@@archangel0137people like you are the reason why the 2nd Amendment exists. If guns are the problem, then why are there less shootings where there are more armed citizens. The criminals know someone will be shooting back at them.
Hey man, I'm a Swiss who is an SF operator in the Swiss Army. I totally agree with you on this debunking. - We have a huge amount of guns in the country but no crimes because we respect the responsibility that goes with it. - The problem in America isn't the guns, but rather the education of certain people and that is what the government should be focusing on. - In Switzerland we are not a militia to protect the country but the people (which is a difference imo). - The government in Switzerland is not entitled to any legislative decision without the people's agreement. So yes if the government was to become tyrannic we wouldn't protect this government, we would protect the Swiss people. The problem is never the gun, it's always the person behind the gun. Thank you for that interesting video !
When something is used in a way that it was not designed for, you’re going to get the wrong results. Guns are dangerous weapons which are designed to KILL, or to cause serious injury, if you’re lucky enough. They aren’t designed for killing innocent people and school kids, and they aren’t designed for killing people in supermarkets, shopping malls and public places. But this is what happens in the US every single day. The only people who should have access to guns are the military, special law enforcement and licenced individuals (eg. shooting clubs, farming/hunting). You can’t just have access to firearms for no valid reason. If people are given access to guns without a valid reason, the guns will be misused and people will get killed In Switzerland, guns are being used for a valid reason - shooting competitions and hunting. That’s why they don’t have a gun violence problem. In the US, everyone has the right to own a gun, regardless of who they are, which is MADNESS!!! Like I said above, if something is used in a way that it was not designed for, you’re going to get the wrong results. That’s why thousands and thousands of people are killed by guns in the US every year, and it’s not meant to be that way Lastly, let’s not forget that the US is the only country on earth where people literally have unfettered access to every kind of firearms you can imagine. To this day, many Americas still believe (crazily!) that owning a gun is the most effective way to protect themselves. Well, let’s look at this this for a moment. If arming everyone with a gun makes society a safer place, then America would be the safest country on earth. But it’s not. America isn’t even on the top ten list of safest countries. That tells you all you need to know. What does every shooter have in common? They were all able to get a gun. So, access to guns leads to gun violence. The solution to gun violence? Ban them all. If nobody has a gun, then nobody can shoot. Problem solved.
@@archangel0137 Switzerland has a largely homogeneous population, and DOES NOT HAVE public officials who actively promote class warfare. If the gun death statistics in the U.S. were to exclude Philly, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans and L.A.(all metro areas with democrat local governments, btw), the U.S. would rank 189th globally in gun deaths.
It's not only about gun culture, but about the national use of guns. You can't deny that a lot of people are not part of the gun culture your talking about in america, as if that were to be the case, the number of shootings as a cause of guns wouldn't be that high.
@@StarWarsExpert_ Do yourself a favor and analyze the type of guns used in holds up and robberies and then figure out whether those guns would not be around if gun control were stricter. Many people would say everything he knows about guns he learned in his Lefty bubble. I've decided that "bubble" isn't descriptive enough. He's learned everything through Virtual Reality.
He's making that documentary in the point of view of a liberal American who's really never been around guns at all. Once you take that into account it makes sense.
I found his video a few hours after he uploaded it, youtube recommended it because of course they're shoving it into people's faces, I debunked a bunch of his nonsense, got into arguments with a few people, and within a few hours all of my comments were deleted 🤣
I used to know Johnny Harris. When he was still a member of LDS church we served together in the same mission (Tijuana, Mexico). After the mission, we were friends on Facebook, and he posted a question about banning guns to help bring down violence. He wanted responses from both sides. I gave him mine, which was basically it wouldn't matter. I pointed to the fact of Mexico where we served still had violence, and the fact regular citizens are not allowed to have guns. Basically, my argument was evil people will always find a way to kill. After that day he unfriended me and blocked me. I was surprised and this happened i think in 2013. I dont have Facebook anymore. Every time I see his videos on RUclips, I remember when I use to work together, he is a good person and I have nothing against him. But after he blocked me for giving me opinion basically told me he is not willing to listen to both sides. And will shut down opposing opinions out. Ever since then when people show me his videos I tell them my story and why I wouldn't trust his content because he doesn't look at all point of views.
This would actually have some credibility since Johnny mentions being an exmo. But if possible (and if you're fine with that) is that post still up, just curious.
That dudes delusion seems to stem from communism, he's always talking about the collective, rather than the individual. Such people have serious mental problems, like voting democrat.
It's similar to a lot of ex-mormon personality changes when people leave the LDS faith. People are so invested that when they leave they often become vindictive toward the church and think they know more about everything else now that they figured out the church isn't true. I grew up LDS and left, and I think that mindset is stupid. The documentary he posted isn't overtly anti gun, but it has that same holier-than-thou flavor that I see daily here in Utah from people that think they know everything now that they've "opened their minds" past religion. It's just more talking and virtue signaling dogwhistles so he can feel like a journalist and social pariah for the people he's pandering to, nothing will ever change unless people start doing things instead of making B.S. art pieces to try and make other people change instead.
I watched his video about leaving the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He lost a lot of credibility in my eyes with how he misrepresented many important parts of the church. This video cements my view that he is well intentioned but far from objective. I wish he could use his platform for more unbiased reporting because he does a good job in many regards
