What a find! I've often wondered why more people don't do what you are doing. I always hate seeing all those tops going to waste. I hope you get lots of quality firewood. Enjoy your videos.
It’s definitely a great opportunity I’ve got to get some good quality hardwood for firewood! I hate seeing stuff like this go to waste! I’m surprised these loggers didn’t do more harvesting of the tops and sell them as firewood logs?? I appreciate you watching and commenting Joe. Have a great week
Thanks Tony, it was left in a bit of a mess, but it’s going to make a lot of firewood. Once it dries out some I will be able to get the tractor up there and that will make things a little easier.
You did hit the jackpot! Great that it’s so close/handy for you to come and go. You’d better set a mailbox up on that ridge because you’ll probably be spending a lot of time there 😉😂😂
It’s a lot of really good size firewood stuff left up there. I don’t think the video really captures it all. It wasn’t left in the best shape, but I think it will be worth the effort. 😊 And it is definitely a bonus that it’s so close! Just waiting on some drier ground and I’m going to get the tractor and dump truck up there 👌🏻
It’s definitely a lot of wood! I just hope with it being mostly elevated that it hasn’t taken on too much water. It’s definitely going to keep me busy!! Have a good week Bobby
Jackpot!! Man watching you do the initial walk around I was probably drooling a bit😂 I bet that Oak that is all suspended off the ground is all good! It last for years. I was itching to grab my boots and saws this whole video! Awesome score Brandon👍🏻👍🏻
It’s a lot! More up there than I ever would’ve thought. Especially the white oak. I sure wouldn’t mind having your help for a weekend, that’s for sure 😅😂 Hoping to yield a lot of wood and save it from rotting. 🪵🪵🪵
Goooood lord, that's a lot of timber Brandon. You're gonna have more wood than 84 Lumber. After about the first 5 minutes, I was like "OK, now he's just flexing" 😂😂😂One of the best scores I've ever seen, I caught myself licking my chops while you were buckin' up that oak.
It’s definitely a lot of wood. Unfortunately a lot of what I have harvested so far has been pretty punky 👎🏻 I haven’t completely given up on it, but it’s definitely put a damper on the amount I’ll harvest over there
I came across a pile like that when I first started out, took me about a month to get as much as I could, big stuff and some was rotted but we hauled it to our woodyard and split it and it yielded about 15 cords and we sold it all our first year doing firewood! No seasoning needed!
I really got it hard on this for a bit. Unfortunately most of the wood I got was punky. It had just sat too long. Really unfortunate cause there’s a lot over there. It would burn, but where I sell most of mine it just wouldn’t be good quality and a lot of effort and waste to get good wood out of it. I appreciate you watching and commenting
Thanks Bill, It is going to be some work for sure, but I definitely think the reward will be worth the effort. Going to make a lot of firewood that is just the right size for handling and splitting. Have a great week Bill
I hope it’s all as good inside as it looks on the outside. It’s going to definitely get me stocked up for the upcoming season! Jacob said i need to put up a mailbox down there cause I’m going to be down there a lot 🤣
That’s one heck of a bunch of wood buddy. What you cut looked really good. Be nice to get some logs home so you keep cutting when you have an hour or less here and there. Just remember the wood is awaiting. Later and happy cutting. Al Club Dora
It’s a lot of wood for sure! Some really nice sized logs for firewood.and fairly accessible for the most part. Hoping I can salvage most all of it. Once it dries up, I’m going to take the tractor over and try to pull out some logs to take home 👌🏻
New subscriber. Don't worry about lost time, just put your mind to it an do the best you can. You have found a close opportunity, lot of good wood, and sprug ans summer will allow you plenty of time to harvest all you can! Getre Done!
I appreciate the sub! I’m definitely going to do my best to get all I can before it goes bad! It’ll be some work, but I enjoy it and it’s free! With it being so close to the house, it helps a bunch. Lots of options 👌🏻
Appreciate you watching and commenting. Most loggers I know will take the tops when they cut the timber. Then sell them to firewood producers. Not sure why these loggers just left it all??
For sure hit the jackpot, but like you said, gonna be impossible to get all of that out before it’s rotten.. better than nothing though I love those woods how wide-open they are all of our woods has Brush all three it could hardly walk. We try to get our property logged before we started building had all lined up then the guy flaked on us so we just decided to let it go for now
TOUCHDOWN!!! Gonna need the Sassy Massey to pull that mess apart. Well worth it. Kinda what my ash woods look like only whole trees not tops. Any hickory?
Definitely going to enlist the help of Sassy! I am going to cut up and drag some of those tops apart to make it easier to get 👍🏻 I’ve seen one really nice hickory that actually wasn’t logged but was uprooted in a storm! Really nice one
I agree, the only issue I’ve found is where these trees have been down for a while, the smaller wood seems to be really punky and soft.i think it’s rotting first. At least on a few of the branches I tested out. 😒
I had been fighting it for a few weeks and noticing the same thing. Turns out I had grabbed the wrong file. I was using a 7/32” file in 3/16” chain. I would’ve never thought it would’ve made that big of difference but boy I was wrong. I ending up getting a new chain and she’s cuttin like a champ (big chips) 😊 I won’t make that mistake again, I put the 7/32” files in the cabinet 🤣
Wow.. I’m no where near 300 acres worth! I’m going to make the most of it and try to harvest all i can for firewood. Just hoping I’m not too late! I’m definitely hoping for some sunshine and it drying out so i can get the tractor over there. I appreciate you watching and commenting Nicholis.
Typically the rot takes about 3 years to truly begin. I’ve seen some white oak tops last for a much as 5…it all depends on ground contact. Yes, I don’t blame you for regret.
I hope so Mark. Most of what is over there is somewhat elevated off the ground so hopefully that helps. I’m going to make the most i can out of it and salvage all i can. Take care Mark and have a great week 🇺🇸🪓🪵
Your tone is somber and words like unfortunate, waste, salvageable. I would be excited that is awesome firewood. Like a neighbor letting you pick all the apples you want. The forest will grow back.
I totally agree! I wasn’t really around it, just seen it from the road but I thought the same thing. Unfortunately it happens alot around here where the loggers throw big $$ numbers around to these land owners and then leave them with a mess!
It’s definitely going to make a lot of firewood. It was left in a bit of a mess, but once i can get the tractor up there, it’ll make things a little easier. I appreciate you watching and commenting Jason. 👊🏻👍🏻

