    A local company to me makes their own blend that’s a 7-20-20. It’s called “trophy blend”. My Bermuda was so thick, that I had to scalp it because my reel mower was wobbling all around because it got a bit spongy. It also helps me to get it ready for overseeding in Fall. I’m in Southern CA. We haven’t had a measurable rain since mid June. Couple of little rains that are just enough to make your vehicle look nasty from it. Luckily, I have an in ground irrigation system and my water price is reasonable. Other properties are paying 300-500 water bills to keep their landscapes alive. Yikes! So, I put the fert, and watered heavily. It’s coming back greener and greener every day. I water 3 times a week but can get by on two.

      I'm in Houston Texas. I didn't use stress blend but I did pretty much have to double up on my supplemental fert applications to get a high potash number and essentially make my own stress blend. I also started using hydretain and that really helped my yard recover. Thanks to drought my yard was about 50% green and 50% brown/dormant before I did that stuff lol This season got me thinking of overseeding with a more drought tolerant bermuda. What are you planning to go with for your overseed?

    • @andrewp.619
      @andrewp.619 2 года назад +2

      @@treflippa2 I overseed with perennial rye grass every year with no ill effects to my Bermuda. I spray it out when temps rise up in Spring. I’ll never overseed my hybrid Bermuda with Bermuda seed again. I tried one year, several years ago when we first moved into our new house and it just doesn’t blend well, even though it was a “hybrid” Bermuda seed. No true such thing exist. Despite it being expensive as ever. I use plugs from existing areas to fill in bare spots.

    • @treflippa2
      @treflippa2 2 года назад +1

      @@andrewp.619 haha I just realized you said overseeding in fall. Yeah I've heard the same types of stories about overseeding hybrid bermuda. You however are the first to mention even with the expensive seeds it still doesn't blend right. Which is pretty much what I was banking on if I did do an overseed next season. I guess I'll hold off on it. I do know my current bermuda can look great as it was pretty phenomenal last season in its first year but I guess these super high Temps this year were just too much. But I also just learned about hydretain and stress blend amongst other things. So I think if I make sure to incorporate those in my next season lawn care agenda I should be good. Especially with seeing how well the yard responded to it besides I personally don't want to buy the seeds anyway due to price lol thanks for the replies and tips btw.

    Use plant growth regulator every 14 days spoon fed and verti cut every 10 days together with your regular fertility program and most all your problems will be gone in respect of brown colour and irregular cutting due to weather. The PGR will stunt the vertical growth and the verti cutting will allow sunlight through the canopy both massively greening the Bermuda plant and meaning none frequent cutting will not brown up your lawn every time.

    We live in Central Texas and water with irrigation once a week. Our yard is 75% green but the rest is crunchy. We've learned that we cut our bermuda too tall. It's at 3-4" right now. Should we try cutting it down using the 1/3 method in this heat? We're due to hopefully get a week of rain soon 🙏