The right to keep and bear arms, is not exclusive to just guns, it also includes swords, bows, axes, Spears, ect. The founding fathers used the word arms, because it would include both old, current, and future tools to be used to not only protect the country and oneself from foreign enemies, but also domestic ones.
@@fajile5109 You left out the word "also". It shouyld be "I still think they ALSO meant cannons." In which case, you would be entirely correct. And there you have one of the biggest differences in swiss and american gun culture. Your relationship base with your govermnet starts with distrust. Ours is the opposite. We trust our goverment and in return the goverment hands us out a rifle for free to defend the country. This does not mean btw. we wouldn't turn on a tyranical goverment. It's just not something we are assuming from the start and instead are having a bit of faith.
@@spectre1725 "This does not mean btw. we wouldn't turn on a tyranical goverment." Yes, it absolutely does. "Having a bit of faith" in "your" government sounds really cultish. And cults do not ever turn on their cult leaders. You are putting your life in the hands of an organisation that, for now, wants to keep you good. History shows that that can change at any time, from one day to the other.
The USA was literally founded by people who defended their people and their country AGAINST their government. It's astounding that I as a European know that, yet many Americans, like the smart sounding guy in the "documentary", don't.
He hikes in Switzerland, and smiles as he close talks into the camera. He's more connected to nature in a spiritual but not religious kind of way. He's in tune with a higher wave length than most people, especially those who have to work most weekends. If we all just followed him, nobody would NEEEEEEED guns. Hell, we wouldn't WANT guns. The woods are for hiking, not shooting.
Johnny clearly gets funding from certain... special interests... that I surmise are largely the same as the same types of chosen people that fund the mainstream press.
Hi from Switzerland, former Sgt from the Swiss Inf, that was our standard issue assault rifle, not a maschine gun. we get a standard issue rifle for our service, but after our service is complete we either have to buy the rifle from the military, or give it back. If we wish to buy our service rifle there are things we need yo complete before hand. In the US, any firearm that fires more than one round with a single action of the trigger is classified by law as a "machine gun" under the national firearms act of 1934. What you are likely trying to do is equate the "belt fed machine gun" with the legal definition of "machine gun." Unfortunately almost all laws that pertain to guns in the US are written by those that don't understand them. Colion Noir is lawyer. He's using the US legal definition of that firearm.
This guy never spent any time in ranges in the USA. The ranges ive been to & are a member of have some of the greatest sense of community, are the nicest people ive ever met, and are more diverse than the United Nations. Willful, deliberate ignorance.
All ranges in California be like: OMG, your AR/AK is too loud, you pulled the trigger more than once in a 5-second interval, you are banned! It's so sad and pathetic here.
"I'm so used to guns being about politics and being divisive." Yeah, dude, people like YOU are the reason for that. What a goofball. Thanks for the upload, Colion.
I once dated an anti-gun liberal. I persuaded her to go to the range with me so I could sight in my deer rifle and give her a chance to shoot one of my 22s. It was a small public range with no range officer. About 10 people there. We left after couple hours. After we left she couldn't stop talking about how polite, careful and helpful everyone was. She was also surprised that no one was drinking. She had grown up in an urban anti gun culture and all she knew about gun ranges were the unfounded stereotypes of beer drinking careless red necks. She also was surprised at how much skill was required to shoot accurately. She didn't run right out and buy a gun but she was more accepting of my gun ownership.
What you did is one off the best ways to open the eyes of those who have been deceived about gun use and ownership. Sadly, there are many anti-gun people who will refuse an invitation to go to the range.
Here is the rest of the story. I had to promise her that after we were done at the range I would take her to a nearby art museum. While there she gave me a quick kiss and said "I'll bet were the only ones here who have been shooting today." Her expression was like she had just done something naughty and had gotten away with it.@@kbrilhart
I love the inclusion of using guns to “exterminate” in reference to native Americans. How can he not know it was the government that did that not individual citizens with their personal guns
You understand that the US Government once put bounty on native Americans, they were literally killed indiscriminately and scalped for money. Please be better and actually learn your early America history from an actual historian. And yes, guns were literally the weapon of choice to kill Native Americans. Have a great day.
My wife and I listened to this while we were driving from a couple towns away back home. Every time the "documentary" was being played, she would make snide remarks like "he's so stupid." The woman I married didn't even know her dad had guns until after we'd been married for several years. He's a world war II veteran and didn't broadcast that he owned firearms to anybody, including his own daughters. His sons knew, and they got the guns. I got my father's guns and then traded with my brothers so that we all had the ones we wanted the most. Guns are a wholesome activity that have brought many families together. The families they tear apart are evil, liberal(not necessarily Democrat), and already criminal.
"inalienable rights"...can someone tell me why all the 'educated' people can't understand such a simple phrase..."Rights that are not transferable or capable of being taken away or nullified". It is so annoying to hear lawyers try to argue that we have a "Bill of privilege"
@@archangel0137 Did you not watch the video? The military and law enforcement aren't going to be there if a criminal enters your home unannounced, citizens need guns to defend themselves since the government can't help them. And criminals can still get guns illegally, do you really think banning all guns will somehow stop crime?
@@archangel0137 Your conflating violence with gun violence. As gun violence is just violence that involved a gun. If we take away all the guns we will have gotten rid of gun violence. But not violence.
