The tones you are getting on the Runt 50 are Incredible. It really is a Complete package High end amp. I bought mine used a year ago after checking this very YT video among others. Your take is 100% spot on. I am so impressed I had Egnater mod me a 2nd Master for a ft/sw solo boost function. Easy mod and handy for that solo bumping up. Thanks again for this well done and true representation of Runt 50. Van Halen,Ratt,Savatage,etc...... for days on it.
Ya man turning the presence up puts that hair on the note . This is the best demo of the runt I have heard . I am sold man I need a smaller rig . My marshall stack is just such a pain in the ass to move
Dave Friedman always speaks really highly of this amp on his Tone Talk podcast. I run a buxom boost in front and that's all you need to get any hot rodded Marshall tone out of it.
Mesa Boogie were the first sort of Boutique amps. They're great. I used to be a Boogie guy too and I still own Mesa cabs. I own a Bogner head and I might be adding a Friedman to my collection in the near future. Nice Demo!!! Thanks for sharing this with us.
I have a 5150 iii 50 watt head. Moths ago I order the JJ Jr and ended up sending it back because there wasn’t enough saturation in my opinion and when you turned up the volume the low end disappeared. Maybe the EL84 tubes were the problem, I don’t know. How this Runt 50 compares to the EVH ?
Great video friend thankyou. I strongly disagree on your reverb point, I DO NOT WANT a reverb tank in there. The tone at 8.50 and at 10.10 is fantastic.
Sounds sick. I thought the Dirty Shirley was more vintage voiced but this thing kills it. The tube screamer sent it into super high distortion mode which you don't even really need but its nice to have.
I've got a hand-wired 50w Silver Jubilee. I'm tossing around the idea of getting one of these but I'm reading this amp to be essentially kinda like the jubilee but maybe with a better clean channel and more gain? Voicing sounds kinda similar and I don't dislike the Jubilee at all.. I'm certain if I got this, the Jubilee would be out the door before the tubes even fully warmed up but I don't know if it's worth over double what I paid for the jubilee. Hmm.....
Great and informative! How close to the jcm does the runt get in regard to tone? With the runt boost switch not engaged(right position) and the pres up does it sound like the jcm?
Wow...the gain structure, and articulation is stunning. But, is the amp that "trebly" (for lack of better words)....like it's missing a lot of bottom end. Or, is that something you have dialed in specifically for your style of music?
It’s reasonably controllable thankfully due to the master volume lol. It obviously shines when you crank it but you can still get great tones a room level.
WOW! Great playing. I still want one of these.

Hey man! This video made my day! Great tones and awesome playing! Cheers!
Thank you! 🤘

Awesome demo. Love the tones.
Thank you!!
Shredding it to pieces! Sick tone. Just picked one up, plugging into a bogner 212cb when it arrives!
Great playing and killer tone! What bridge and neck pickups are you using in the video?

This is my favorite tone of any guitar video I’ve ever watched. And I’ve watched thousands. Buying one right now. Thank you.

Julio Duarte i have an oversized Mesa 4x12 and just ordered one of these Runt 50’s, stoked.
Which do you dig more between the jcm 800 and the runt 50?
@jhemmy88, how does the runt compare to your jcm 800 and jj jr?

I’d probably call it more sounding like a plexi than a JCM. It’s likely a little brighter voicing.
Jhemy88 interesting, thanks man
Great vids!
What speakers in the cab? Thanks
what model Freidman cabinet is that ???
At 13.17 with your settings it sounds exactly like a Mesa Mark V with some twists
Im on the fence mesa V 35 watt or the runt 50
I bought amp because I prefer pedals in clean channel. However, this amp shines in Gain channel for me.

These things are so trebly i have to use mine with both treble and presence on zero and still boost the bottom end with an eq pedal in the loop !!!
@@fuegosatsuma868 Yeah….that seems to be consistent with these amps. I’ve decided to go in another direction for that reason.
Try Dave’s Buxom Boost pedal in front of the Runt 50 and your tone search will be over.👍🏼
Runt 50 or silver jubilee
Dont fear the treble and presence knobs..
Pull me under. 🤘 How is this head for room volume? Does it need an attenuator? Rock on!

holy flying sausages, you know where the frog has curls
Greetings aaaand
Rock on

I am also a , like my amps to have reverb person
Sounds like Prince
Reverb?? Really? That’s like complaining that the Maserati you just bought doesn’t have seat heaters! 🤦🏻♂️😂
Tomulator well a Maserati should definitely have seat warmers.
your right! no reverb no deal! boogie rules
