Second try...this time hopefully not with a random outro clip in the middle of the video, lol....anyways what????
I was so confused, I was watching it when you took the video down
@@andyjoseph Watched the whole 1st upload to the end, tried to mention double outro and then wasn't able to post comment anymore. Got confused too xD
Just saw the video in my yt notifications, was so confused for a second before i saw you posted again 1 minute ago.
You can trim the video from yt studio
:P
Instead of removing the salmon from the hourglass you could turn it upside down and tell Beef it died because he didn't feed it. Loved the redstone explanation btw. :)
😂
Awesome!!! Dont forget to put him to the water surface too! 🤣🤣🤣
Love the idea
Yes
this is an absolutely hilarious idea
"Were out of wood. We are backlogged here"
You don't even know how funny you are sometimes
Doc, we need the Hive Mind to figure out a way to keep drip leaf in a fallen position for Bdubs
I'm thinking there is a way to do it with update suppression
@@MagiSwag that's what I was thinking 🤔🧐🤔
@@MagiSwagI've pored over the source code-to get it to hold state, you need to do two things:
1. Somehow cancel or suppress the "scheduled tick" that's queued when a dripleaf is triggered¹
2. Ensure that *no neighboring block ever provides redstone power*
¹This is why you can /setblock leaves hold their shape
@@OpenBagTwo i'm curious about this because isn't minecraft closed source, or is there a decomp available somewhere?
@@wileysneak Java is an interpreted language, so the source is always available, it's just usually obfuscated. But Mojang themselves publishes official de-obfuscators to make it easier for modders to do their thing.
15:30 Yes, Doc. Absolutely nobody would ever fall for a trapped chest, especially not skilled confident agile resilient players like the Hermits.
Scar who even knew it was a trapped chest and still fell for it.
@@MagyarAdam15 I wouldn't say that he fell for it. The lesson there's that sometimes it kills you even when you don't fall fkr it.
He knew the chest was trapped, he just didn't know that looking at a trapped chest through a spyglass will open the chest if it's within reach.
I like that this season doc is embracing building in the open instead of digging holes in a hole to put into
"Uh Oh, Time to Shwreep." Had me dying 😂 too funny.
Completely unexpected and now I want it. Haha
I love that Doc always links to these things.
27:34
Seeing Piglin randomly falling out of nether portals and plummet to the ground is a highlight of your episodes haha
I had been wondering about the spikes in the water earlier in the episode .. then their evil purpose was mentioned. Epic! 🙂
One Piston to rule them all, one Piston to find them.
One Piston to bring them all and in the darkness *mine them*
Yesss 🤣
In the land of Goatswamp, where the diamonds lie.
@@Shortnamesareoverrated For some reason there's a "Translate to English" button on your comment and it transforms your "Yesss" to "Yessss" (one more S). Translation not needed at all, but it did make me laugh.
55:10 Hearing doc say “beautiful” to paper work. I love it. That sounds like a responsible parent to me.
20:40 "When pigs fly" is an expression for things that will never happen, until Doc makes pigs fly ofcourse!
I feel like when doc explains Redstone, it's like a college professer lmao.
Doc, please continue making starter redstone contraptions that are smart and expandable up to hive mind level, because that is how true genius can grow.
Found really interesting not only the "how" you built the charcoal maker/shulker unloader, but expecially the "why" of the various components. It really shines a light on how one can develop such a machine.
I’ve watched Etho/bdubs/doc since the mindcrack days. Not since the redstone videos with generic b has something been so easy to understand! Great work doc.
This is how engineers think. I think it is a much better way to teach complex machines rather than a block by block tutorial, because you don't understand the reasoning behind why things are placed the way they are.
I like your comment... WHY do you feel that way??
I agree. Really loved the way you explained red stone
I think for the redstone block datapack, it makes sense. Instead, you could be warned irl that the server is gonna restart, log in, and turn off a bunch of farms and fancy redstones. It's more of a comfort feature than a cheating feature IMO
Yeah, for me, server restarts are not "intended" or a "feature" you have to work around, but more something you do to fix some bugs / improve server performance. If server performance wouldn't go to shit if the server is running for too long, it wouldn't be needed.