@@archangel0137 guns are tools with different purposes and they can be used to kill people but in the military they also have other applications. People can use tools to harm people, just as you can use a knife or even a shovel to kill people. If the only people who have access to guns are military and law enforcement then they can just mess around with you and you can't do anything just like in dystopian societies, how are you going to stop a man with a gun violating your rights if you don't have one? People misuse guns because they are uneducated or they are criminals who obtain them illegally anyways. Switzerland doesn't have a gun problem like us because for the most part they have a good economy and one of the highest living standards in Europe, so people don't have a reason to form gangs or deal drugs. And no we don't have access to every kind of firearm you can imagine. Automatic weapons are borderline impossible to buy in the United States unless you go through an extremely lengthy process in certain states to obtain a permit to buy one, and buying one will cost you well over $10,000-$15,000 since you can only buy one manufactured before 1986, making it impossible for most average people. We aren't on the top ten list of safest countries because of inner city violence and gang warfare. You can literally live in Chicago in peace but if you go to the wrong part of town you will live in risk of dying to gang violence (or as you call it for political reasons gun violence). Banning all guns has the same effect as banning drugs like marijuana has had. People still sold it people still had access to it. People still have access to other drugs like cocaine or meth, but they're banned. OH! And once again who deals marijuana and coke and meth?? Gangs, same groups responsible for gun violence. Maybe if you took a trip to St. Louis or even New York where I've seen gang violence or any city where there is economic depravity and gang warfare you would realize what's the problem. This idea you keep spreading is because you never have taken a step into what the real world is. People in these places are fighting for their lives on the daily, and instead of trying to help people who are in poverty and struggling we squabble over what restrictions to put on law abiding citizens with guns. Great job we're doing in this country. Hopefully you actually read and try to consider this point instead of spewing out nonsense.
I would even consider accepting a tax credit for the expense of arming myself and my loved ones. At the very least, no government should tax it's citizens for exercising their second amendment.@@BU1Lander
@@konnorj6442That's one gun, of the government's choosing. Maybe two if they are issued a handgun, also of their choice, not the individual. After that, they still don't get to use them like the US. There is nothing more criminal than unbridled government spending and unilaterally voting amongst themselves to raise the debt ceiling to keep doing so.
As a member of the Swiss Army and owner of a firearm myself, I think Jonny is right in many aspects. Although I agree, that he leaves out the important part of how many Americans, as you seem to be for example, use their guns responsibly. The issue is, that we, in comparison to America, have basically no accidents or assault with firearms. What Jonny tried to find out is, in my opinion, why that's the case and his conclusion, even though it is not discussing every aspect of it, seems quite logical. I can see why you'd say that it is purely political in motive on first glance, especially from your point of view, but I believe he is genuinely searching for a solution in the US. I'm pretty sure he even states that directly in the video. He (Jonny Harris) has seen, that no one fears firearms in switzerland and no one wants to ban them. He also states, that the swiss system couldn't work in the US because of the historical context guns developed in. For me it comes across that he started to like firearms in Switzerland and pitties the fact, that some dumbasses ruin it for all of the gun owners in America. So he is for firearms, just not the way they are oftentimes portraied, maybe even glorified and used as a tool for fun games in an unresponsible manner. Calling his rather neutral documentary a "passive agressive hitpiece against the second amendment" is wild..
Damn, that documentary was dissected so well. Thanks Colion! You're doing important work and advocating the protection of the 2A despite it being attacked so much more than ever! You can tell that guy is trying so hard to skew facts and disguising the propaganda as a documentary, which scary enough...he did a good job doing.
@@MR-backup And why is Johnny Harris lying or misrepresenting facts? WHY does he think individual rights are bad, and should be returned to the "collective"? He exposed Johnnys video about China as a paid promotion for the WEF and their stakeholder capitalsm ideology. Aka transnationalism or globalism. He is not just making paid and not properly marked advertisement videos, but also an author for the WEF blog and promotion team.
It struck me too, after watching Johnny's video, that he was comparing the "reality" of gun culture in Switzerland with a *narrative* about gun culture in America. I was annoyed that he hadn't visited any gun ranges in America before making his comparisons, which sounded more like pushing an agenda than furthering our understanding of the real world.
I’m thankful you say “reality” with quotation marks. Because it’s really not, it’s a narrative for us too. It’s portrayed as if we all go to the shooting competition at the beginning… I never heard of it before, it’s kind of a niche hobby really. The part on swiss history looks like he romanticised an already romanticised version of swiss history he found somewhere online. In fact, notice the lack of sources everywhere ? The only “sources” are the randoms he interviews. It’s like all the budget went on the plane tickets and fun animations, none left for research. I don’t know about the accuracy of the American part of the video, but seeing how bad the part with Switzerland is… the reaction and comments do not surprise me.
@@matthias0054 Hahaha great to hear.. Yes not sure why but something seemed fishy... I *do* find it odd that an independent producer, with supposedly benign intentions, would create something which feigns factuality so completely; and also inadvertently supports a political concept which aims to restrict rights of sovereign citizens...
He should see the reality of gun culture where I live in the Italian Alps just across from the Swiss border. Literally all my neighbours have guns, they are privately owned, not given by the government, and we do go out in the woods to shoot. We are much more limited legally than Americans are, but we do what we do... The same for my friends in Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Very strong privately owned gun cultures there, and yes, they go out in the woods to shoot at tin cans and other targets.

