    Isn't it hilarious how the pin up assistants can do black women's make up better than the make up artist in the other buzz feed videos?

      +Mananeao SD I meant the makeup in THIS video was stunning. They really enhanced what they naturally had, both in hair in make up, instead of trying to make them something they're not.
      The clown one was done HORRIBLY! I felt so bad seeing the outcome after all that excitement.

      tbh I am white and I don't want to be white. In my class there are only around 4 people that are white and other than that I still never wanted to be white 1. you can see more pores 2. tbh I feel thick girls (which I am ) look better in a darker skin tone 3. the fact that people say black lives matter and I get it back lives absolutely do matter but if a white person said white lives matter they would get hate and be called a douch or racist so it's just that I feel like coloured girls and guys look prettier and I'm not saying that white girls aren't pretty but there are just so many things that are better about coloured people than there is white people

    I completely agree that young girls of color are brainwashed to think they're not beautiful from a painfully young age. I'm Latina but my mom is racially Caucasian Cuban so I was really pale like my mom as a child, had bright red hair and freckles and everyone, especially my mom, acted like I was some huge gift from God because I wasn't super tan like my Mexican, Aztec blooded father. Then my hair turned jet black by the time I was 10 and I got super tan from playing outside all the time and my mom acted like it was the worst thing in the world. She started coloring my hair because of it and didn't let me play outside anymore. I had to sneak out when she would take her afternoon naps so I could play. It was ridiculous. It got so bad that by the time I was 12 I completely stopped eating and became severely suicidal and self-harmed. It took a loooooot of soul searching, getting tf away from my mom, and having my own daughters to get those stupid ideas of not being worth anything out of my head. I tell my daughters constantly that as long as they are kind, caring, loving, and empathetic that they're incredibly beautiful. They're both very pale, with light brown hair, one with blue eyes, one with my black eyes, but none of that matters to me. They'll be just as beautiful to me if they grow up as good people. I let them choose their own clothes, their own hairstyles, their own jewelry(because they both happened to love it), their own hobbies, etc. I refuse to raise more kids that think they're not good enough bc they aren't exactly what their parents try to force them to be.

      Ray Bees The reason they titled the video like that is because you don't normally see people of other ethnicity's other than white doing pinup. I don't think they're trying to separate races. They're just trying to showcase what pin up looks like on people of colour.

    • @aneeshaedwards1625
      @aneeshaedwards1625 8 лет назад +33

      But by doing this, they are lifting the spirits of people who aren't white because it is harder to deal with your race when you don't see people like you on TV and ads. It hurts when you aren't represented. I should know, I'm a Black girl and it took me a while to appreciate my skin color and find myself beautiful. It also includes them in an era that should have included them (well, their ancestors).

    • @joywalsh6150
      @joywalsh6150 8 лет назад +6

      There were sooooo many and such amazing talent too!! Nina Simone, Etta James, Arethea Franklin, just to start, even the lady who sang showboat was let down, she was WOC but had to pretend to be a white person playing a black woman (huuuuh???!) I think (in my humble opinion) that the society/media nowadays doesn't allow more diversity in entertainment than the 10 or 15 WOC that are around nowadays and they have been turned white (Niki ninja, lil Kim even Beyoncé is at times) in their skin tones, songs and how they act etc, and I think it's such a shame! Each ethnicity has wonderful things to bring to the rest of the world and we need more beautiful WOC!!

    • @zcbsajsbxnsdjzcnaskxn8883

      Nicki minaj has never bleached her skin or had any work done on her face. Look up her highschool yearbook photo and you'll see she was always light. Same for beyonce. Beyonce actually tanned herself for a good portion of her career

    Being naturally blonde haired, blue eyed, and insanely pale myself, I never understood why people aspire to look like this. I've actually been jealous of people of color. I think these women are very beautiful and unique. So in conclusion, things aren't always what they're talked up to be. ❤️ Stay true to yourself and never let anyone tell you you're not beautiful because of your hair, skin color, race, etc.

