it’s funny bc it’s from r/nosleep which is infamous for being a fiction-writing sub that everyone thinks is a “true story telling sub” so this is literally horror fiction that a bunch of people think is real for some reason

My great-grandma came to America through Ellis Island, and growing up, she used to tell us all about how when she got there, the immigration officers couldn’t pronounce her last name, so they just changed it to where they were from.
This story horrified me, just because it was so upsetting to see all these people be stripped of their heritage.
So last year, I went looking for what our last name could’ve been. I searched several records of prior to arrival and after, and I was shocked to see that the results were THE EXACT SAME.
Apparently there was a rumor going around that they did this, but there was no actual evidence to support that it happened at the time my grandma was referring to. It actually lead me down an interesting path of how Italians got their last names and why they were the way they were.
Point is, even if someone goes through something incredibly historical, it does not mean that all the information they give is accurate.
Tbh I don’t hate it. I hate it as a “conspiracy,” but kind of an interesting fanfic! I’d watch it out of curiosity if I didn’t have anything better to do.
It does kind of concern me about anybody who could even wonder if it could be real, but overall I’d give it a B for creativity!

Sounds more like a creepypasta than anything else. People loved to believe those to be true back in the day too, even though it was just the way of storytelling (make it sound like it's someone's retelling of a situation that happened)

I think this was referencing the 2012 book Deck Z: The Titanic the unsinkable, the undead. Which tells the story of a scientist fleeing to the titanic with a vile of well.. zombie virus to escape Germans planning to weaponize it. However, a german spy is sent and the virus is let loose on the ship. Captain Smith and others try to stop it and the ship goes down. It ends with an epilogue of a little girl, who the scientist rescued, reading a newspaper on the Titanic.
It’s a great read, but definitely not real.

HELLO RAF Avila I have been into the unsinkable RMS Titanic very since I was 5 years old and I still am I am 35years old and I am so very much obsessed with the unsinkable RMS Titanic
I read one about a "unaired episode" of Everybody Hates Chris. It said Rochelle killed the family with a kitchen knife but the bloody details and Criminal Minds aspect of it finally made me realize how it actually feels to be legitimately creeped out. It was a neck tingling, spine chilling vulnerable jumbled feeling I've never felt before in my life. Just reading it felt so out of place because one detail makes something "disturbing" but when it's bursting at the seams with details of bloodiness and gore and ghostliness, it's honestly scary to know someone thought of it. Like with the TV show criminal minds and csi etc, it takes some really dark and twisted people to think of some really dark and twisted details. And the world is full of people who do dark and twisted, morbid, unthinkable things. Ever since, I've had to lock my bedroom door EVERY night, the majority without sleep. It's actually locked right now even. Imagine if you were on your phone or computer like normal but instead of reading something you're anticipating, you read a random, slowly, gradually progressing "I'm gonna kill you" in the middle of a description of a lighthearted comedy with kids and a loving family. I had to do a few mental double takes to make sure I was actually seeing what I was reading, it literally made me question my sanity for some moments while reading it. Zombie movies dont bother me, stephen king's It doesn't, nightmare on elm Street doesn't, but the excorcist does. All I know is it was the first time I genuinely felt fear just from reading something random and I never wanna feel it again; which i don't even really get when watching anything that's supposed to be scary. *shudders*

That's impossible because a survivor Archibald Gracie was basically right on top of the dome when a huge wave came over and tried to wash him overboard, and that's when the dome imploded. He felt the whirlpool effect trying to pull him down with the ship, and that's when he started to swim away. If the second funnel fell onto the dome, he would have been crushed by it

It’s not a theory it’s a creepy pasta-
Not gonna lie, I can actually see this story plot scenario as the basis for a really schlocky historical fiction horror movie. For the premise to work though, the plot would need to be so outrageous and so removed from reality that the audience can easily get that it’s impossible fantasy and in no way can be seen as disrespectful or inaccurate. Much like how Inglorious Basterds and Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter took historical people and events, and married them to outrageous revenge fantasies of burning the entire leadership of the 3rd Reich alive in a theater set on fire by one of their Jewish victims or having the Great Emancipator fight the undead bloodsuckers, a “Titanic but 28 Days Later” might just be batshit insane enough to work! Kudos to r/nosleep for coming up with this one!!👍🏻

How did the titanic still sink when it’s watertight doors where closed?
The ship was designed to stay afloat if up to four of the sixteen watertight compartments became flooded. But when the ship struck the iceberg, six compartments were breached and as they flooded, water spilled into the other compartments, pulling the ship’s bow down.
4 compartments were the most the ship could take before sinking. 6 of the 16 were flooded making the ship slowly sink until the open areas like the 2 Grand Staircases and Bridge flooded making it speed up on her plunge.