Comming from someone who has watched a ton of Johnny's documentaries as well, I really hate how he painted this picture about their gun culture vs ours. It really was a huge failure on his journalistic integrity. He spent so much time with Swiss gun owners, Swiss citizens, shoting range owners but couldnt spend any time with any American ones to give their POV.

I like how Johnny said he used too shoot shotguns at bottles in the woods, then he was saying it's his first time shooting a gun. I'm glad you covered this bs
Left wing collectivism requires the people pushing it to be disingenuous. If they came right out and said… “yeah, you will own nothing and essentially be property of the government”. Not many people would be too willing join the movement.

Since 2016 there is a trend if you say its for selfdefens, your likely not getting a gun
The Framers understood two things: human history, and human nature. They understood most people throughout history have lived under some form of authoritarianism, or tyranny, i.e., a threat of force. The Framers also understood human nature enough to know there would always be those who'd seek to impose their will on others - by force if necessary. Any government that seeks to disarm its responsible law-abiding citizens is a government to beware.

@@MaxCruise73 Yeah I know they weren't. I was just poking fun at people who think American gun culture is people going out to shoot at bottles and cans.
I think Harris should do a makeup video about true American gun culture. He owes it to his audience and he would learn something. It's interesting because he's Mormon from Utah, and guns aren't exactly foreign to them. In fact, in this video he mentioned shooting shotguns as a kid so it seems to me this is a little performative for the liberal crowd.
A small correction: The shooting competition wasn‘t long range, or at least isn‘t considered long range in Switzerland. It is on a distance of 300 meters, which is the basic rifle qualification range for Swiss soldiers. Every service member has to qualify annually on 300m (or 25m for higher NCOs and officers, since their personal weapon is a pistol). Just some nice to know things about those competitions/ qualifications: Each 300m range (partially funded by the defense department) will host several competitions over the summer where you can just walk into the building, grab the necessary ammo and shoot your qualification. If you fail to do your qualifications you will be fined (iirc first time will be about 200$, second time 400$ and then it will gradually rise). So a lot of people are going to the range because they are legally obligated to do so.
Well that's a good thing. Don't let em reduce standards like here. Basic training is joke here now, they don't even have to be able to do a pushup the right way. Military & schools actively creating more useless and ignorant people.
@@SooSmokie There is also intermediate range inbetween long and short range. 0-300m is the range every Swiss soldier is trained on. Everything beyond it is only for specialized marksmen and snipers. So no, 300m is not considered long range in Switzerland.
As a foreigner who just started going to gun ranges and shooting competitions this year, 2A folks seem to be one of the most disciplined groups here in the US.
Gun-fear mongers are afraid of the concept of concealed carry. Statistics show that people who go to the extra effort of getting concealed carry training are typically more law-abiding than police.
This needs to be deconstructed further. The reason given for gun control is to prevent gun violence. Switzerland shows us that availability of firearms, even mass casualty producing ones, does not cause violence. Therefore it's a social one, what makes Switzerland less violent. The "magical" word is just that. They have a higher social morals. They value their neighbors more. They value law and order. Also shooting clubs, that you can join as a child, meaning they foster responsible gun culture whereas in the US it's demonized.
💯 this. How great would it be if all Americans received proper training and education about firearms? Our collective love for guns would be that much stronger. Anti-gunners would be a slim minority.
I watched that video and was working on a comment. You nailed it Colton. He never admits that those acts of violence are caused by the person and not the gun. The problem in America is the deterioration of morals and values. Like you have said a socio-economic problem.
He misses one big thing. Only 30% of the Swiss population get a gun from the government. The other 70% are though allowed to buy semi auto or with the right permits full auto with a simple paper background check (they don't have a computerized system), without being in the militia. 25% of the Swiss population aren't even citizens. I have lived in Switzerland, Austria and now Czechia and it amazes me how no one in the USA seems to understand basic facts about our gun laws. They just seem to pull them out their butt. Bloke on the Range a fantastic Swiss/British RUclips channel does a great job of explaining how the US anti gun lobby literally makes up things about Switzerland.
So who is going to change the culture in the US? When are we as responsible people going to stand up and say enough is enough. If the government is wrong if the liberals are wrong (and I believe they are) when are the responsible gun owners going to stand up and change things?
I remember all complaints the left had of President Reagan and the Moral Majority and the patriots mostly in fly over territory. Now look what the commies have brought to us since then. Exactly! It is cultural rot purposely created to divide and conquer society by via progressivism which is Marxism plain and simple, it’s all about power and control over society!
As a European he also glosses over the fact that the USA is pretty big and flat so if you live remote the police isn’t there within 30 minutes while in Switzerland it is along with the fact that Swiss police is much better at investigating and has more resources to put in such an investigation
I'm from the Netherlands and went on vacation to the US recently, and decided to go to a gun range, curious just to experience what it's actually like. Now maybe Colorado is different, but compared to how it tends to be described, I didn't see any of that. Everyone was super kind (albeit the instructor was super serious, which he kinda should be), respectful and did absolutely everything to be safe. They were just happy to introduce us to something they really enjoyed and wanted to make sure we were safe and had fun there. Strangest things we saw were lawyer ads absolutely everywhere, portion sizes being about double what we expected and medication being sold in Walmart that doctors here wouldn't even let you touch unless you have some serious illness. In Switzerland, they keep their hands off their, "essentially" 2A Rights, "No More Gun Laws, Allowed..."
I'm from Switzerland, and I like American gun culture. The reason guns are portrayed so negatively in America is because the government wants to take away your guns. Also, the society in America is a lot more unstable compared to Switzerland, which is why gun violence is a bigger problem in the US. Anyways, I support my American brothers to keep their freedom and their gun rights. God bless you
open border multiculturalism destabilizes societies - the so-called "enrichment" is the cultural dissolution of the host nation citizenry (and it's being done intentionally throughout much of the West)
I think you made a very salient point there. It's portrayed negatively because the government (which is supposed to protect and defend the Constitution) wants to take away our guns. And the media (essentially run by neo-Marxist oligarchs) keeps the fires stoked.
So in Switzerland can any 21 year old walk into a sporting goods store and buy unlimited guns and ammunition? Even with previous (misdemeno) convictions for domestic violence or drugs posession? Or does the Government "take away their guns"? Is that strict gun control?
I said it before and I’ll say it again! Being from Morocco originally living in America! I love and I mean I LOVE the 2nd amendment for all the reasons anybody with a brain would love it! And having said that for 700th time! Damn im grateful to have your voice and reason out here in this world These dummies don’t know how good they got it bro Thanks for all that you do for us regular citizens 🙏🏾🙏🏾 Really appreciate it 🙏🏾
Suicide rates actually drop when guns are out of the question. I don't think this is a good reason to ban guns but well, the argument actually has some ground to stand on.
