After watching this I contacted Kent, and he and I talked for about a half hour about how to make all of the equipment and the process of making the Mochi itself. He is very kind and open to teaching others about the culture! HUGE THANKS!

C N in the video he is part of the Japanese cultural society in California. I called them, asked to talk got the guy in the video. It was as simple as that. He is really nice and has a lot of information to share. This is pre COVID. I do not know how to contact him now.

Because she’s the one of the only Tasty producers who actually went to culinary school. It’s like that one 2nd grader who already knows how to multiply, so all the other kids want his/her help, then that kid turns into the most popular kid in the grade. A lot of Tastys producers can cook and follow recipes but, Rie is one of the few people who actually understands why she’s doing something while cooking a certain meal. It’s funny because Buzzfeed hires a lot of producers, directors and content creators like Adam, Andrew and Niki but, not actual culinary talent like Rié, that’s probably the reason Buzzfeed has been laying people off. They have too much of one thing. And not enough of another.
I always love watching the " We Tried To Make" videos because of Rie.
