I never really appreciated your videos until I started to notice how many other channels I like to watch have turned into just talking. You don't do that, you just get right down to building whatever it is you're building and you don't say a word. I like that and I hope you don't change your format because there are people like me (I think) who appreciate that. Good stuff!
I love how you build these things using a fine marker, a couple drills and an 4.5" angle grinder. It makes me think maybe I can do some of this stuff, too! Thank you!
Amazing skills! All the things I have learnt in my apprenticeship are seen gelling together. And then no clutter, no talk is pleasing. A great experience.
Just a educated thought Donn, metal etching primer is key to stop rust b4 it can start!!! Use a snow plow off a atv on mower and both blade and mower rusting, use a cheap harbor freight winch to lower and raise, great idea on the side to side, would ready cut down on off and on changing angles on blade, thanks for the idea!
Cable clamps the saddle always goes on the live line. An old crane rigger told me “never saddle a dead horse “ I’ve watched a lot of your videos your a clever designer and fabricator
I wish I had tilt springs on my plow, but it would be hard to reengineer. It looks like you have a good design for your plow. On my dedicated snow plowing machine, I have tilt and lift cylinders from a plow I got at the scrap yard, and I plan to use these along with the included lights. I plan to use a rear from a hydrostatic Cub Cadet mower on mine.
Bring on the snow. In Estonia that is. Winter has met its match with the DonnDIY UTV and plow. However I do think you’ll be rethinking the trip spring setup. They seem weak plus I believe the 2 springs connected together will separate when the blade trips and snaps back upright. The winch for power angle is brilliant. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome build and ingenuity! If I may offer a few learning opportunities though. Your cable clamps are installed upside down, remember "never saddle a dead horse" and you'll never get it wrong again. MIG welds should always be pushed, not pulled.
Great Video Donn .. years ago I had a atv with a snow plow .. the winch had steel cable ..did not last long rolling back and forth over the same 4 inches .. hope the rope holds up better for you .. keep a eye on the winch rope if it breaks while you are driving ,, well the plow makes a real good emergency break and the person driving go's up and over the handlebars .. a friend went threw his windshield .. also a good idea if the plow shoes are adjustable for height .. till the ground is frozen , I have had to rake a lot of stone that got plowed up ..
Just an FYI. It’s not rope. It’s synthetic winch cable. Supposed to be longer lasting than wire cable. Either way it is much nicer to use than a traditional winch cable when using it to get unstuck since it doesn’t develop the splinters you inevitably get in your hands.
Can't wait to see the next episode. It's brilliant to watch what is an idea is your head (or on paper which we don't see) get made into something great. Keep it up.
My friend Rick and i would watch your videos and comment to each other about them. He passed yesterday December 18. I watch this episode while remembering him.
Donny if you keep those double springs I would take a flat bar and cnc cut some slots for them to connect to the flat bar rather than together. This should help them from coming on and off.
Really loving having your videos back on youtube. Your fabrication is brilliant, always well thought out. Alot of work goes into these projects and all the video making. Its brilliant, thank you.
14:25 Nice bump stops can be obtained from fiat ducato leaf springs rubber pad replacements. I can also recommend just using rubber hose and 8mm zip tie, it is stainless and adjustable by using more or less hose :>
Always great videos! Helped me hone my skills. I wouldn't use a caliper to scribe lines, they make carbide tipped scriber calipers. I guess if they are cheap calipers it's okay but it still troubles me to see it being done.
You do really nice work. Just FYI though, you actually do want play or slop at your blade angle pivot point not only to let the cutting edge of the blade follow the terrain but also because the tip the cutting edge changes height when the blade is angled.
Great fabrication ......As usual.....A future proofing suggestion though. You have welded on the scraper edge it would be better bolted on, it's a piece that will wear out pretty quick. I have used the bolts that hold 'rock teeth' onto the front edge of tractor buckets they are counter sunk so sit quite flat and are really strong. .......................keep up the good work.
hi Donn, it's not only what you make, which is great, but also how you make it, and .... the way of filming is crystal clear, orderly and didactic ... they become addicted to those who follow you ... after each of your videos I am motivated to return to my workshop ... really you have class. Personally, I know it's a lot of work, but selfishly I hope you will do a lot of videos again .... Happy New Years!
I live in Maine, USA. Love me a good snowplow! Hit this video so hard the second I saw it. Been a subscriber since the amphibious vehicle and have watched every video
Great to see you again, Donn you need a large welding table, to get off those knees. Yea your young but think about that for a Project.... Thanks again, Donn :)
i was going say you deserve a break from posting videos after completion of UTV but i look forward to your next project SO MUCH that i'm happy to see you down on the floor working on next project! keep up the good work!!
A lot of the stuff you grind could be done with a belt sander, you should either make or get one, they're really good at cleaning edges fast and neat, plus, belts last longer than discs.
A idea if the kick down springs are too soft you could try old hood springs.. like on the old pickup trucks or even garage door springs might work also .. don't know how strong the springs your using are it's just a thought.. look like trampoline springs..
@Donn DIY Great video as always mate. Have you ever thought about putting a pivoting weight onto your cutting saw so that it will keep the saw upright when the weight that is at the opposite end of the pivot is facing backward & then as you go to cut the steel you flip it forward so that the weight pulls the saw down onto the cutting surface at an appropriate feed rate? If you used a 3 foot long swing arm pivot with 15 kg of weight on the end it would cut very fast as it pulls the chop saw down automatically.

I have to say Donn you lay some really nice beads
Fantastic!

He rarely speaks, but you are right, his vlogs are full of actual content, not 3/4 filled with useless fluff
@@GaisaSanktejo Yup. Guys with their face splattered all over on my screen are gone very quickly. I don't subscribe to them.
Some just keep talking, I wanna see some action. Made in Poland though sometimes skips over the fabricating a bit too fast for my taste
Your not afraid of hard work, I appreciate that. Turning an idea into reality takes time and effort. Thanks for putting in the effort 👍
But I miss: Pretty good!
I've been subscribed to you for 3 years, I haven't missed a single video, and it's always interesting.👍
Your design, craftsmanship, and usage of materials really make your videos a joy to watch. Amazing work!
На самом интересном месте 🤨 . Как всегда, крутяк. За монтаж, отдельные👏👏👏
Hi Donn,
So many times I've wondered, what can Donn do
next to impress me, well, you've done it again.
YOU'RE A GENIUS.
Thanks for the video.

I was just about to post the same thing....lol.
Of all your tools, my favorite is probably MR. CHOP! I love that cut of saw.
Fabricating like a boss in Vans 👌👌
Looks like Mitutoyo hooked the brother up. Fantastic equipment, for fantastic builds!!!
Nice work, I learned a few techniques. I recommend a band saw for most metal cutting. Quieter and no stink.

Awesome work Donn.and great structural engineering for extra support on the blade.

Thanks for watching!
Hi, Donn!! Thank You for all your awesome videos! Merry Christmas (Eve) ;-) and Happy New Year, from New England, USA!
That's a clever solution for the blade turning.
AWESOME VIDEO AND WORK .
I simply learn so much watching these videos, thanks for publishing!
Hallo
You are an inspiration. May I suggest a future project? A welding table. Trust someone older than you. Knees don't last forever.
He has one. He just doesn't use it...

The slop will develop naturally over time with wear and tear. 😀 I do have pretty level-ish yard and driveways to plow so no worries there though.😉

You'd need something stiff to bolt it onto, though. Maybe bolt a consumable edge to the welded one?
Très belle vidéo comme d'habitude bon courage à vous pour la suite des travaux
A better built plow than the store one for family truck. Been a good one Donn
