    As a purist I want things to be the best they can. But this video got me thinking…
    I read one potential con is when the water molecules bond with the natural oils they can then dry out leather when the water evaporates and can cause early breakdown of the hide.
    I’d also think that a glove conditioner is not a 1 for 1 replacement for the leathers natural oil. Also while the surface has been treated is the center of the leather dried out?
    That’s just a thought. In reality the leather breakdown helps it to break-in. But could a no water break in allow the leather to last longer by retaining its natural properties?

    If you live in a soft water area (or you for some weird reason distil your water), the marks are less likely to happen as you will have fewer minerals in your water. Also, the 70% EtOH thing makes sense. It's used in biochemistry to remove salts from preps.

    Room temp water is most likely exempt from this as I’m thinking it’s the heat from steaming and hot water treatment, but the treatments loosen the fibers in the leather. It’s good for breaking it in faster, but in 3-4 seasons as your gamer, you’ll notice your glove losing its shape and getting floppier faster. I’d imagine the same “relaxing” and loosening of fibers in the leather is happening in the wool inserts

    I like water break in but not a fan of the "dunk". Don't like the idea of water deep in the finger stalls and that leather needing to dry out. Can't condition deep in there. More of a fan of your old way of pouring water over the glove. Hot/cold not sure it matter much as it gets cold pretty quick but the ASO method. Love your content.

    • @iin.ko_

      I'm with you. Aso (Wilson's glove guru, inventor of superskin, OG glove break-in guy to the stars) says 150-170 degree water, and pours it over with a cup. I've been team BKG since the beginning, but he kinda lost me at the dunk. Seems like a recipe for mold and other nastiness to grow in the deep dark nooks, especially in a glove that's been used a bit.

    • @brettbedard7919
      @brettbedard7919 14 дней назад

      Same concern for me with water/dunk. I always worry about those deep finger stall areas and even the tiny areas where laces thread throughout the glove. If they don’t fully dry your increasing chance of mold/mildew. I’d at least hang glove from fingers to help drain away. Maybe even run a fan on low into the stalls.
      Longevity of the glove my main concern vs instant results.
