When I made my Argo plow frame. I was worried about the load on the bearing supports, and breaking them. I ended up running 2 supports all the way back underneath and tying in to the hitch on the back. Keep up the great content.
Good craftsmanship ... a fit so perfect that it holds itself in place while you fetch the bolts. Great job Donn, very cool project and job well done. Thanks for sharing. Merry Christmas in your frozen paradise.
Nice mod. I would also run a vertical member up the middle and attach it to the bottom winch bracket bolt to reduce the torsion on the axle mounts up an down. There will be a lot of dynamic and shock loads plowing.
Your craftsmanship and engineering is amazing. I was a 91E (Machinist/welder), in the US Army and I don't think I could come up with something so well thought out and put together. Great job. I look forward to seeing other projects, in the future.
That was pretty slick. Almost factory fitment and the blade didn't cause a great load on the front end when lifted. A little worried about the track when plowing. Then again I had a plow on a 750 Honda Rubicon quad and it plowed the deepest snow with hardly any tire spin or getting stuck. Good luck on its use.
Awesome job Donn, now to see it working will be fun!! Looking forward to seeing the fun you will have with the 8x8 snow plow. Stay safe and have fun and Happy Holidays to everyone over there. Fred.
Good job Donn! Being quite familiar with Argo's , I wouldn't recommend any attachments to the composite body, motor and clutch assembly as it is.., for reasons that it isn't designed or recommended for this application. If it were a consideration.. I would've opted for a snow-blower on the front instead of a plow. With a snow-blower, you do not need tracks. The added weight with a plow and tracks, [possibly counterweights] for traction would be hard on the sprockets and the rest of the running gear components. A decent blower is cheaper and can be mounted on wheels or skis, and it will throw snow further than you can push it. A blower would be more beneficial for use in deeper snow with a small lightweight machine. The only drawback with the blower is that it needs to be raised several inches off the ground for unpaved driveways.
if you want to have the line work for a long time, I would change it for a strap. Have had one on my ATV for the past winter and never had a problem with it anymore. Way better than a rope in my opinion.
I enjoy your ideas and building projects. Like me, if you have a want and the metal and ability to weld, you can make most anything. And the equally neat thing about doing that is you can customize anything to fit your needs. I do the same. Thumbs Up!
Hallo, mein Freund. Ich verfolge alle Deine Videos. Wieder ein sehr interessantes Projekt und eine saubere Arbeit. Ich freue mich auf weitere Videos von Dir.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice work and nice plow. Do yourself a favour and take off that extra sleeve of protection on the end of the winch line and toss it in the garbage. Tks for sharing
I'm probably not ready for much snow, but hopefully that means we actually get a significant amount this year in Michigan. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year man.
Weather that's considered typical for that time of year-in this case snow, is always relative in Michigan. Born/raised in West MI, I've known weather forecasts to mean: "What time, or day is it?" You could have snow/cold one day or minute-then rain switching to sunshine the next. Things tend to change quite often with Lake MI next door. ;)
@DanKoning777 Oh yeah. I'm from Northern Michigan, but not according to people from the UP, and I have been living in the armpit of Michigan since about 2015. Unless it's a East to West weather pattern we don't get lake effect snow and that's very rare I guess. I miss the snow, but life takes you places sometimes.
Я увидел русскую Ладу. Если я не ошибаюсь, это она!) надеюсь в скором времени увидим видео про ее восстановление) Крепление для отвала получилось отличное!!!
The only thing I might have changed is the washer for the pin. While it is nice and easy. One can get some of that round stock and bend and weld something a bit nicer which will be far thicker and less likely to bend or snap off.
I'd think the longer vehicle with a lower centre of mass would be the better bet. Not that the Bobcat wouldn't do it, but it would probably be a bit of a bucking bronco ride.
Argo frames and wheel mounting areas crack while doing normal Argo stuff! Look at condition before he repaired this one! Now with plow up front it won't last at all!
Depends what you’re plowing. If it’s a long driveway with two inches of snow I’d want the Argo. If it’s a smaller area and/or deep heavy snow I’d use the skid-steer with a bucket. The skid steer is also easier to get stuck and harder to retrieve.
@@quantumbuddhist Not at the moment, no. But I'm not in the least surprised that someone makes a plough blade for skid steers. Anything that's built for digging, should be capable of lifting and shoving, at least; but in all honesty, I'd use the biggest cube bucket I had, and accept the fact that the cutting edge would need repairing eventually, after scraping snow off tarmac. As probably, would the tarmac, after having a straight edge forced over a camber.
i think the position of the plow mount tabs is a bad choice, it's going to add torsion to mount on front axel, feel like it would have been better to put plow mount tabs on front leading edge so force is applied straight back into the chassis rather than at an upwards angle
I suggested a member from the middle of the mount up to the bottom winch bracket bolt for that reason. I hope he heeds our advice before damaging the axles.
Only real problem with a winch design is that there is nothing to keep the blade from bouncing back up, a hydraulic ram will hold it down better and give you better control
You should have used a hydraulic piston instead of a cable. With the cable its only the weight of the plow holding it down with a piston its the weight of the vehicle.
I find myself asking the question, why are you putting a blade on a rubber tired vehicle when you have the tracked vehicle that you built yourself? Cleated tracks work much better on snow and ice that rubber tires ever will.
15:53 I don't think putting the load on one side of the axle is a good idea. Better make it a C shape going around the front axle on the upper side and then continue to grab the same way around the second axle, to spread the load over a larger area of the body.
Love your channel. Been watching a long time. If I might ask, why leave the channel name permanently on the screen for the entire duration of the video. I personally find it a huge distraction. Not a complaint, just an observation, Forgive me if this has been addressed before. please keep up the great content.