But if Doc likes the challenge of working around server restarts, and doesn't mind either logging in before each scheduled server restart or occasionally fixing stuff that broke during a server restart, that is obviously totally fine.
@@scratchfisch6425yeah I really like that explanation, the feature isn't built into the base game, but neither is the feature causing the issue in the first place, so it's not particularly cheaty
On the whole Mojang being lazy topic. I would say that the reason that Minecraft is as great as it is, is because Mojang are constantly updating the game creating more and more content. Most games die because they get discontinued, Mojang deserves it’s flowers for this.
It's interesting seeing the comparative evolution of the redstone storage systems by Etho & Doc and their application of efficiency. Etho's version of efficient involves subtlety and lack of complexity. Doc's version sacrificed subtle to a Swamp Elder God, visually comes with a metal soundtrack, and maximizes efficiency through integrated automation!
getting a strange sense of deja vu, no idea why
lol
Not me..
Doc being disturbed by the falling pigs while explaining the furnace would be a great horn (25:30)
"oh paperwork, beautiful" the most german quote
18:28 You are not moving up in the world. Your new base of operation has now a lower elevation than before.
In my opinion, Xisuma's server restart block isn't "cheating", because if you were playing singleplayer, you wouldn't need to deal with it anyways, so having something automated to deal with it makes sense, to make it almost the same as singleplayer.
Yeah arguably keeping your chunks loaded when you aren’t present of afk’ing or auto clickers are all cheating more than that useful utility.
@@LukeCunningham while i agree its not that cheaty, those things are hundreds of times less cheaty. They are completely vanilla, intented and capable features. No additions, gltches, exploits, etc. Not auto-clickers tho.
Pigs falling and phantoms circling, I can't wait to see what the fan artists do with this. 🤣
"We don't like to do anything," is the misheard quote gift that keeps on giving. 😂
We don't like to do editing
Two doc videos on one day, more then I expected :D
Just starting to learn about redstone? Let me just explain how EVERY COMPONENT works in the most basic way possible!
This explanation is golden! ❤
Maybe when the fireworks are happening, at the finale. The big salmon in the hour glass could explode.
PLEASE make the hermits dig sand for the opening. Maybe offer an amazing prize for the hermit who brings the most sand to the opening. Nobody knows how much everyone else is bringing so you have to go big to win!
Or build a mini-game where hermits have to dig sand - example: fill 2 large holes with sand, have hermits race to see who can mine it all the fastest. As they go down, it can trigger redstone to fire off traps etc 😅
I enjoyed hearing the thought process behind designing redstone more than the full tutorial - now I know how doors, rails, and note blocks are good choices for signaling observers and when I would choose them
You should make a loan to Cub, he's spending tones of diamonds making hermit fireworks, and he needs stacks of blocks for that. But once the investment is made, he can sell them for more diamonds that it costs to make them. Or maybe rent out your tunnel bore if you trust him
Who has seen the other wrongly edited episode lmao
NOBODY!!!!
What wrongly edited episode?
(I know what you are talking about but) anyways, what?
huh? what other episode? what's going on? dunno what you're talking about /j

I really like listenig you talk about redstone. The way you talk not only makes it easy to understand but also is very intresting and entertaining.
I figured the first one was just a prank: “you thought it would only be 30 mins, try over an hour!!! Bwahahaha!
The redstone tutorial was AMAZING! even doing something simple like the charcoal loop but getting the in depth explanation for the various redstone components was excellent! More of that FOR SURE!
I actually understand how that charcoal maker works! It's a miracle! You're good at explaining redstone Doc!
It actually worked on the first attempt, too. Must be the premium deepslate diamond ore building blocks.
If you use any other block, it doesn't work
You should pay a visit to tangos factory... and maybe invite him over for an exchange of technology.
I second this
The theme of a hypothetical space ship is FIRE 🔥 Just image a space goat that came to Earth to conquer it!!