This is perhaps the best video that you’ve ever posted on RUclips. You used the thinly veiled gun control argument posing as a documentary for an opportunity to educate people about the 2nd amendment and the right of the American citizens to keep and bear arms. Well done Colion Noir, thank you for speaking out on behalf of the legal and responsible gun owners in America.
Long story short, Americans got too comfortable with our right to bear arms being infringed, and the Swiss are constantly told that they have to have guns and its their duty to defend their country so taking away THEIR guns would be considered preposterous.
Yeah except instead of the right to bear arms being put there by the people for the people the Swiss right to have arms are put there by the government for the people to protect the government
As soon as we replace our service rifle in switzerland, our lefty politicians will attack the swiss gun culture again and try to infringe on our rights, just a question of time. Regulations are increased all the time.
No most Guns here arent army stuff. And Swiss are in power not the goverment. So nobody can take them away. We dont have a right but we dont need it. Because we are the goverment. We are not like all the others with there fake democracy.
@@levicarpenter5509 No because here People are the goverment not some party or politicians. Thats what nobody understands. We are the only free people. We make all Laws not them. I believe there is nothing to debate. The documentary is not saying that in the United States people just go out into the woods and shoot their guns uncontrollably, ... it says that in Switzerland, NO ONE goes into the woods to shoot without control. That doesn't mean there aren't well-regulated shooting competitions in the United States, ... it is saying that in Switzerland, shooting only occurs in safe places and that the camaraderie around firearms is more formal and orderly than in the United States. This is the reason why Switzerland has as many guns as the United States, and yet the levels of crime and firearm accidents are much lower.
I found his video a few hours after he uploaded it, youtube recommended it because of course they're shoving it into people's faces, I debunked a bunch of his nonsense, got into arguments with a few people, and within a few hours all of my comments were deleted 🤣
I have euro friends that traveled here just to see with their own eyes how americans deal with weapons and they were all shocked about how everyone were so "professional" about it. They always had that impression that when we see a friend on the streets, we compliment and then show our guns to each other type of thing
Yup, similar story here. I have friends from east Asia that came here and were initially afraid of guns but after shooting the first mags, they had a big grin on their faces.
I literally just watched that "documentary" a couple hours ago (and thus right before this video). This dude: "OMG sounds like a war zone!" Nope, that's a range. You're literally at a shooting range. What did you think was happening there? Also, American gun culture? Let's go to Switzerland!
Exactly! When he said that I knew he was a snowflake that was going to be as hyperbolic about everything, firearm related, he touched in that gon control ad, I mean, "documentary".
Spot on Colion. Johnny certainly has a flare for the dramatics... It's interesting that he misled his viewers to believe that it was the people that slaughtered Native American Indians and not the military of the government. Keep calling out the BS!
I like how in his documentary, he doesn’t investigate why there’s so much more crime in the 60’s and 70’s, Which can be directly correlated to the teens growing up in a welfare state neighborhood. The numbers he pulls for the gun related deaths, like Colion mentions, aren’t even a fraction of a percent of the total population of America.
Agreed, the Welfare Act of 1964 passed under LBJ has destroyed a lot of people's desire to work and better themselves. Black communities had fathers in the house prior to the bill passing.
Fending off a tyrannical entity or hostile foreign power is exactly the same as protecting yourself against a criminal thug: Someone trying to force their will on you without your consent. Having proper and effective tools enables you to say "No"
Not the same at all... 1. Risking your life for what insurance can pay back is ridiculous. 2. Your houses are made of cardboard. Shooting at the intruder sounds fun, but not for the neighbour getting hit. Self defence with a weapon when a life is threatened is understandable. Problem, very often the gun can cause the unsafe situation. Or the shooting is absolutely not justified... 3. Americans tend to believe that they are all Rambo, able to do whatever with a weapon because they saw it online. Even cops trained for school shooting cases didn't dare to enter Uvalde's school because of the AR-15. Unless one is trained, a weapon is a very dangerous tool. 4. Switzerland sees guns as a defense against external threats. Self defence isn't the role for guns. That's the job of the police. Why is there less violence? Because there is less poverty in most of developed countries than in the US: And the countries that are getting poverty issues start to have violence. If the US wants to be a safer place, there are major mentality shifts to have. No guns are not THE solution against violence.
@@fabr5747 "didn't dare to enter Uvalde's school because of the AR-15." The number of incidents where cops willingly rush into active shooter situations with just pistols, not knowing what the shooter is armed with, far outweighs this one incident. Uvalde was piss poor leadership, not fear of the magically deadly AR-15.
@@fabr5747 1. everyone who cites insurance is just signaling they aren't a real adult or have never experienced any hardship at all. You know insurance doesn't make you whole, right? Pretty much never. It takes ages, which depending on what has been taken/destroyed can ruin you, it has a deductible (which can be thousands and thousand of dollars for high value items...like everything in your house), it will permanently raise your premiums, and the insurance company may contest or deny your claim/the values involved. My girlfriend was hit by a motorist using commercial insurance, that company denied the claim because the vehicle was private use, my gf has uninsured motorist coverage...still cost her a grand. And that was for a minor accident. A grand for a minor incident, it scales out of control quickly. 2. You're an absolute moron if you think a gun is escalating someone being in your home. Thieves aren't idiots, they will enter when you're not around. Anyone entering your home while you're in it intends violence or a sexual attack.
I saw Johnny's video the day it came out and I had all the same critiques towards it. I really wished someone would make a video pointing out everything that was wrong with it, and I'm very happy that it was you that did it. His channel is pretty big, and many of his videos are pretty well made, so it's important that someone with similar reach and quality of production points out the things he's wrong about. Thank you!
Main difference is in Switzerland we are not allowed to carry a gun on the street except for going to the shooting range. Rounds separated in the bag. Nobody is allowed to wear loaded gun except cops, customs, bodyguards or fund carryers.
Actually no. The main difference between Switzerland and USA is history, and the society these histories have created. You cannot analyse two counties without understanding those countries, and you cannot understand any country without understanding that country's past--what happened to the people and WHY. And history is often determined by geography. Individuals are the same. To understand their behavior, their politics and their values you have to understand their story.
Excellent rebuttal. I served my country for 20 years so I know what my government is capable of. Thats why my family and I are in the process of moving to a pro 2A state. As intellectually dishonest as Johnny was being he makes pretty good documentaries. As usual I take everything I watch or hear with a huge grain of salt. Keep up the great work!
Dear Americans, in Switzerland only the police and certain security companies have the opportunity to carry a weapon. Of course, criminals also have the opportunity to purchase a weapon illegally and only very rarely do private individuals have a firearms carry license. So be vigilant so that you don't give up your 2A, once it's gone and you've lost it forever.

