What's hilarious is I have been working on a project for a video on exactly this with one of these Lenovo Thinkcentre boxes and Batocera. The difference is I'm doing some more physical modding and putting it into an Xbox 360 case
I bought small PCs and created a small side income building them and selling them as Plug & Play game devices local to me. I've been making a decent amount of money, seems like my Thailand trip will happen next year.
@@basicdadtech I buy the refurbished Dell PCs in bulk, about 6-7 at a time from an enterprise so I get a good deal on those. Sometimes 1 or 2 are trash and cannot be used though, it happens. I usually just save the memory and scrap the rest. I started with about 5 Dell Treasure Box PCs since those got dumped quick, and they look nice for a living room "console" I also have a 120TB DAS FILLED of everything gaming you could think of, so I just move the files and fix it up.
Great video, question. Does adding batocera to a portable hardrive erase it? already have drive with all my games and didn't wanna risk losing them. Thanks!
I'd like to know which one you bought for $30... cause most starts at $70 (the older models). Excluding Storage device and Memory. Which cost extra $$$.
Hey bro so I recently just ordered a mini PC simulator to the one that was on the right at the beginning of the video , and every time I see this process done it’s done with using 2 PCs even tho I have a mini PC I still will need a primary PC to access and download and transfer batocera and stuff also right ? This can’t be done using only a mini PC and its own storage space ?
I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the software holds a bunch of drivers, as when I swap my drive to other pcs that have different specs (gpu/cpu), it will recognize them. You don't have to visit AMD catalyst or the geforce experience once booting up the system, it's all plug and play.
@@aaronwoodcock4715 which tells me they are "generic" drivers. Therefore barely harnessing anything the gpu's on these systems can produce. If you went with an older version of windows you can actually run these machines with spec'd drivers and really see some performance out of them.

@@MrJ0mmy...Of course it is much better to have enough RAM working in Dualchannel mode, especially if we are using the Integrated Graphics of the CPU, hopefully you can place two 4GB-DDR3 modules (2x4GB = 8GB in Dualchannel) to have better performance with the iGPU (Integrated Graphics Unit). On the other hand, you must understand that you have a very weak processor, both at the Singlecore and Multithread levels, so the overall performance in games is not to celebrate the "World Championship"; That is, a weak processor, with only 2 cores/2 threads, with low Mhz, little cache memory, very basic iGPU, with little RAM and in Singlechannel mode (a single module)? Well, the performance is very far from adequate. * You could still play/emulate something, but with enough ram and in dualchannel. * On the Desktop-PC where I write these lines, it has a MoBo socket 1150, a 2x4GB DDR3-1333Mhz kit (8GB in Dualchannel) and a weak Celeron G1820 (2.7Ghz) with just 2 cores/2 threads and a very basic iGPU from Intel, although I I have a basic AMD HD 8570 1GB GDDR3, which is obviously more powerful than the Intel iGPU (only cost me 15 USD in 2021). The thing is that the comparison between your CPU and mine would give my Celeron G1820 3x1 as the winner, this in both Singlecore and Multithread; and as for Integrated Graphics, mine would be 25-30% more powerful than yours; So there you have a very, very, very weak PC. Surely BATOCERA-Linux and other similar ones will require less hardware to function correctly than Windows, but in my case when using Windows 8.1/64Bit with the Dolphin Emulator, I was able to try the Zelda WInd Waker at 30fps, but I noticed drops to 20fps at certain times due to of the Celeron G1820, either due to its weakness at the Singlecore level or due to the lack of more Threads (the CPU in said game can be put at 90-100% load and only at the beginning, since I did not get to face any Boss ). The AMD HD 8570 1GB GDDR3 had no problems in that game when handling a 2x Resolution (compared to the original in GameCube), AA-8x and FA-16x, I suppose I could try with 3x Resolution.
