    We are on our 4th visit in our narrowboat, which we have owned for 14 years. I am always delighted by the reaction of our American friends when they tackle narrowboating for the first time. I think our canal system is a great way to see the UK. As well as Llangollen (clangothlenn), you can moor in York, Birmingham, Gloucester, Bristol, Manchester and London, all accessed via the canal system.
    Just please remember to slow down past moored boats😊

    • @AndrewandMegan
      @AndrewandMegan  2 месяца назад +1

      Such a great way to see the UK and very unique for us Americans. The boats in Florida are much different! I think "slow down to one tick at moored boats" was maybe the only thing we retained from our quick lesson from the hire company 😆Happy boating to you! Cheers!

    So lovely to see you making this trip which I have just completed. The pontcysyllte was on my bucket list and I have now done it. Would I do it again? No! But if you don’t have a fear of edges and heights it is a must to do and I know some people whizz back and forth for a pastime. We did Grindley one way with no volunteers and then the return was hugely helped by their presence. It’s a most beautiful trip and if you’re lucky you’ll see kingfishers and herons. I don't want to pour water on your fire but my mate had a 52-footer (Boat🤫) and he lived on it all year around, the winters on a narrow boat can be brutal (I am sure you have heard) so if you are going to use your future boat in the cold, wrap up warm and keep a sharp axe.
    Having a great time, I see, not many get to live on one for any time at all, Take care and Happy boating.

      Thanks for the heads-up! We’ve definitely heard that winters on a narrowboat can be pretty brutal. If we ever brave the cold on a future boat, we’ll make sure to wrap up warm and have plenty of wood for the stove. It’s been such a great experience so far, and we really admire those, like your mate, who live on a boat year-round.

    Fantastic. I really enjoyed this. I live in the town next to the floating market. Solved my date query. I fish some of this area so spend time by the cut frequently aswell as walks. I thought you were handling the boat fantastically well( compared to some!). It's always interesting to here the many accents and languages of those who come to enjoy the Waterways. Well done on crossing the Fron aqueduct and reaching Llangollen. There is an area by road close to the canal where crossing the border is frequent, in an out of Wales. By the way the 'which' towns of Cheshire are Salt mining towns as the Cheshire plain is very low-lying and as such is a Salt plain. It gives the local Cheese its traditional flavour.
