Great video! I will add your tips to my next shower stall installation. I also want to give you some tips of my own. After you cut the pipe, you want to debur it. That means remove the debri around the edge with a knife or sand paper. Use a shop vac to pick up the debri around the drain. Clean very well the drain pipe with Isoprophil (rubbing) alcohol using a rag. Cover the rubber gasket inside and out with plumber's lubricant or vaseline if you don't have the lubricant. The lubricant will protect the rubber from drying since rubber is carbon based and will degrade with time. Use the same bigger pipe you initially used (to create a gap around the drain pipe) to push down the rubber gasket. The gasket will slide down with ease because the pipe is clean and thanks to the lubricant. Lastly, use an adjustable wrench at the flat portion of the screw driver, to aid you in turning it to tight that dented brass ring. Your wrist will thank you for this last measure. Overall, thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences.
Yes,....you are right . .. That is why he puted the extra silicone at the end to fill that gap. ...with the flat part of the rubber up, as you say, that would have a niccer, tightter finish.
I have exactly what you have. I have a concrete floor with a hole that needs filling around an ABS drain pipe. You filled your hole partially with gravel. What would be wrong if I filled the entire hole with gravel? Les McSwain
Awesome Job!!!!.... I have to install a shower pan for the first time and your video will certainly help with the install......Thanks so much for taking time to share your knowledge and experience with people like myself that have zero plumbing experience. Also, thanks all those that shared their comments and pointed out how the install could be improved. I am now a subscriber.
Your video was awesome, thank you. very much sir. I learned a lot from this video and yes, I'm doing a project just like the one you're doing now, hopefully. it'll workout for me. Thank you again, and God bless you.
😊one bit of advice to prevent a lot of hair going down the drain go get a small stainless steel screen and put it under the final big square hole drain cover. It will save you a lot if grief. Also between those shims a good idea would be to put some pure silicon so that the shims are not taking up all the weight and it will be distributed evenly. Otherwise good job! I installed a small semi circle shower years ago and after about 7 or 8 yrs the threads became.e loose enough that the drain started to leak. I guess the constant use of the showers caused the threads to loosen. I think it would be a good idea to silicon the threads on the under side of the shower drain so they won't get loose over time . What do you think?😊
Never use shims as this will cause the tray to crack overtime. Bed down the tray using mortar and this will ensure the whole tray is supported properly.
I’m sure there’s probably tons of comments but I’m not gonna read through them. The first couple didn’t mention it but did anybody else see your problem right away PVC glue on ABS pipe. Nah bro. Had me fool that first day. This was a video somebody knew what’s up.
It’s to keep the lime from eating it over time. The1-2in of foam wrap around the outside is so after concretes poured you can then pull that foam wrap and you have a bit of wiggle room to like the p if it’s not perfect like coming up thru walls if it’s out a bit you can push it back in the wall
That silicon on the castle nut is not only unnecessary but looks bad through the grates. At least use clear. But worse than that is, you didn't use a mortar bed. That pan will move and flex and eventually crack.
HELP. question- black pipe came out of the shower pan. How could this happen? several plumbers say they would have to dig to fix etc but none clear on why or how this happened so can you explain how n why this happened? I had no leaks, nothing looks broken or cracked, the edges of the pipe were smooth after I cleaned off I saw the black rubber ring just like the one you set in so wth happened
And your floor you should have put cement underneath your shower pan it will stop the cracking in your shower pan another tip and you need ABS glue for abs piping baby shower is going to crack if you don't put loose cement....
Maybe, maybe not... I've seen elsewhere that silicon is more appropriate to use on the more flex-prone shower pans. The reasoning was that the plumbers putty dries and eventually losses its flexibility over time. With a flexing floor, gaps can occur and these leads to leaks. The silicon is less prone to lose its flexibility over time. However, for nonflexing pans, putty is the preferred option.
BRO?? YOU JUST BYPASSED THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Show how you put the pan on with the drain attached and then seal it. You just skipped to it being in. AND IF you DON'T put mortar under the pan it will crackle when you step on it if you're big. WTF. WASTE.
The part about installing the drain after the pan is installed when one has a concrete floor was very helpful. Thanks!
Very good video Sr. but missing the part to remove the old tub!
Anyways thanks so much for your effort!
Great job! You went in details on the part that nobody showed in my research so far.
Put it in wet mortar and it won’t squeak or have hollow spots
I appreciate your video sir! I liked the close ups and trial & errors because I’m sure I’ll run into similar issues. You were very thorough :)

The rubber gasket should have a flat side for the top and a beveled side that goes on the bottom. It appears to be upside down
Yes,....you are right . ..
That is why he puted the extra silicone at the end to fill that gap. ...with the flat part of the rubber up, as you say, that would have a niccer, tightter finish.
And that is why was harder for him to push the rubber down, because he putted bigger part first.
You're very polite and gentlemen ,like any other japanese.

