      It is definitely true that the road less travelled can lead to amazing places that other Brits, much less foreigners know nothing about (and you don't have to pay). Since a young child my parents would take us exploring in woods and forests or find small places with hidden lakes, canals, ruins...there's a lot to see that many know nothing about. Liked the video.

    Hey guys. Hire a boat on the Norfolk Broads, preferably in the spring, not the height of summer when it is more crowded.
    Only a few hundred pounds for a boat on which you can all sleep, no experience needed, way easier than navigating canals, and you can moor up beside many of the pubs for your evening meal before moving off to moor overnight!
    The centre is Wroxham, which is about an hours drive from RAF Lakenheath, which I assume is near where you are. Google boat hire there.
    Enjoying your adventures. Glad you are managing the roundabouts and narrow roads. Although I have no problem driving on the right hand side in France etc I would not fancy the US much, due to the omission of an amber 'get ready' light at the traffic lights!

    • @DaydreamersBarn
      @DaydreamersBarn  7 месяцев назад +2

      That is a great recommendation for the Norfolk Broads. We will look into that soon if we can. Sounds like a blast. Also, we do use the amber 'get ready', but only on race tracks lol. But seriously, we could use them in normal traffic. We have come to enjoy them.

    I had two hedgehogs come through my cat flap last year to steal the cat biscuits. They have been in hibernation over the winter, no idea where, somewhere in the garden. They will be back soon. Nature is awakening from its slumber here in the UK. I like 'quaint' it is a lovely term and apt to the UK.

You were in good company as not only the King and Queen were in Sandringham but Prince William and Catherine were at their house on the Norfolk estate over half term. You should also try the beaches there from Hunstanton to Heacham and Wells - They are huge. Just watch the tides as they can sneak around the back of you on some of the beaches. As a kid I used to go Cockling along those beaches & take them back to Aunt Liz in Snetshum (Snettisham) for cooking then the whole family would have a big seafood feast of Cockles, Whelks & Winkles. Great Summers they were.

    Condescending is the word Quaint people say. I am not one of them. British here and I love that word. I am not sure of the exact word that would be used by us Brits in the US, maybe Fat or Wide or Gigantic in terms of cars, houses, streets, malls and so on. Cute is a good word for our Villages but to some that is to Condescending as well. You will always upset some people no matter what you say.

    6:50 sometimes you’ll approach a roundabout and it will seem like the exit you want is “past 12 o’clock” so you’ll take the right lane.
    But the sign (like the one at 6:38) might show the exit is at 12 o’clock so you should take the left lane.
    So just a heads up that the sign on approach tells you which lane to take - and not the actual position of the exist on the roundabout itself.

    • @DaydreamersBarn
      @DaydreamersBarn  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks, we didn't think about the 12 o'clock position before but that makes sense. We look for the lane indicator on the lanes or signs, but we will add that one as we continue to travel. Cheers, Chris and Jess.

    Another great day out. With the help of an excellent video, it was as if I were there. The deer were magnificent, unlike the non-native muntjac deer. If you ever visit any more petting zoos be very careful to sanitise your hands during and after. Several people, particularly children have had severe salmonella poisoning or E.coli transmitted from infected animals from their droppings. I would imagine that the farm had sanitising stations as that is not the publicity they want. On a lighter note, if you are driving in deer country at night, watch out for deer. They rarely have tail lights on. Very skilful and courteous driving.

    • @DaydreamersBarn
      @DaydreamersBarn  7 месяцев назад +1

      Even though it was a little chilly, we still washed our hands before and after. That is a great point though. The first YT channel I followed were also deployed here, and one of their teens was competing in US style cheerleading events around England - I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm sorry to tell you this but a lot of those animals may end up between two pieces of bread but they will taste good! Sorry!

      We understand that and appreciate it. They are well taken care of here and it helps us appreciate the meal we eat at the end of the day. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, Chris and Jess.
