- A Los Angeles fire captain on the scene of the helicopter crash that left Kobe Bryant and eight others dead testified Monday that the trauma of witnessing the remains of the accident pushed him to retire.
Testifying in Vanessa Bryant's lawsuit against Los Angeles County, in which she is alleging that first responders to the scene publicly shared gruesome photos of Kobe, their 13-year-old daughter Gianna and the other victims' bodies, former fire captain Brian Jordan said that the memory of the images still haunts him, and denied improperly sharing the photos.

"I don't remember being at the scene" yet he claims to remember all the details enough to be traumatized by them? Please can this judge call him out for his bs - contempt or something similar? He is only upset when he gets cornered with the questioning and can't talk his way out of it. He's trying to play the victim when he's anything but. He is just sick.

He did in fact say he didn't remember being there as an excuse to say he didn't remember taking pictures of it, yet that he remembers it clearly as well. He's trying to cover himself. It's incredibly inconsistent with actual trauma. Stop trying to give excuses for his inhumane behavior as a firefighter. He doesn't deserve pity when he was the one taking and sharing photos of dead children.

Well , you wouldn't make a very good first responder. Just think what they see and have to live with . To some they have seen so many mangled , burnt bodies. That they get numb to it . Others it bothers them more . Got a idea , how about the families take the first responders place . Then they wouldn't have to worry about pictures being shared .

My husband was killed in Afghanistan and i later found out was that soldiers viewed his body before he went to the Dovers coroner which is not allowed. That was awful. Glad she is bringing lite to this situation
The full autopsy reports for everyone from the crash are on Reddit. (reports only, no photos) There is absolutely no reason anyone outside the ME's office needs to see them. The reports are horrific enough. Glad Vanessa won her lawsuit.

they don’t need to be on there. one day in august i kept seeing kobe videos on my tiktok fyp and saw the autopsy report. eventually vanessa or her kids will see the reports..

you can see Kobe Laying on his Left side in a Foetus posistion with his legs strangely twisted from the hip down and arm gone and blood in front of him with (i think intestences)
But not real gruesome details like a close up .

And a picture of someones torn of leg at the initial crashpoint

Who cares? Dead bodies and blood and gore are easily found by a Google search anyway. People should see photos of dead people as it is a reminder that we are all fragile and need to stop living with rose colored glasses on.

Where was the firefighter's trauma trigger when he took the photos and shared them to the world, and his bar tender buddy. Absolutely cold hearted, and unacceptable conduct from a firefighter/paramedic! This person should lose their pension. Or at the very least have some liability for the actions he decided to take. It also really appears that he conveniently retired early when he had an incline that he would go to court for this.

Yea this firefighter dude is trying to avoid prosecution by playing the victim card. As a former first responder I can tell you that these types of crash scenes are not traumatizing at all. I've seen all kinds of dead people and if you take me back to any scene I ever responded to I don't feel any type of traumatizing experience. As long as the dead people you see are not family you're able to disconnect and do your job. This guy most likely retired for a different reason. He knew exactly what he was taking pictures of and firefighters are not required to take pictures on scene. He knows he committed a major patient privacy violation and should be liable for doing so.

Not everyone responds to traumatic events the same. My mom has been a nurse for nearly 50 years, and she says she has to detach herself from certain patients so she can do her job, but they are still people, she doesn't view them as just a body, or body parts, so I think that is harsh of you to say.

A aircraft crash scene with casualties will NEVER leave your memory, I was in the Air Force task to a “Mortuary Search and Recovery Team” it was one pilot in a brand new F-16 on a low level strafing run speed in excess of 800 MPH, a mere 8 lbs of bone/ flesh was recovered form a 160 lb man, needless to say I look at hamburger in the store a lot different than most.

I had to take continuing education classes in forensic odontology. Very graphic images of bodily trauma were shown. They included pictures of fiery plane crash victims, among others. It was horrifying. I cant imagine seeing this first hand at the scene. I completely understand why this first responder is so traumatized that he left the field.

I don’t think taking the photos was wrong. It’s part of his job. It helps them improve incase of future accidents & investigations. The wrong thing was sharing them at a bar like a conversation piece. That’s heartbreaking.
It was not necessary for him to take pictures of the deceased. That's what the medical examiner does, so this guy was totally out of line!!

@@nicolenembhard4204 Summer 2020 I was reading comments on a RUclips post about the crash. Some guy commented that he had the photos and offered to send them to your email. Tons of people replied with their email addresses wanting copies. Not sure how detailed the photos were (I didn’t request them) but it definitely begged the question of where he obtained them.
I think those deputies shared with a lot of folks and glad the jury sided with Vanessa and Chris…on 8/24 Mamba Day

Why were the other families not compensated as well. I understand that Kobe was rich and famous, however the other families hurt and I am sure were just as distraught. It was beautiful for Vanessa to donate her winnings to her family’s charity. I also think dividing the proceeds amongst the other families would have been very noble as well.

The way I understand it the sharing of these kinds of photos is commonplace in Southern California. She is using her celebrity to go to bat not only for the victims of this crash but also for all the others who are dishonored this way. Let’s hope that going forward police and first responders will have leadership that puts an end to this sort of behavior.
