This video is fantastic Darren. I love this style a lot, so much info, very upbeat and lots of personality. I can tell it was a huge bucket of work to edit and finish up. Thanks so much for all of the time you put in. Great information and entertainment too. Have a great weekend hun. Hugs to you all as always 😊
Busy video, busy darren !😰 good lookin food fare...i would look like the "Pillsbury Dough Boy" in a month. What a way to go! Thankyou for sharing your World......🌏
I think I've become addicted to your channel. I've watched at least thirty of your vlogs by now. The one of you eating pork intestines was something else. From a fellow teacher -brilliant Darren.
Thanks for sharing which gave me plenty of good ideas. We will be there in August. I thought the food was pulsing at 2:00 until I realised it was the video.
Thanks a lot Martin,. Yes, I agree with you, there are some great markets in Samui. The night markets scene there is very cool. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Late but quality!! I feel night market at samui rather expensive, I prefer local market more. Thank you for sharing. Hope your family have a good trip. 😁
Yes, this video took a lot of time to make ... every spare moment I have had in the last 6 days. And yes, the local markets in Samui are definitely cheaper than the night markets. Thanks for watching :)
Hi Darren, Wow so much yummy street food in Koh Samui. I will there in August and I can’t wait to visit all the local markets and try out the food. Looks like there is no shortage of choice. Thank you for another fantastic video. A big thumbs up 👍 and cheerio from Perth Australia.
Darren you made my day. I watch your videos every time after you upload. Why did this time it took so long?? And I noticed you getting in good shape now
Glad I made your day! Video editing takes a long time unfortunately. This is why television shows and movies have a big budget and a team. I’m just one person making these videos and I also have to work, I have a family and I have lots other demands on my time. When I started editing this video I had more than 600 short video clips that I reviewed and/or edited to make this one longer video and that takes time. To make this video it took me every spare moment I have had in the last 6 days. I will start editing next week’s video tomorrow, hopefully the next one will be faster to make :)
Darren you're a legend! Watching your videos with my girlfriend almost every evening, Bringing memories from our ao nang trip and what a great time we had. All the best for you and your family mate. Kep up good work!
It all looked good. You should know by now I want to try all the seafood, except scallops, street food. Thoughts huge prawns would be 1st on my list... lol.... Thanks Darren, Chris
Darren, I feel you must have taken more than one day to film this video. This is absolutely great work to show case so many kind of foods in Koh Samui.
In Samui really nice night markets! Our favorit that on sundays in Lamai! Thanks for the video! We lived in this island for 2 months and it was incredible Shot a short video too )
Wow!,awesome street food... Where my moms from, she doesn't truest some of street vendor...she's very picky when it comes food.. I showed her this video and she said,,*** wow*** nice and clean vendor..
Great video Darren. I have noticed that your audio levels are all over the place in your video's lately. Have you changed some equipment? All the best to your wonderful family!
Thanks. Yes, I have got new equipment and I'm having some teething issues with it. I'm seeking professional help and will get the issues resolved soon. All the best to you too!
DARREN Brother awesome food as always mate!! I'd LOVE to see you finally try one of the long "Mantis Prawns" shown many times on your videos one is a tank full at 11:02 they apparently from other comments are delicious and taste like a prawn but BETTER, just like to see your take on it!!!
Thanks mate! It's getting closer .. I found the restaurant where I'll try them. We ate there on the way home from this trip on a mate's recommendation. He said, "it's the best seafood restaurant in the world", and having eaten there I can say that perhaps it is (video coming soon). Unfortunately it's 200 km from where we live, but they will do a mantis shrimp dish on order, if you give them 2 day's notice. Hopefully I will be getting into some mantis shrimp goodness soon!
darrenb3 ah cool, you lives in Krabi. my aunt live in Ao nang. next year i want to vist her with my girlfriend and Son ( 4 years old ) maybe we can meet us too and the lil boys can play together 555+
Thanks Jeff! Yes, I did find most of the street food to be more expensive than I usually pay where I live in Krabi, but Koh Samui is an island and generally most things are more expensive on islands everywhere around the world.
Observation: I could never operate a takiyaki stall with all the filling, turning, removing non-stop. I would have to do a more leisurely cutting of fruit or making juices/smoothies LOL... OR, maybe the already made curries/soups/stews I'd just have to serve? Maybe Grandmama or Mama cooked already? I'm having a VERY lazy day. Thanks for another great tour of food!!!
i highly recommend visiting koh phayam and maybe koh chang since it's only 30 minutes with the speedboat from there. visit por at the shadow house and bar for a cocktail when you are there!
Thanks for the tips, but I'm pretty sure Koh Phayam is off the west coast of Thailand. This video was filmed on Koh Samui, which is off the east coast.
Wow, what a great video, Darren! Those juices, though, are they 100% fruit with no extra sugar? Do you recall? One thing I noticed in Vietnam is that drinks were so heavily sugar packed. Cheers!
Sorry, I don't know how much sugar they had, but if you tell the vendor you do not want sugar added they are happy to make it that way. I hope that helps.
Hi Darren, greetings from the U.S. I have just finished watching your video and loving it, thank you! Can I have the name of the street food place? Also, wondering if you know of a good hotel that is walking distance to all the street foods that you can recommend? Alternatively, do you know of a travel agency that I can use? Many thanks in advance!

I'm half Thai and was born in Koh Samui, we also have a house there as well. I miss it so much since I can't go and been trying to get put there but it's a struggle.. Great video!
Expecting a lot about Samui.....a lot of bad food there...also on market.....I'm curious to see but of course it's low season there....you'll be lucky!
I don't think we had any "bad" food there, but we got very average food a few times :). As a general rule we found the closer we got to the touristy areas, the more average the food was. We did find quite a few great local restaurants with delicious food though. Nearly everything we got at the markets was also great.
Hi Darren, hope you and your family are well. Wondering how long it takes you to get to Koh Samui? Seems pretty close to Krabi. I assume you take a ferry? I think you're a bit of a closet snagaholic. Get your western food fix with tasty sausages. Notice your trusty photographer was in good form. Wonder how he gets all those close up happy snaps of locals. Trade secret no doubt. I envy you your choice with all that incredible Thai food at your doorstep.
Yes, we're all well thanks Doug, hope you're well too. Yes, Samui is relatively close to us - it's about a two and a half hour drive to the ferry pier at Don Sak and then about an hour and a half on the ferry. There's not much point trying to hide my Thai sausage addiction ... they're definitely one of my favourite Thai street foods! My trusty videographer was me this time. My friend who helps me sometimes has been back in Germany for a bit over a month... thankfully he has shared a few trade secrets with me ;). Those closeups are done with a long (200mm) lens. Yes, we are very blessed with the range of delicious food here!
I ate them once, but they were small ones from a supermarket and they had been frozen. They had virtually no taste. I spoke to a chef at a seafood restaurant recently and he said you need to get big ones and they must be extremely fresh (killed right before cooking) in order to get the best flavour. Thanks Jeff! Yes, I did find most of the street food to be more expensive than I usually pay where I live in Krabi, but Koh Samui is an island and generally most things are more expensive on islands everywhere around the world.