Really dig the time you spent explaining the charcoal farm. Not many redstoners take the time to reason through a simple build. Probably one of the best natural redstone 101 builds I've seen in many years.
For the special opening sale, instead of "50% Off!" you should have a sign saying "50% On!"
Alternate title if this was pg-13: getting redstoned with doc
Or “Doc: The Redstoner”
Wait, you can't make jokes about getting stoned in kids content? What is this world coming to.

What I learned today: doc gives hints to himself where to cut by counting :P (And some redstone)
You guys shpuld be just fine with the Poe Poe... Skizz IS a Poe Poe so if hes slacking he would have to punish himself... im sure he would just cut himself some slack... xD
Redstone with Bdubs has that little 2-frame animated intro and background music, so he's got you beat by a bit. Keep working at it and you'll become as good a redstoner as he is!
Doc, thank you for your "Redstone with Doc" segment. I really like that smart shulker unloader + smelter + sorter system you made there all in one. This is one thing I really need for my redstone farms in the future.
Great video as always, you never cease to amaze me with your powerful redstone genius.
18:56
We know what you did
You can not hide
Anyways... what?
You could invite Scar with his Sand permit to make a little stand in front of the hourglass for the time of the event
How often do you find random bodies under a thin layer of dirt that the essence of this experience got condensed into casual bits of anecdotal wisdom that you dispense without a thought of how bizarre is the situation you describe? I imagine you have your personal contact person with all the mafia families around your town that call you up each time you dig up a wrong body and let you know that they still know where you live - and that they will drop by next weekend for a grill. I live in rural Poland and even I don't find discarded bodies so often that I get to make light of it. That's rough man. Also, thanks for the vid.
every shulker of log you put in the machine produce 7/8 shulker of charcoal because you need coal to keep it running so essentially the shulkers will get backed out and you could use those for putting shulkers automatically in the tree farm
Redstone with Doc and Jumpscares with Piglins, two of my favorite series!
lol Doc just destroying his excess shulker boxes while other hermits have to spend their precious diamonds on them😂
"The shop is about to be a success, eventually." lmao!
I’m not a quick artist, but those that do Doc’s thumbnails, you all should do the one for next episode with Doc looking like a nerdy teacher; glasses, pocket protector, lab coat (of course), etc, and have him teaching a class of small children-like hermits, redstone.❤❤❤❤ I would kill to see that image.
Just some chibi hermits ideas:
I could see Scar playing with toy animals, Pearl taking notes and trying to soak it all up (like the sun lol), stress trying to tame a stray cat, etho and tango using small redstone pieces to make machines to fling spitballs at each other, gem staring at the class’ fish tank, grian trying to fish in the fish tank, Cleo playing with one of those wooden art doll figurines (like an armor stand), mumbo playing with a ball on a string (like his base), Joel writing love notes (to his wife obviously) in Japanese kanji, skizz playing with a pyramid puzzle, ren trying to communicate to gigacorp, Iskall burning mini diorite blocks, false’s backpack leaking water, cub drawing fireworks on paper, wels playing with lego bricks making a castle, beef resting with his feet on his desk and a wheat piece hanging out his mouth and a farmer straw hat drooped over his eyes
Im sure there is more I’m just drawing a blank 😅
18:15 - that actually a good idea... you should style it to look something like the ba-sing-se drill from Avatar the Last Airbender
Like an unstoppable feat of engineering that farms the landscape for resources, then neatly and efficiently stores it within.
THE DRILL PROVIDES! ALL BOW BEFORE THE GREAT DRILL!
Someone needs to make fan art of doc getting jumpscared by falling pigling
I just realised why Doc needs all those pistons...
He's making none other than a void perimeter...
This man is INSANE.
(i could be wrong, and it could just be for a flat y=-64 bedrock layer perimeter, but it must be one of these 2 things...)
"That's just a theory. A GAME theory."
1:01:21 skizz really gonna have to give himself a fine at this point.
OPENING SALE!!! 50% ON!! ALL PURCHASES!!!
