- I had the perfect opportunity to surprise my mom with a dreamy bedroom makeover. She has been away for some months now, so I totally re-did this small bedroom into a cozy vintage inspired retreat 🛌 In this video, I'll show you how to install DIY gallery rails for under $100 and add how to do a simple window sill to elevate the look of a boring window. In Pt2 you will be 🔅AMAZED🔅 at the transformation of this small bedroom and you will get to see her reaction. (she had NO IDEA!!)

Done together with a shiplap wall, they add a sophisticated charm and gives you a place to display thrift finds and decorate to your hearts content❤️
With under $100, I DIY’ed gallery rails using wooden chess pieces!! With some precision drilled holes, I added 1/4' dowels I already had on hand and made it look like brass with some rub n buff. That little window needed some love as well, so a simple DIY window sill did the trick!😉

Using the chess pieces was just genius. I'm so robbing that idea if ever I do something similar. Love it. The sprayer is amazing. The room is looking great so far and I'm sure your mom will absolutely be delighted. I used to love doing that when mom was away for a few days. She'd come back to a whole "new" bedroom and I loved seeing her reaction. Ah I miss her dreadfully even though she's gone now 17 years. To this day I'll hear something funny or a beautiful song and I think "must share that with mam" only to remember that I can't any more. Ah sorry for getting all lonesome. You're doing a great job.

Chess pieces - brilliant!! BUT use mild steel or aluminium tubing instead of the wood for rails as they won’t sag like the wood will and aren’t much more cost wise. Turned out great!