    • @juliatan5628
      @juliatan5628 8 лет назад +14

      I think that everyone wants the things they can't have - at least at some point in time. Blondes want dark hair, straight locks want curly locks, darker people wish they were lighter, pale people want to be tan, etc. But this phase only lasts for as long as you let it. Once you learn to find beauty in yourself, you'll be content with everything you are. So just remember to listen your own great advice: Stay true to yourself and never let anyone, INCLUDING YOURSELF, tell you you're not beautiful ^_^

    I grew up watching Disney and all the pretty princesses were blonde so I promised myself when I grow up I'm gonna dye my hair and have blue eyes with white skin. I did grow up but I don't like that anymore. I'm happy with my hair color my eye color and my skin color. Instead of just looking at white people as beautiful now I l look up to Gorgeous women of color like Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Rihanna. It really doesn't matter how you look you just have to learn to love yourself 💛💛

      Asal Esmaeeli when I was little, I always felt the same, I promised myself I would dye my hair blonde and be skinny, like a Disney princess. But I saw movies like Pocahontas and Mulan and I was able to realize that having dark hair and being curvy is actually ok. It's really sad how influential things in your childhood can affect you for so long.

    • @0Free._Alien._Abductions0
      @0Free._Alien._Abductions0 7 лет назад +6

      Asal Esmaeeli Same here. In elementary I always wanted to dye my hair blonde and have longer hair because I wanted to be as close to a white Disney princess as possible because I only ever noticed the white ones or celebrities. I even took "you act like a white girl" as a great compliment because I didn't act like the stereotypical black girl. Truth was I was just weird, I didn't act like either stereotype white or black. But as I got older I started to see my skin and hair is actually beautiful. And I'd hope any race of people see themself as beautiful because that is important. I think here in America we need more diverse famous celebrities because that's what some small children look up to. There are a lot of black ones now but I think it would be cool if we had more Hispanic or Asian ones for children of those ethnicities in America to look up to and aspire to be. Some people may think it's not that big a deal, but in reality it is.

      It sucks how little representation we have in the media. When I was younger I hated being black, I hated my hair and I felt so bad about myself at a young age. And it's also sad that little black and other people of colour have to go around looking up to non-people of colour but thinking that they'll never truly be that beautiful. I mean, don't get me wrong, I still look up to lots of non-poc role models but it'd have been great to see other people of colour like me growing up.

      I wish my hair was naturally curly. I'm Filipino by the way. All the pretty girls at school with their hair in curls get all the attention because they're pretty. I wish I could look as skinny or as tall as them. They have flawless skin and me with my acne ridden body. It's not fair. You are soooo lucky. I don't know how to love my body. I just can't embrace my flaws. All the other girls are white (Armenians, Europeans) and then there are Hispanic/Latina girls who are still prettier by far. All the other Asian girls are flawless like the rest. Then there's me. The one Asian with the tanned skin and hourglass (I Guess?). I wish I was as skinny as them. If you want to know what I look like you can look at one of my vlogs. I don't need you to like or subscribe just watch. Thank you for taking the time to read this. You're beautiful, all of you reading this.

    there are some badass WoC who modelled in the pinup style & of COURSE they're never championed as much as Bette Paige, Marilyn Monroe, etc. the ladies look great here, and thank goodness there are many faces into pinup styles now :)

      Agreed. I grew up idolizing Marilyn Monroe but I knew I'd never be like her because I'm black. But this is so inspiring.

    one of my white friends who isn't very open minded said "you're over exaggerating, representation doesn't matter. you probably just imagined it" but so many other girls feel the same way that I do so ???

      A lot of white people say things like this because they are the ones that are often represented well in the media, so they can't imagine having to only cling to one or two token people as a representation of them.

    They all look amazing! For an wonderful example of a pin up starlett from the 40's that was also a woman of color, check our Rita Hayworth. She's probably my favorite actress from that time. Definitely the most beautiful, at least to me. Her real name was Margarita Carmen Cansino. Her father was Spanish. They just dyed her hair red.