The author Michael Crichton coined the term "Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect" which was named after his physicist friend Murray Gell-Mann. "It is a psychological phenomenon that highlights people's tendency to recognize the unreliability of media when it comes to topics they're familiar with, while still trusting the media for information on other topics." -from The Portal Wiki. Falsus in uno, falsus in omnibus (false in one thing, false in all things) is also another term.
I love that in his documentary he mentions crime going up, and then people feel the need to defend themselves to they buy more guns and he points at the guns as bad rather than the crime rates 😂
People are buying guns because they have lost faith in law enforcement and their ability to keep criminals at bay and the justice system that isn't keeping criminals locked up.
I am Swiss and served in the military as an alpine grenadier. I lived in the United States for 10 years, where I earned my university degrees. Consequently, you cannot compare the US with Switzerland, particularly regarding gun issues. In Switzerland, we have many more shooting ranges than in the US, not out of necessity, but because it's a tradition. In his documentary, you can see footage of people of all ages participating in shooting activities. However, the Swiss have a much more relaxed attitude towards guns. We do not attach rights, laws, or constitutional issues to gun ownership. We simply have them and know how to use them-that's it. You should come and see for yourself; it's not like the States. His documentary is excellent because he visited Switzerland and experienced it firsthand. Cool Channel - Thx !
His documentary is NOT excellent, because it gave a firsthand approach to Switzerland, but poorly framed the US perspective. I recommend you visit the States before believing any random “documentary”, the same way I would not misjudge your country.
@@ErikVRed not sure what you trying to tell me. However, I did live in your country for over 10 years - check my txt above. All I say is that the US and Switzerland are not comparable in regard to the Gun issues. We all have guns, know how to use them and that’s it. We do not attach any constitutional nor any political ideologies and or rights to it. Therefore I think his documentary was on the point. Ps: have you travelled Switzerland ; )
@@festermann Maybe you didn’t understand me. His documentary does not portray the States accurately at all. Also, your statement about Switzerland having more gun ranges than the US is incorrect- the US has 4x as many gun ranges as Switzerland (maybe not per capita, but that’s also because Americans are not forced to be in the military). My point is if Europeans fully trust these “documentaries”, they will have an incorrect view of the States.
... of course per capita : ) 8 vs. 320 mio in population and we are not forced into the military, it's called a militia system : ) . However, I can understand that you have some issues in regard to how the US is portrayed.

We used to have that culture and we taught gun safety in school. Then we went away from that and more onto “gun control”. We used to train citizens and everything was better with them.
When my dad was growing up, he said people had rifles in their trucks at school, and these mass shootings didn't happen. What changed? It's not the guns, it's the people.