I love the casual “as you know, I don’t like to do anything”. These quotes just keep coming back!
That redstone explaination was top notch doc
At Hermitcraft University,
- Cleo teaches RED130: Practical Redstone for Non-Majors
- BDbubs teaches RED140: Fundamentals in Technical Minecraft
- Tango teaches RED270: Computation Redstone
- Doc teaches RED365: Quantum (Minecraft) Mechanics II
Doc please make a flying machine x wing and make a trench run on scars Death Star! Never forget the tunnel bore …. And the whole “we covered up your beautiful perimeter”!!
Doc has so many logs he's literally burning them!
Love the random zomberd piglin jumpscares XD
I like how everyone in comparison to doc has done little to nothing. Doc has already made some of the most insane farms and the largest shop on the server. It makes you wonder when doc sleeps.😂
Don't know about that, Joe has razed entire mountain ranges and Tango has a factory that automates making all the redstone components from source materials.
Grian fished a mending book.
55:08 "Ah, paperwork! Beautiful!"
Only a german could manage to sound genuinely pleased at the idea of paperwork 😆
I saw that Phantom resource pack and I'm so happy Doc used it, I was crying from laughing so hard when I saw that, it's perfect and makes me actually want to see Phantoms
Thank you for taking the time to explain the Redstone. I enjoyed seeing the process and am excited to take that and apply what you showed in some of my builds!
I just want you to know. My 2 year son Peter loves your intro music. Every time we watch an episode he dances and pounds his chest when your music starts.
Really loved the segment of you trying to teach the redstone for making charcoal , highly appreciated that
The storage system looks so much like a massive aircraft carrier, I find it unbelievably cool
Doc is the real hermit, out here by himself playing a completely different game than the others
The Mothership is looking good doc!
Those piglin scares were hilarious!
I have three ships in mind: 1. Battlestar Galactica, 2. Battleship Yamato, and 3. the first ships from Star Wars a new Hope. OK not the first one, but THAT one.
LOVED the tutorial. This one also helped explain all those doors I keep seeing in the bigger builds.
If cub puts trails at one diamond to three diamonds per firework, cub gave you such a deep discount. Most fireworks components are cheap but the trails affect costs a diamond for each color set it’s applied to. If he wasn’t making money hand over fist with the horns, he couldn’t afford to enjoy his fireworks so much.
I like the idea of the ribbon-cutting being a tripwire that starts the firework. Of course, breaking the top of a wall in front of the shop could do it too.
Everyone thinks you’ve moved your operation to above ground. I was listening; you’re just saving the below, ground stuff and the flying destruction machines for later.
I love the tutorial episodes. This was great, showing all about how to do different things and the theory behind them.
I remember when you did a tutorial episode on making an iron farm. I'd love to see more of those.
I know the discussion is done but I do have an opinion I'd like to share.
From what I understand about Mojang and their projects, they're focus is not specifically centered on Minecraft proper, java or bedrock. Not that I think thats a bad thing but if we understand that Minecraft Dungeons and Legends were announced in 2018 and released 2020 and 2023 respectfully, (with help from another studio) we can see that much of their dev forces' time is spent else where.
I don't think Mojang's "laziness" has ever been a problem, just their focus. I often feel that updates exist solely for marketing purposes and not necessarily to make improvements on the game. I'm also not one to cry for lack of content, I think the game is already amazing. I just want to receive the updates and features that they bothered to show, or else dont show them at all.
The explanations for building redstone logic are AMAZING, I think I've learned more about redstone and the ACTUAL LOGIC of it in those 20-30 minutes than in several years of watching redstone guides and tutorials for stuff. Please continue this, it's incredibly entertaining AND motivating.
A few episodes ago a comment said doc is the only person who can make them understand redstone. And this episode truly proves that is a common experience cause anyone else I wouldn’t have understood a THING. Doc has an incredible way of explaining things that even my redstone knowledge lacking brain can still understand it.
Doc's storage system is almost as good as Etho's.
