I am not a Latino but there was a certain time (90s-mid 00s)when telenovelas were literally so big in Greece and I genuinely grew up watching all these characters.

I used to watch telenovelas with my abuelita when I was like 4 and it basically taught me Spanish. Then I stoped watching them cause I got into things like Disney and I lost my Spanish. Now I live in a mostly Hispanic town and ven tho I can understand it when I’m with my friends I wish I could still speak it😢
Telenovelas were a part of my childhood! My babysitter used to love them! My sister used to watch the telenovelas from the Philippines with her ex-boyfriend's stepmom and her friend's mom, and my sister's ex-boyfriend got told to shut up for interrupting and not paying attention, my sister's friend's mom used to keep them on DVR. Still a guilty pleasure to this day! God, I seriously need to watch telenovelas again!

My grandmother watches those shows all the time. In fact, years ago, her doctor forbidden her to watch "Maria la del Barrio" because whenever Soraya came on screen her blood pressure skyrocketed! (still does!) True story.

I loved the villains in novelas, usually because they were rich and can get away with anything during the telenovela and then at the end they die in this huge explosive car crash. Favorite villain of all time was Paola Bracho from La Ursurpadora.

I am from Hungary. Mexican telenovelas were also part of my childhood. 😂 😂 The first ever damn telenovela I saw was Yo compro esa mujer and then La Usurpadora. Soñadoras was my favourite one and María la del Barrio as well. I also remember of Siempre te amare with the insane, murder villan Gilda.

Sin senos no hay paraíso is very explicit and violent.
Soñadoras, Amigas y Rivales, El Juego De La Vida, Clase 406, Mi Pequeña Traviesa,and Maria La Del Barrio were some of my favorites.
