My question lies not in the height of Wario, but rather in the wind resistance calculation. Exactly which formula did you end up using? Did you use 1/2rhoAcd, did you use 1/2rhoAcdv^2, or did you just use his drag coefficient? Please respond, I'm just a bit curious :D

I'm going to be honest. Once he said that Wario is 10ft tall I didn't watch another game theory for over a year.
I think it's pretty clear the devs don't intend the characters actually be that tall. Isn't it easier to go by Pokemon height rather than numbers you have to calculate based on hypothesis?The average height of a Lucario is 3'11"... So...Wario weighs 308 lb, or 140 kg, and has a height of 10', or 3.04 m. That's a gross overestimation considering the following:
1. Using Peach's height of under 6', you calculated in the Sonic episode that Mario is 4'8", not 9'. I understand you may have roughly doubled the height to get Super Mario's real height as opposed to "Unsuper" Mario, but if Wario was actually 10' tall, that means he would literally dwarf Peach...but Peach is actually slightly taller than Wario, not just in SSBB (which is known to be inaccurate in terms of scale) but also in the Mario Party games AND in your height chart.
2. The height of your average door is between 6'-8'. Ceilings commonly have a height of around 8', 9' and occasionally 10'. If Wario was really 10' tall, he would either have his head down constantly while he's standing indoors, leading to serious neck problems, or be crouching all the time, to whatever small degree is necessary.
3. How realistic is it that a man ten feet tall weighs 308 lb? Well, unfortunately, I couldn't find a height-weight chart that accounted for the possibility of a man being ten feet tall, so I opted for another solution. Height-weight charts list people as being underweight, overweight or neither based on their body mass index, or BMI for short. The way to calculate the BMI is simple: the mass of a person in kilograms divided by the square of his or her height in metres. That gives Wario a BMI of about 15. Medically speaking, a person is considered to have a healthy weight if the BMI is between 18.5 and 25--that means Wario is actually UNDERWEIGHT. But can you really believe that someone so pudgy is underweight?
BUT, if his calculations were true (idk if they were true) then that means the notorious Nintendo characters are GIANTS.

If we assume Mario is in his mushroomed up size, which as he is not as wide as he is tall should be an okay assumption, then we have a plethora of games where mario and wario are about the same height. Better to compare characters in the same series in series games, like super mario 64 ds.

Just to clear some things up here, it's very unlikely Wario is ten feet tall. Unless the Mario games just don't care about logic, Wario would be a giant compared to other people. 7 feet is considered very tall already. So how tall are they? From looking in the game and comparing with a life sized Nintendo approved Mario statue, Mario is 5 feet, which seems right. So if that was true, Luigi would be about 5'10, and Peach 6 feet or something. Of course, there's the fact that there's a Super Mario and a Small Mario. However, this only appears in some and not all Mario games, most likely to give Mario health. In Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and most Super Smash Bros. games, Mario is about the same size as Super Mario in Super Mario 3D World, which means Small Mario is even smaller than 5 feet. In that case, Mario when compared to in the games, Wario is the same height as Mario, which is 5 feet. It's possible wrong on this info, and I haven't even watched the video (this theory) in a while, but from logic Wario is not 10 feet tall.

Muscle adds to your weight as well, and both Mario and Luigi are physically strong enough to lift a massive fortress and throw it in SMW. Wario's strength and weight appear to be nearly equal to Donkey Kong who weighs 800lbs.

As other viewers have pointed out, and even if this video is pretty old already, the height for wario is way closer to 1.5 meters (sorry I simply can't calculate in feet) and that would actually make him as obese as he looks, muscular as he might be. Using that height and after doing the whole calculation myself, and hoping it's correct, the force needed for such a burst would be around 2430'61N, which isn't nearly the force needed for breaking bones, even if would be something around 5G.
Hopefully this comment was useful for someone. Then again, my calculations might be wrong, due to my usually horrible skills with complicated math.

Wario is 3 meters tall, ehm no. In your the bullet bill episode (it came out more than a year after this I know but the numbers are the same) you say that Mario stands at 4'6" or 1.39m, so that would put Wario at a height of 5'6" or 1.68m

and another thing that messes up the equation is that weight is not equal to mass weight changes depending on the gravity of the place your at in the universe mass is how much is in you the amount of matter you have in your body that never changes.

With this height calculation, Wario's density is 140 kg / 523.6 m^3, or 0.26738 kg / m^3 (Assuming Wario is a sphere). Air's density is 1.225 kg/m^3. Wario does not need a rocket to fly. MATPAT. This should have been a MAJOR RED FLAG. I expect more of you.
you really have to give the guy a break, video games are never consistent and the physics in the game are never that reliable, the calculation is as close as you will get in a world where you cant measure any of the variables accurately
Or maybe we are incorrectly assuming the air density and gravity are the same as Earth. If we reduced both, it could explain why they all jump so impossibly high and would aid to the math in gassing wario up for this game theory sans the bone shattering, sphincter tearing he of course does not experience in game.

Yes, but *shocker* since mass is measured using gravity (don't say that it isn't needed the force of gravity can change without changing mass) on scales balances ect. By taking the weight you can convert it to mass with ratios.