"Noone falls for a trapped chest." Scar: Hold my beer...
Glad to see Doc learning from Bdubs for the charcoal maker ;)
Great content Doc. Keep it up.
would love to see an art of the piglin dive bombing during the redstone segment 😆
FYI Doc tweekaroo has a fakesneakplace and shiftclick place which helps when standing on scaffolding.
Its so funny to me how complex redstone machines these days look like someone marked out a box area and just randomized each block in that area and suddenly its a autorefilling charcoal smelter and shulker unloader.
I don't think the server restart block is "cheating" as such. In an ideal world the server would never need to restart, and any fault in the redstone would be purely down to the redstone itself, but due to factors outside the game like server restarts your contraptions may break. Think how annoying it would be to try and debug a bit of code that only messes up randomly and nothing in the code you write count account for that, it feels like the same thing to me. I think the server restart block is a great idea since it allows you to account for that issue and it brings back the "illuision" of your redstone running in a perfect world.
But on the other hand, y'know, "death of the author" and player freedom and all that, if using it doesn't feel right to you that's also entirely fair. It's up to everyone to play the game in the way that's most fun for them!
I really wish Minecraft had different coloured lamps. The Redstone and farms look so cool at night time but if it had red, blue, purple and green lights scattered around the floating portions of the base that would look really cool (SIPSCO factory style).
I also actually really like the Deepslate Diamond Ore everywhere, blue is such a rare colour to see in bases. Also from a distance it looks like it has a lot of detail even though it's just one block. It all melds together as well, so it adds a rustic look to the hyper precise redstoning that it's a part of.
Thank you for the Redstone guides, Doc! This was extremely informative and easy to understand.
Hey Doc, I love your crazy redstone contraptions!
A minor improvement to your charcoal maker at 44:53, you could put 4 non-fuel items in 4 of the slots for each of the furnace-fueling hoppers to reduce the amount of buffer charcoal that you need since hoppers can't push non-fuel items into the fuel slot of a furnace 😎
Fun facts- I started watching modded Minecraft with Yogscast, then needed more modded and stumbled upon Gennyb and Bdubs doing Mindcrack. It was there I saw Etho for the first time and then you Doc. Gotta admit when I saw your earlier vids it may have been voice inflection or audio setup that put me off a bit.
Soo happy to have been following Hermitcraft since then. There have been some “slow” seasons but now it’s been blast off! I really have enjoyed the game breaking mechanics the hive mind has put together along with the lore of the G.O.A.T. Since those humble introductions to a few I now subscribe to nearly all the Hermits. Great community(s)!
I love Redstone Masterclass with Doc! you're very good at making compact redstone make sense.
To me, the storage system and furnace array looked like a floating diamond aircraft carrier
As for whether or not to count your favorite redstone building block as wealth, I'd say it would count they way businesses and other organizations count assets; if you could liquidate it it would be wealth, and adds the same way property value would add, but as it is not something spendable it would not count in finances. So it would matter as to whether or not you are talking spending money or total value. If totals yeah, you got everyone beat hands down in wealth, if your talking about your wallet, I think Cub may have you beat at the moment.
Doc's new movie is out, let me grab some popcorn and order a pizzaaz....😃😃
Doc using diamond ore for his Redstone scaffolding is a self limiter to prevent him from breaking the HermitCraft economy 😂
I'm surprised by how much I like redstoning with Doc :)
2 Doc videos in one day. Love it!
The "discount" sign, instead of saying "50% off", it should say "50% on"
I imagine Doc at the grand opening will completely buy out the stock of skizz and beef.
Doc constantly being interrupted by pigs was hilarious lmao
You could call the opening "the premium sale!" Where everything sells at a premium!
Lol Doc, when that piglin dropped down on you @25:30, I nearly died laughing at you trying to keep your composure despite having just been jump scared! It reminded me of a reporter struggling to keep composure since they know the cameras are rolling but they really want to just freak out. Great job holding it together! Also, I really really appreciated the redstone lesson, it was super useful and well planned for us non-redstoners to understand!