I don't own an Argo, but that was my first thought when I saw how Donn mounted the bracket
Still, Donn is a master fabricator
What material is that housing? I was wondering if there was corrosion concerns between that and the mild steel.
Nice work 👍.

Great mods. love the circle work at the beginning
Clean welds bro very clean. Good choice putting it the Argo. Bobcat would have more weight but the Argos more fun lol

I can remember when we used to get snow here in Northern New York and have it last for more than one day.

My coffee and breakfast+Donn DIY new video on Friday it's christmas before time :) salutation young man !!from Montréal,Québec!!
Great as allways.
Eventually a connection between the mounts of the Plow and the Winch. To devide the forces.
I hate snow, having a machine like this might temper that hate a little ❤
Well done! Just in time for the next snow fall. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas Donn!!!!
Perfect design, fabrication, form and function
Merry Christmas🎅🤶🎄⛄❄️🙏🎁
Thank you for sharing this
I hope we get some tracked argo snow action 👍

Merry Christmas DONN to you and your’e loved ones from Denmark. 🎄🎄🎄🎄
Nice work! Interested in how it’s all going to work in the end.
I really like watching you build your own stuff and stuff for things
I see Donn DIY, I click on like first and then watch the video
Happy Holidays to you too Donn, thanks! 👍💪✌
Merry Christmas. Now all you need to build is a 4x4 quad
Thank you for sharing, another great video, always a pleasure watch your video, you are and inspiration 👍👍👍👍
You have a great holiday, Too, Donn!! Great job on the plow frame! Love It!
Be Safe My Friend!🥰🤩❤ From New England, USA! ❄🌨🎄🎅🎑👍
Täitsa nagu päris 😇
Kõva töö 💪💪
I love that lads car you have, great job

Great vid as always wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄

It’s currently 41c in Perth Western Australia. !!!!! Bring a bit of your snow here please.
Looking forward to seeing more. ❤️😎✌️👍
Awesome work as always.
You do nice work ,love your videos
Отличная работа ⚒️ 👍👍👍
Vivement que la neige tombe pour un essai !!!! superbe
👍💪merry Christmas my friend!
Great video
MM77 Approved 👍🏼 👍🏼

👍👍👍Ich wünsche dir und deiner Familie schöne Weihnachten bleibt bitte gesund 🌲🌲🌲
Your fabrication work is sublime as always. Is this to keep your UTV free for logging? Happy holidays!
Cool😮
Great video as always. Hope the modifications work well, and that your family has a blessed CHRISTmas.
For finer adjustment of plow height, add a pulley.
18:15 important detail is that you need to drill into the plastic on the other side! ;)
Next week we're kniting snowchains.. 😂
Why not mount it too the skid-steer? Heavier and more power and industrial strength
but less fun
Might get bogged, this has tracks.
Snow is snow it allway melts each year but tornados in south dont Go away with damage
very very good
6x6 forwarder, 8x8 Argo, next up is a 10x10? :D Enjoy your Christmas Donn
Great build but is the Argo actually better than your UTV for plowing your snow?
Merry Christmas to you and your family Donn.
I would mount it on the bobcat not the Argo
That's why the channel is Called DonnDIY and not Colbytyree2592DIY 😂😊😉

Mr.Donn did you fix the gear in it(or is it the same one)very nice, very nice
EL TRABAJO PERFECTO PERO LOS TORNILLOS MUY CORTOS
Didn't you have this on the other tracked machine you built years ago ? I remember the modded winch motor for plow angle video you did for it.
i think the position of the plow mount tabs is a bad choice, it's going to add torsion to mount on front axel, feel like it would have been better to put plow mount tabs on front leading edge so force is applied straight back into the chassis rather than at an upwards angle

Hey Donn... i want to convert my Argo to proper hydrodtatic drive, like the skid steer. What are your thoughts?
Only real problem with a winch design is that there is nothing to keep the blade from bouncing back up, a hydraulic ram will hold it down better and give you better control
What happen with the cnc plasma?
why you don't use your plasma cnc?
Why not just get the track kit and it'll drive on top of the snow - we used to have one with tracks it was a great bit of kit for on a grouse moor
Quality ...
peace
I noticed that you have Polish keys, have you ever been to Poland?
You should have used a hydraulic piston instead of a cable. With the cable its only the weight of the plow holding it down with a piston its the weight of the vehicle.
People with welder and spare metals are dangerous, they can build anything … 😮
Some off camera drill bit sharpening with angle grinder going on there? :D Nothing negative, just experience talking XD
🤘🤠