Then comparing it to the height chart shown in the video, he's just over the line, which I'll call at 5', ( the hat and hair on all of the characters factored in ), he's assembly around 5'5". Now, if we factor this generality around the rest of the Smash world, so if the block is 5/3rd of Wario's height, approximately 9'6" for the sake of argument, times 7 blocks, would bring him up approximately 65'4" ( 19.914 m ). Place that in y1 and v, the whole equation will change to 19.914m = -140kg/18.66 ln ( T -140kg*9.81 m/s^2) * -9.33 (19.914 m/s ) / T - 140 kg ( 9.81 m/s^2 ) ), supposing the wind resistance isn't changed relating to the height and velocity change, since he doesn't explain it specifically in the video. If someone can find out T ( motor thrust -> x Newtons of expelled force from said saggy, garlic-reeked, disgusting butt-flaps, we'll know the approximate height. This is just to make it seem more rational, I mean if Wario is 10', Captain Falcon is a bloody giant! I could be wrong, trust me, but if I'm right, the whole result changes! Math's not my strong suit, of course, I'm only in 10th grade. But perhaps our top game theorist got some sour data. No offence, MatPat, you rule, mate! You forgot to do mention Wario-Man's Waft. When Wario is in his Wario-Man form, his waft is nearly doubled, as well as quicker charge than his regular waft.

You got Wario's height from Mario's, you got Mario's height from Peach's.
Peach's height was 5' 10'' or 1.78m
At one point in this video you can see a height chart with both Peach and Wario visible. If I use Peach's height here, I can calculate Wario's height as being 5' 4'' or 1.63m nowhere close to your claims of 10' or 3m.
Perhaps when you have the choice of two characters to base a height off, you should choose the one that gives you a remotely right-sounding answer. For someone who puts so much thought into their theories I expected better of you.
Also, considering Wario is very visibly shorter than Peach, shouldn't you have seen something wrong when your calculated height came out as taller than hers?

In super smash bros, all characters change their original size to be more proportional to the rest (due to the difference in style ranging from realistic to cartoonish), the most extreme case is Olimar who in his own game is just a few centimeters tall,but in smash hes not the size of marios thumb,thatd be ridiculous,baasically this only applies to super smash bros, though it makes warios weight a bit inconsistent.

Funny. Running your equation through Wolfram Alpha, assuming this is typed correctly (pretty sure it is):
35.35=((-140)/(2*9.33))*ln((T-(140*9.81)-(9.33*35.35))/(T-(140*9.81)))
Wolfram Alpha (which is way better at this kind of math than I am) tells me T is (a big mess, until I tell it to approximate, then it tells me it's) 1706.2 N. Still quite respectable. Definitely not the 13kN you were talking about, though.
I'd also make the argument, given the scales of the various characters, that Mario is regular sized and not Super Mario in SSB - the 4.5ish feet height fits better with the 6 feet and change of Samus. (Perhaps he's dieted since Mario 1, or the physical effort of saving Peach (real or staged) so many times has reduced him to more Super-Mario-like proportions.)
In that case, the 2 height numbers are 17.625, which gives us a result of 1555.2 N.
Doesn't really fit the damage scale - DK's windup punch in Melee is probably at or near a boxer's best punch (probably a little more), which is about 1000 or so pounds of force; converting, that gives us ~4500N. This punch does a mere 30% damage. So 1500-1700N would be more along the lines of 10% damage. (Alternately, with your original value of 13 kN, that's more along the lines of 90-100% damage.)
But with these numbers, at least we're getting a fart that isn't completely body destroying. Unsurvivable, almost undoubtedly, but not likely to cause significant mutilation.
epic gallade Sorry. I recommend calling emergency medical services. I'm just challenging his math using an internet tool designed specifically to handle all the painful bits of math and make them easy. At the moment, I'm sufficiently out of practice that, realistically, I wouldn't be able to solve for T at all.
That, and the assumption that the Mario we play in SSB has already been embiggened by mushrooms to his godlike 9 foot height.
Doing the equation by hand with Mat's numbers I also got 1706.2N. It looks like something went quite wrong during his calculation.

Easy enough to do. Unless you're actually working through this kind of equation on a regular basis, the proper tricks that let you solve for T are kinda hard to keep track of. Personally, I like to compare my hand calculated results to wolfram alpha and make sure they agree before moving on - it's possible for me to make a mistake with my hand calculation and it's possible for me to make a mistake converting the equation to a typable format so I can run it through the computer, but for me to make a mistake in each that actually gives me the exact same _wrong_ number is very unlikely (the type of error from typing is usually an order of operations error, which has a very different result from the kind of error I'd make in a hand calculated attempt.) Might seem paranoid, but it depends on the application - the correctness of some of the calculations an engineer makes is what makes the difference between a successful project and a disaster that gets the workers killed - with that in mind, I take that extra step to be sure all the time. Better to be paranoid and keep people alive than make a stupid mistake that kills people.
In this case, though, I just let Wolfram Alpha do all the work. I won't be doing rocket science anytime soon (mining with rockets...now there's a thesis that'd get an audience for its dissertation), and MatPat, and later you, Phoenix, did the hand calculation side for me.