Great job!!! Thanks for sharing your expertise and knowledge. This will help me out when I do my installation 👏👏👏
You installed the rubber gasket upside down beveled side down
very nice installation. The tilers lied to me that you couldn't just replace the shower pan.
This was great man, its the exact replacement i need to do. Thanks for taking the time. Subscribing.
Great video. I appreciate how you show detail
And how sometimes we have to make adjustments. Thanks you.
Perfec t as i have a concrete floor to .. Thanx for the great video.
Great video, very detailed and very informative. I understand now some things that i couldnt figure out. Thank you so much!!!
Great video. Thanks for recording it!
Well presented I am learning from your work of teaching. God bless you forever

Yes thank you very much you’re the only video showing in detail how to
Great job! You're very handy.
Thank you sir for that nice video I learn a lot from it and please never mind the negative comments your doing just fine I’m fallowing you for sure
great video showing all details needed to install shower pan
Thanks for making video, I'm about to do my bathroom and I'm collecting info from various videos.
Nice, i like the idea of the silicone around theead seal will last longer and not be exposed to water . Awesome.
Never use shims as this will cause the tray to crack overtime. Bed down the tray using mortar and this will ensure the whole tray is supported properly.
Thank you for making this!
Excellent video thank you for sharing
Great job!! Bom Trabalho ,aprendi muito . Thank you .
Very nice sir Great job.
Great job man.
Very nice install!!
word of advice for the DIYers out there. You should put a layer of cement under the pan about a half inch thick or so to really anchor this pan.
A job well done!
Is that a mobile home shower pan? 27x 54? No reinforcement under the pan? The underside looked pretty supportive.
How did u connect to the old drain ?
Great work Sir you are very detail oriented! Thanks for sharing.
great video , but my question why not use of plumber's putty instead of silicone
Very nice 👍🏻
Why didn't you put mortar under the pan to hold it in place?
Nice install for sure
You should have used ABS glue, not PVC glue, they are different for the different type of pipe.
Why would you not use PVC glue? That pipe he is replacing it with is not steel. It's PVC.
@@alvinrodriguez580 It's not PVC, its ABS plastic. It's different and requires different glue.
They sell a transition cement to glue black to white pipe also.
Yes you are right about ABS glue for abs piping..
He is using cement! Not the glue.go work stop hating
great video!
What are those "little things that fit over the edge" called? cant seem to find them. thanks in advance.
What are the fasteners called you used to fasten to the studs
I’m sure there’s probably tons of comments but I’m not gonna read through them. The first couple didn’t mention it but did anybody else see your problem right away PVC glue on ABS pipe. Nah bro. Had me fool that first day. This was a video somebody knew what’s up.
good job with leveling the floor
Great video. Can you replace my tub with a shower?
is that pvc glue for abs pipe?
where do you buy the shower pan and what size is
You should wrap any piping where it comes into contact with concrete. If you don’t, you risk breaking the pipe due to expansion and contraction.
It’s to keep the lime from eating it over time. The1-2in of foam wrap around the outside is so after concretes poured you can then pull that foam wrap and you have a bit of wiggle room to like the p if it’s not perfect like coming up thru walls if it’s out a bit you can push it back in the wall
👍 good job..
Can you use dish soap to get that rubber bushing in easier, seems stabbing at it with a flathead could tear it.
What are you going to do with the shims that you wedged underneath the shower pan?
That silicon on the castle nut is not only unnecessary but looks bad through the grates. At least use clear. But worse than that is, you didn't use a mortar bed. That pan will move and flex and eventually crack.
is your foundation under tension?
Good video helped me do mine
The shower pan I have says to put 1 to 2 inches of morter cement under it . The dude uses channel locks backwards.
HELP. question- black pipe came out of the shower pan. How could this happen? several plumbers say they would have to dig to fix
etc but none clear on why or how this happened so can you explain how n why this
happened?
I had no leaks, nothing looks broken or cracked, the edges of the pipe were smooth after I cleaned off I saw the black rubber ring just like the one you set in so wth happened
Merci!
Does the shower drain comes with everything, with the rubber or you buy stuff separately?
Yes, both gaskets, the drain cover and the key to tighten it
PVC solvent on ABS pipe? You should have used YELLOW ABS solvent. Fingers crossed it holds.
You need to also either use foam or silicone as a bed for your pan. For future reference…
And your floor you should have put cement underneath your shower pan it will stop the cracking in your shower pan another tip and you need ABS glue for abs piping baby shower is going to crack if you don't put loose cement....
I would be concerned that you didnt use abs bonding agent. (Cement) always make sure your materials match
I just ran into that problem between a 1 1/2 " pipe to a now "2 inch
11:51 thats not quite level. Not bashing, just observing. Likely out a quarter inch or less
Where's the links to parts 2, 3, &4?
👍
If that drain ever get plugged wont be fun to try to put an auger down …
Oh my
You should do that better. It's interesting how your cousin's give you positive comments. Anyway thanks for the video.
That's ABS though, not pvc..
Why put concrete in it
I think plumbers putty might have been a better option than the silicon?
Maybe, maybe not... I've seen elsewhere that silicon is more appropriate to use on the more flex-prone shower pans. Can't use plumber putty on acrylic.. I mean you could but it deteriorates it
Plumbers putty will dry out over time. You always want to use silicone on shower pans
@@taylorschulz6522 you are exactly right. Sadly, I know this from experience!
You didn't show how you moved the pipe to hit the hole
Yes he did at the very beginning
You are using your channel lock grips the wrong way
32.30
he's using the wrong screw that screw is for dry wall and not for secure shower pan
Something is missing.
BRO?? YOU JUST BYPASSED THE MOST IMPORTANT PART. Show how you put the pan on with the drain attached and then seal it. You just skipped to it being in. AND IF you DON'T put mortar under the pan it will crackle when you step on it if you're big. WTF. WASTE.
Wrong glue
Falto la goma
Old Profesional
wrong glue. and i'm an amature diy-er
Make your own pan…. Problem solved
what kind of job is that ? terrible finish
Gasket upside down
Beveled edge up.
ruclips.net/video/EeXHIP7_N4U/видео.html
channel locks backward
Backwards channel locks was definitely an inexperienced installer move. Plus no mortar under the pan. Fiberglass pans will get spongy.
Glad im not paying you by the hour!!!
This is an instructional video not a job site pal
This is painful to watch.