The biggest difference between Switzerland and the US is that Switzerland has a higher median income, lower poverty rate, strict immigration laws, and a more cohesive culture. hmm I wonder why they don't have as much crime?
They don't have gerrymandering democrats who do backdoor tricks to maintain black slavery and servitude through underhanded loopholes they forced into the lawbooks to ensure they don't actually have to give up slavery.
The entire problem the gun haters complain about is driven by culture. The Progressive Democrat run cities are war zones because they celebrate depravity and have no respect for life. The suburbs and rural areas despite being armed to the teeth have crime rates lower than anywhere in Europe. Rural and suburban culture values good moral character and the rule of law.
Hey Colion, your timing couldn't have been better on this one. We just watched the Harris video yesterday. He does a great job in the beginning and we enjoyed the Swiss history lesson. He then cleverly "flips" the narrative to anti 2nd Amendment. You can clearly tell he's not a gun owner or actually familiar at all with how gun owners gather or act throughout the USA to enjoy shooting and the community. I'll be commenting on his video shortly and leaving a link to this one. 😉Keep on fighting the good fight!
I knew it the whole video. I couldn't put my finger on it, since he mad some good points about prior Republic government models (providing sources) and how there is a duty clause to the 2A (which leads to healthy community), but after the ending I knew he was a snake in the grass!
The liberal mindset in America is that all guns are evil and need to be banned. Liberals in America want a disarmed citizenry. Like Communists, liberals put their faith in big government and not in God.
Yeah, its hard to tell when they are totally still snakey, or just refuse to give away their calling card. They will get awoken to things done corruptly and lies told. But then still want to side with the lies, because its home. Its where the elites are. A sense of belonging or just desire for it. You see that with many of Libs. Gaming has it. Where the get censored. Find out they aren't immune. Realize a lie, but then go and try to roast amd discredit their own followers and others that keep getting it right. Liberalism is like the Vaxxez. You need it to always be right. Sometimes it may he wrong, but you were always trying to be right...therefore you are right. Anyone that denies them and are right, got a lucky guess and really lucky they weren't harmed by not obeying the liberal mindset.
My heritage is Swiss. My great-grandfather came over in the 1800's. And yes, my family heritage in a large part is about guns. God bless the USA, God bless the 2nd Amendment!
There are reasons folks came here from elsewhere, and it bothers me to say the least that folks are making this Nation represent the things folks came here to get away from.
Mine as well. I have family I go back and visit over there (Bern). They do love their guns over there, old K31s on the walls. Not sure I'd say they love guns more than us though..
As a strict Constitutionalist, I always found the wording of the 2nd Amendment to be odd, given the common understanding that it protected the right so that the people could form a militia. While reading the debates around it, I had an epiphany. It didn't. In the debates surrounding the BoR and the 2nd Amendment, they were debating the need to protect the country, either via a standing army or a militia. They didn't want a standing army OR a militia (that the government would try to control), but found it to be a necessary evil. They specifically said that the government would even use the militia of one state against the militia of another; or simply declare the militia null and void. So, they basically said, "Because a militia is a necessary evil, and the government will attempt to control or abolish the militia, the people retain the right to bear arms to defend against it." The government went right to work establishing the Militia Act of 1792 to take control of the militia.
Is it possible that some of the founding documents of the U.S. were vague on purpose ? An interesting book : Hologram of Liberty by Kenneth W. Royce. Read reviews.
Fascinating how much time and effort Mr. Harris put into a nice trip to Switzerland to simply wander around and spew his personal opinion. If he loved this country as much as he fetishizes Switzerland, he could be a 2A spokesperson.
There is no such thing as "2A" or any equivalent in Switzerland, so why should he be a "2A spokesperson"? They don't have the "right to bear guns", but a duty to prepare for a war in a controlled fashion.
@NoToobForYou I absolutely fucking love the US. I hate at the incompetent people that have made us lose/restrict our rights little by little. I visited Switzerland this summer and it's immaculate in any big city which I envy. We can't have that here.
@@Mrfitrider1no one is hating on Switzerland. As a matter of fact I get wet dreams of the Swiss Confederacy.

I grew up around guns. Lots and lots of guns. The guns in the home were almost never locked up. I knew where my dad’s guns were and where the ammo was. He kept them separate, not locked up, and always made sure it was not loaded. I knew where his guns were even as a little girl. The only time guns were locked was after my brother was an adult and he admitted he only locked them because he had a pistol among his collection and didn’t want my parents to know because they didn’t like it. No one ever shot anyone else, not even accidentally. I remember a gun standing in the corner of my other brother’s bedroom for months, no one touched it, except occasionally someone would clean it, or take it out to shoot groundhogs. It’s people like this guy in the documentary that have changed how the ignorant now use guns. They have created the narrative through media and entertainment that guns are no longer to protect yourself from a tyrant government, self protection, recreational, and hunting, but have created this false idea that mass shootings are primarily what guns are used for in the US. There are millions of us with more than one gun in the home and we don’t shoot each other.
Bought my first rifle when I was 12 in California. .22 cal semi auto Ruger btw. I was always safe with it.. but it shows how much things have been forced to change.
My family as well. My grandfather kept his guns in a cabinet that he locked but could easily be popped open, but no one ever touched them. Whether we were interested in guns or not, we learned from toddlers that guns were dangerous, were not toys. We learned how to carry a gun, shoot it, clean it and store it and treat it with special care and respect.
I only have to disagree about one point. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun. Make sure it is no loaded, store it in such a fashion that it is loaded though, think of it as loaded at all times. I am from the South. I do not know of a single person that ever assumed an alligator would not bite their hand off if they put said hand in the gator's mouth. I was taught to look at firearms with that same respect. If I always tell myself it is loaded, the odds of a one time accident when I was wrong drop significantly. How many people have been shot when they or someone else said, 'it is unloaded...see.'
@@tactilecola5709 most of all I hear war and combat described as confusing. You draw up battle plans but things happen, you end up seeing guys and wondering “are those my guys?, do I shoot them.” Gun ranges are usually pretty ordered places nothing like a war zone.

