I guess everything about the main story just falls under the umbrella of "gave me the answer," supernatural and possibly extraterrestrial stuff alike. Though I would've liked to see him figure out whether or not Ceruleon Skye is a human who lives on Mars or an outright alien.

With your only weapon being a powerful pressure washer, not lethal, but enough to push people away and keep yourself safe while scurrying away and scavenging for food and supplies as you wait for rescues

It's a great marketing tactic, I give you that, put some "deep dark lore" in a ridiculous simply game concept like PowerWashing and you have yourself a fanbase that will keep the game alive for as long as possible.

THEORY: people keep calling you multiple different names but you always show up. The player character that is. I think you have multiple front companies for a monopoly on the towns need for clean
If I remember correctly, the amount of names is because of the first person you text with. The first mission of the game is cleaning up the van you later use to start your cleaning company, bought by your friend (I think he happened to be at a car show?). As you clean the van, the messages he sends you focus on him giving you name ideas for the company you're about to start. It ends with him saying that he's going to spread the word for you. Thus, he keeps telling people different names for your company while giving them the exact same contact information.
I always thought he was getting wrong number calls and was just stealing company jobs letting them assume he was the person that they had initially been set up for the job for but he does the job and gets paid anyway
I live in Washington and I saw a huge amount of similarities between where this game takes place and the Mt. Saint Helen's eruption occurred. My theory is this takes place in 1980, just weeks to months prior to the eruption.
After watching the start of the powerwash pals and having mark not know this video that was dedicated to him even existed, mat being flushed down the toilet at the start feels very fitting
That's probably why the characters wear hazmat suits. If you play Co-Op you find out that you're both wearing a full body hazmat suit for just cleaning with water.
a Game theory Theory: Mat has become so enamoured in finding the lore to every single possible game that he's lost himself to his deepest darkest obsession, everything is deeper than it seems. But he just keeps searching. Every game must have something deeper than what on the surface. When will you stop, matpat? When will you just give up and accept the surface? Will you always be chained down to the lore of obscure games? Will you finally lose yourself?
Here’s the thing, your character might be forgiven for not knowing that volcanic ash requires special cleanup procedures. But you know who should know better? A volcanologist. Like, I dunno, Calvin Miller, the person who you have been in contact with since the beginning? His mother informs you of this in one of her texts.
Sounds like our character is a genius. Villainously toxifying the area knowing it's all going to be destroyed by the volcano soon which will completely cover his tracks and allow him to get away with it as everyone will associate any lingering health effects for the survivors on the big eruption rather than his sneaky cleaning methods. Makes the game even more fun, imo.
Now I'm imagining he has a grudge against everyone in this town cuz what other motive is there? There's better and safer ways to scam people outta their money.

I was desperately waiting for the dark twist in every video I watched on this. It was too perfect and pristine, despite the grime. I knew the GT episode was all but inevitable. Granted I thought we'd find a body under a grimy patio and discover that the entire town has been dead for decades with them communicating via our haunted phone to help us exact their will with the power washer to help them leave this plane of existence... I'm just glad to know I'm not *completely* crazy.
The Mc could be just as clueless as everyone else. Hell, I'm pretty sure 90% of us didn't even know there was a volcanic ash protocol. I sure as hell didn't.
Imagine if this game starts off as just a nice powerwash simulator but the more you progress it starts to turn into a horror game. When your in the park cleaning the playground you just hear strange noises every now and then, the screen slowly starts to get dimmer, when you turn around to see what's happening you notice a figure in the distance. Throughout each map you slowly go crazy and more insane as you powerwash your way through the town. I bet this is what Markiplier was hoping for

I live in Washington and I saw a huge amount of similarities between where this game takes place and the Mt. Saint Helen's eruption occurred. My theory is this takes place in 1980, just weeks to months prior to the eruption.

I was desperately waiting for the dark twist in every video I watched on this. It was too perfect and pristine, despite the grime. I knew the GT episode was all but inevitable.

Imagine if this game starts off as just a nice powerwash simulator but the more you progress it starts to turn into a horror game. When your in the park cleaning the playground you just hear strange noises every now and then, the screen slowly starts to get dimmer, when you turn around to see what's happening you notice a figure in the distance. Throughout each map you slowly go crazy and more insane as you powerwash your way through the town. I bet this is what Markiplier was hoping for
