the marks for other parma's NOT made in Italy are ALSO still valid IF the follow the requirements for their region as set out by the italian producers ... then your wheel is still legally parmagiano reggiano ... the best part is large manufacturers in north america can actually produce about 40 times the amount of cheese they can in italy ... and so reduce their costs well below those of Italy ... and undercut them ... until the cows ... come home
It’s probably so insulting when these companies try to pass off their trashy ‘cheese’ as a quality product that these people pride themselves on making and spend so much time perfecting. I’d be so angry lol. Although you can’t fake it because there’s really no comparing the two if you’ve ever tasted the real thing.
Hi, i am a german chef myself and had worked with cheese wheels in the past. Its totally just for show and serves no other purpose. But for those of you who want to try it yourself, here a few tips. 1. To split a cheese wheels you usually poke holes with a longer stable knife around the wheel and then cut the outer line, soon after you can press two stable knife in the sides and use those as levers to split the whole wheel open. 2. If you would like to test a wheel out yourself it might be interesting to know that there exist actual scrapers for these tasks with such a scraper you can clean the inner wheel much easier and it looks better in the end. 3. Alcohol to flambe is best used hot so it ignites better and produces a consistent flame. also movement is important to get the lower alcohol ignited as well and bring air into the flame makes it last longer as seen in the video. And lastly to flambe has nothing to do with the wheel nor the dish itself and will make nearly no difference to the actual taste, its the same as the cheese wheel... just for show.

Two issues they'd have to overcome are being able to stretch it out to fill a standard 30 minute time slot without feeling repetitive or boring, and to come up with enough ideas to hit that weekly schedule.

A standard 30 minute time slot is about 7 minutes of ads and 23 minutes of content. I've done video content editing. Stretching a 10-15 minute video out to 23 minutes while keeping it engaging is more difficult than you think.

I lived in a town in Italy where parmesan cheese is made. Once we visited the location on a schooltrip and there was a warehouse full of giant shelves filled with those cheese forms of parmesan. The teachers joked that even if all the students of my school came and occupied the shelves we would still leave like half of the shelfs empty
