absolute BEAST.

It's official. Lemmy is by far the coolest man to have ever walked this Earth.
Always been official.
I could not agree more.
I’m really not a big fan of a world where he is no longer around.
You are 100 percent correct

Took you this long to realize
I really like Philthy's drumming in this.
incredible drummer 🤘
I’m only 18 and unfortunately was never old enough to see motorhead live, but I will never stop listening to this band. Lemmy wrote some of the most badass songs and broke all the rules at the time. What a legend.
cheers buddy 🤘🤘
Saw them when Lemmy's bass amplifier blew up one day 🤟🤒
Well done dude keep listening, See them many years ago and my hearing has never been the same since. Was right at the front and god it was loud:-)
18 nowadays?..iam glad that i was 18 in the seventies..of course i saw that trio live.damn there were loud as fuck..

If you could distil the essence of pure, unadulterated, balls-to-the-wall rock and roll, you'd have Motorhead. Absolutely brilliant.
I can agree. They don't take a break.
And if you distilled Motorhead down, you'd prolly have yourself some pretty good speed.
He made the best decision ever leaving hawkwind and fettin fast Eddie Clarke on lead guitar 🎸 legendary band and Phil Taylor the drummer!!!

Most songs try to get in your head with something catchy, motorhead gets in your head with pure aural assault and pace. I swear even when the song ends i can hear those drums chugging along

Это лучшее что я слышал .

¨Dont forget us, we are Motorhead and we play rock and roll¨
Motörhead is not just the band-it’s a lifestyle.
Philthy Animal Taylor is so underrated, such a huge influence oh hard rock and heavy metal drummers
metal drumming wouldn't be the same without him
Dave Lombardo would agree
hc/punk drummers too
deff not underrated how "philthy" he be
agree 100% - he not only defined the genre of thrash drumming, he's still peerless - man against boys.
3 peaks in a metal song with 3 different solos...pure joy
The drums on this are pure fire.
I love Fast Eddie Clark's guitar solos in this song.
Love ?
RIP Lemmy, you were a god to all us metalheads
Were? Are!
Dude, this ain't metal
Still is a God
Fat Coon I know but it’s still good
Bro its speed metal this is alot more than just hard rock
Nothing is more rock n roll than this.
Love the drums! Like pumping pure adrenaline. Philthy was a fantastic drummer.
The drums blew me away from the first seconds - I don’t know this song or really this band but I love it now
In an interview philthy said he was practising the double drums (because other people cheat electronically) and lemmie and Eddie came in and said keep going and joined in
And that was how they wrote it apparently
No fancy production, no autotune, no fucking human degradation. Only talent.

I've always had a difficult time listening to Motörhead without cranking it as loud as I can especially after I saw them live. NEVER LOUD ENOUGH!

My god son is named Lemmy , he is 40 years old. Named after Lemmy, we were big Motörhead fans back then. Lived that life.
This comment’s probably gonna get buried since this is an old video and all that, but this song has such a strangely unique vibe to it that I don’t really have anything to compare it to, nor can I describe it particularly well, but I’ll do my best.
Oftentimes with metal, especially faster stuff like thrash, there’s that urge to kick ass and take names, to drive on forward and see something through the to the end.
This feels like the epitome of that “keep going and never stop” mentality. This is the ultimate “finale” song for that.
The main character slays the dragon and asks his partner if what they did was worth it, and he simply replies, “Don’t sweat it, get it back to you.”

Lemmy was probably the coolest guy in rock! this dude even with all of his millions lived in a small two bedroom apartment, didn't spend his money on fancy cars and clothes or nice restaurants. He went to the same bar every day, popped large amounts of LSD and drunk Jack Daniels right up until his death! He stayed true to himself right until the very end.... legend! 🤘
LSD? Speed was Lemmy’s drug of choice my friend
Even Lemmy said himself, he made more money from writing mama in coming home for ozzy, than everything he did to that point combined. He has more of a following in the last 15 years than the first 15.....Seems like a regular guy because he is Just a regular guy.
@@DennisCarney1976 its funny because he quit his first band hawkwing because they were all on acid, while he was speeding along. He personally put his giant black boot on the throat of the hippie movement, and didn't let up.
He even played shows while in the late stages of cancer, while other "artists" around that time cried they didn't feel good, and cancelled shows right before they were supposed to be on stage. Lemmy was the real rockstar while others pretend.
Him and Bon Scott on a night out. What a combo that would be.
Today Lemmy would have been celebrating his 75th birthday. Five years after his death he´s still missing.
he's alive in our hearts, he is a metal god

This song came about from Phil letting off some steam while the rest of the band were taking a break... they were just coming back into the studio and Phil was doing this double base drum footwork & Lemmy & Clarky said don’t stop keep the beat going... & not long after another Smash hit from Motörhead had been written... Goes to show what real talented musicians can create just off the cuff... Amazing!...
