If you're finding this video much later than it was originally posted, the codes on Arena have definitely changed. The article I originally mentioned is not relevant any longer, do some digging to find the most recent set of codes.
I wish you could turn mythic wildcards into rare wildcards. Rares eat the most wildcards after all, and mythics tend to be more kooky than efficient. I would prefer the ability to squeeze 2 rares out I of a mythic, but I think that's far too optimistic a feature from wotc. 😅
I didn't like the 1000 gold per pack for like 8 cards when it should have been maybe 500 gold Now converting WCs is what I wanted 1 MWC = 3 RWC 1 RWC = 6 UWC 1 UWC = 9 CWC
I feel like wotc are probably thinking that'd be waaaaaaay to generous. The rare starvation feels very intentional, but I also haven't played arena in years
Good advice for new players. On ranked play, you don't have to "achieve" bronze rank. All you have to do is play one game in ranked each season, win or lose, and you will be ranked at least bronze for that season. So, everyone should play (win or lose) at least 1 ranked game per season to get a free pack (you could just start a game and auto concede). Also, for players that choose not to draft, don't let that free premier draft token from the MP go to waste, but be sly about how you use it and when you play your games. Each set usually spans 3 ranked seasons (calendar months), so the premier draft you enter with your token can span those three months as well as long as you don't complete the event. You play at least 3 games, so you can spread those games out by playing 1 game in each of the months the set spans and get limited ranked in 3 seasons with a single token, so you get 3 free packs rather than 1. For example, MKM started in Feb, so you could start a MKM premier draft in Feb, play just one game and get ranked for Feb. Then play one game in March and get ranked for March. Then play one game in April (before the new set drops) and get ranked for April. If you're going to be totally F2P, you really have to quick draft. I did this for a long time and never had any trouble earning my gems for the MP each set (+ a bunch extra) and I am ~ 47% win rate (rare drafting) player on average in Qdraft. I just don't care for the time pressure and results-matter stress of quick drafting to earn my MP each set. I was sitting on a stash of 9000+ gems when golden packs were introduced and I switched to no-draft mode. On set completion, I'm getting pretty similar results as I was with quick drafting, but now I'm spending down my gems. When the time comes, I think I'll be fine spending money on gems to buy the MP for each set. If not, I'll go back to quick drafting. One note on production... @8:00 that slow background zoom was making me nauseous. Anyone else?
@@DogginsFroggins Me too. I stopped drafting around MOM. I had a surplus of gems at that time and am just spending them down to buy the MP each set and buying 90 packs. Eventually, I'll have to buy gems to keep this up, but I think it works out to
As someone who has thought about playing either mtg:a or hearthstone, I feel like there's more variety in decks with mtg:a. Im someone who would only play free so this is very helpful.
Magic is the only card game that’s ever really interested me. Something about the art on the cards really sparks my imagination. The way the cards interact and how the game is played is really cool.
I play lots of different TCG but the thing that gripes me the most with MTG is the fact that you can cast stuff not during your turn with instant spells Like Id be building a razzle dazzler just for it to be returned into my hand like bruh, we were both low on hp too so I lost because of that
I've been playing since the beta release and now the most fun I have is with Brawl. It takes a long time to build a collection but you'll only need one copy of each and once you get the staples, it takes less to make new decks. I used to try standard but there's just not diversity in what you go up against anymore. I do agree that limited is still the only way to keep renewing the season pass.
Something worth noting. Bo1 constructed events aren't a bad way to convert gold into gems. I'm someone who loves drafting (but I'm only average at it). So running constructed events every time I hit 2.5k gold allowed me to draft more frequently with a lower win rate. Additionally, you can also get packs from constructed events which will allow you to win more consistently thus converting more gems to gold, aka, more drafts, lol. Mono red is a good way to get your feet wet in these events. Then you can slowly upgrade to something better like the humans deck or some Ux control deck.
Free to play life is pretty hard, u can take from 4-5 months to gather enough wildcards in order to build a tier 1- tier 2 deck in a format. Playing regularly.
Im a new MTG paper player and went to see the arena, im from yugioh also, so i have master duel as a base, what i found out: Yes Yugioh doesnt have free packs from real boosters, BUT master duel is pretty much entirely free to play. Arena on the other hand brings too much grind for little reward. When you first log in and complete master duels's quests, you can literally make a tier 1 deck zero grind. When you first log and complete arena's quests you have a very bad and noob deck with few card types and will mostly play very long games (10 turns +) Mtg as a whole is an expensive tcg, but i have to say this: its the best tcg, not much bully decks, not much extra long games, very balanced over all
It would be great if they brought the MTGO mechanic where you can enter a draft with 3 packs. I would love to play a prerelease and get 2 drafts in with my code on arena or a free draft with the set code each set.
Still wish I could trade cards in my trading card game (obviously not with other players to prevent scams but something to do with cards I don’t want like hearthstone dusting)
Buying packs is only good for the newest set, because only the newest set counts towards golden pack progression. Jump In! is good until you start getting playsets (4 copies) or rare cards. Packs have duplicate protection, Jump In! does not. Premier Drafts give you better rewards than Quick Drafts, at least as long as you manage to get 3 wins; Premier Drafts give you almost nothing for less than 3 wins. Also Quick Drafts (ironically) give you more time deciding which card to pick.
returning player, did all the color challenge and got into ranked. i haven't made a deck yet just playing the saddle up starter deck and its done amazing for me. I want to build a deck for the new season to start my grind on rank ladder... i have 13 rare, 8 mythic, 12k Gold and 6k Gems. show me the way brother lmao. what do you recommend?
I haven’t spent any money on Arena since 2019. I currently have something like 300 unopened packs and around 600,000 gold. That’s not because I’m a really good player, that’s just because I play quite often. And with the 50% forced win/lose ratio, I’ve realized that the easiest way to both rank up and earn wild cards and that stuff is due. Just play a lot of games. Play aggro mostly, those games may last only about six or seven turns. You could have a aggro deck that only has about a 51% wine ratio, outperform a blue white control that has a 80% win ratio, but takes 30 minutes per game. I don’t waste my time on games that I’m obviously meant to lose. You can tell if you’re gonna win or lose a game usually within the first three turns.
Only play quick-draft if you think it's fun, otherwise it's a waste of time. It's a game after all not a job. If you play a mode you don't like you may get tire of it and drop the game.
Hey people I am currently new to the app and for some reason none of the events are there for me my friend has a lot of event but I don’t have any not only that I can’t play the brawl game mode when I have decks for it. So I’m not sure what’s wrong does anyone know a fix?
Used to be, you could trade your unwanted cards to someone for cards that you wanted. In digital format, they locked out this standard feature of the game due to greed and a total unwillingness to give their player base any compelling reason to continue playing.

6:35 gold, silver, and bronze give you 2 bars per win and take away 1 per loss. after plat, its only 1 bar per win. so everyone should be able to hit platinum at least each season with a deck that wins less than half of the time.