Sweet score Brandon and good on you for trying to salvage what you can! It’s hard to see all that great firewood going to waste.

Looks like lots of good wood on the ridge. That'll keep ya busy for a while. Take care my friend.

Morning Brandon , this is going to keep you very busy and so close to your place is awesome . 👍🏻🪵🔥
It’s definitely gonna take up some of my spare time 😂 but I’m going to enjoy it! Hopeful that I’m not too late! It’s some awesome firewood 🪵

Thank you for the great comment. I wish I’d been a year or so sooner. But I’m thankful for what I got and we’ll keep diggin!
Looks like you’ve found a honey hole! Pretty awesome that’s it’s mostly white oak and red oak. Better get at it!
It’s definitely a honey hole!! So far it’s been all really solid. There’s a few really nice hickory trees to boot. I’ve got to keep the saw running 😂😅

They give new meaning to the term, human waste. At least you're putting it to use. Good on you.

Gonna try to my best to get all I can. But like I said, going to definitely be really selective. Especially at first
The bark is not even falling off, it will last a good while
2 years on white oak ain’t nothing, especially if it’s not laying on the ground.
You hit the mother load Good job my friend have a good day
It’s a pretty good haul! I think it’s gonna make a lot if firewood. Appreciate ya Frank 👌🏻🪓🪵

It’s going to be some work, but i think it will be worth it. Going to get the tractor up there as soon as it dries up some. Have a great week Len
@@McKameyFarms yes, have fun I know I wood 👍
That’s some long ass rounds your cutting there you must have a giant wood stove
They’re just 16” rounds. Must just look big in camera.
@@McKameyFarms funny yeah 👍 cameras do do that
You have a pretty nice amount of wood there mate 👍🇧🇻
It’s a honey hole of wood for sure! Lots of hardwood that’s going to make a ton of firewood! I appreciate you watching and commenting 🔥🪵🪓
Small wood is just as good as big logs also small wood is easy splitting.

Sharpen and or set depth gauge/rakers. Your saw should be producing nice sized chips rather than sawdust.

Score buddy! Keep cuttin'!!
Thank you! It’s definitely a lot of wood. Hoping to get out as much as I can! I appreciate the Sub 👊🏻🔥🪵
@@McKameyFarms very welcome, as a small channel myself I try to support where I can.

A lot of work
Yes! Lots of work. I wish I’d gotten to it a lot sooner.
I think you will need a bigger saw… very long to buck with this
@@dfkustom8 I actually purchased a Stihl 462C with a 25” bar 👌🏻😁

Whatever company was hired to do that logging. They didn't know what they were doing. That is a total mess.
I totally agree! I wasn’t really around it, just seen it from the road but I thought the same thing. Unfortunately it happens alot around here where the loggers throw big $$ numbers around to these land owners and then leave them with a mess!
Find others who need wood and would go in for a share. 3 or 4 men and families could do alot
Got to speak up
I’ll check my settings.
Bad loggers. No excuse. Wasteful.
I totally agree. If I was the land owner I would’ve been really unhappy with the mess they left
There will beca few loads in there.. makes that sawdust fly..