Truth. I grew up in a home with a father who was retired military and a police officer. I was raised respecting firearms and using them as a responsible marksman, hunter and citizen. No boogie man because I was raised with respect and competence.
I am a Swiss citizen who has served in the military and also own a gun. He represents our gun culture very well but we do also have people (although they are very rare) who go out into the woods and shoot random shit often with guns that aren’t even legal Tommy guns for example. Nevertheless we still have much much fewer gun related crimes. I personally think this is due to the fact that 95% of gun owners received proper firearms training in the military and that we have generally much lower crime rates, fewer Drug problems and no gangs. One more point that comes to mind is that it is very very hard to receive a license to carry weapons in Switzerland. Only law enforcement, active military personnel and some extremely rare cases of civil individuals that are at a high risk of personal safety are allowed to carry firearms. I do not understand why you need to be allowed to go shopping with a gun on you.
What does firearms training have to do with criminal mindset? Our problem is that our liberal government won’t keep violent criminals in prison. If you lived where I do you would want to carry a weapon when you went shopping. The adage “When seconds count the police are minutes away “ is very true.
@@Flawampuscat Professional training doesn’t necessarily relate to crimes but it does help a lot with accidents. Gun crime here is a function of crime at large. Which is driven by socioeconomic issues for the most part.

As an adult, I have gone to a gun range exactly once. Before that, in high school we had our own indoor range which was also used for NRA hunter safety courses. All my practice and recreational shooting is done on public lands here in the PNW of Oregon, BLM and National Forest in the real outdoors. And I do clean up after myself and others that are stupid and shouldn't be out there.
I wrote comments in there but don’t expect it to be read: I pointed to him that in gun ranges all over America we have camaraderie, competition and tradition, I even suggested to him to go to one; I also pointed to him that the 2nd Amendment is NOT ABOUT A FOREIGN power, but INTERNAL TYRANNY, such as the one we are seeing in CA and other states, where federal law enforcement is persecuting Roman Catholics, deeming parents who want to take part on their children’s education “terrorists”, the states, supported by the DOJ disobeying SCOTUS rulings, and that we already live under the initial phases of tyranny. I pointed to him that his statistics are twisted, etc. So, he showed ignorance in that he thinks that the USA has the largest army in the world therefore the 2nd Amendment is not needed, when the fact that the feds have the biggest army in the world is EXACTLY the reason citizens need to be armed and prepared because, not once, nor twice, left winger politicians have hinted, jokingly or not (but seriously), that the “feds have all the guns including nukes” and they said that meaning “against its own people”. This guy is a fruit-cake of the left, ignorant of the history of the second amendment and what goes on in the 2nd amendment supporting world. His distinction between “duty and right” was, at best, childish… Enough said.

His documentary style, narrative crafting, editing, and emotional music illicit an emotional response in people. He can use this to obscure facts which seem to be less important to people now days with said emotion. There is a type of viewer of his that would rather feel right than know they are wrong.

In the US, everyone has the right to own a gun, regardless of who they are, which is MADNESS!!! Like I said above, if something is used in a way that it was not designed for, you’re going to get the wrong results. That’s why thousands and thousands of people are killed by guns in the US every year, and it’s not meant to be that way
Lastly, let’s not forget that the US is the only country on earth where people literally have unfettered access to every kind of firearms you can imagine.

Unfortunately there are many people like this. They want no other opinions and don't listen to facts or use logic

Actually you are wrong it was long range. In no world is 300m a short range.
@@SooSmokie There is also intermediate range inbetween long and short range. 0-300m is the range every Swiss soldier is trained on. Everything beyond it is only for specialized marksmen and snipers. So no, 300m is not considered long range in Switzerland.

Gun-fear mongers are afraid of the concept of concealed carry. Statistics show that people who go to the extra effort of getting concealed carry training are typically more law-abiding than police.
Noo not quite... A lot of them are amazing people, but unfortunately the loud minority cause most of the shit, unfortunately.
And because Switzerland is the place where you are neutral. But yeah Switzerland is what American wants to be in some ways.
Likewise, while touring through 9 states, we never really noticed anything like guns being politicized or anything. Strangest things we saw were lawyer ads absolutely everywhere, portion sizes being about double what we expected and medication being sold in Walmart that doctors here wouldn't even let you touch unless you have some serious illness. (oh, and churches in Utah all looking the same, I guess even churches there are franchised)
Colorado is indeed different, we get a lot of tourists and are pretty welcoming for the international crowd, but honestly our ranges are kinda like everyone's. So long as you don't scare anyone, you're good.
And as far as the churches in Utah all looking the same, most of Utah is majority Mormon-so their churches are all patterned after one another.

What's always over looked is the constitution isn't a list to tell US our rights, it's a list that tells the government what rights they have NO say over.
Well put, very well put! The Bill of Rights is Our Bill of Rights, the Peoples', not the Government's Bill of Rights! The only, Only Amendment that reads, "shall not be infringed," yet the government has infringed on Our 2A Rights more than one can count on 2 hands, by far!
And the media (essentially run by neo-Marxist oligarchs) keeps the fires stoked.
...and God bless you as well. Stay free, and stay safe.
So in Switzerland can any 21 year old walk into a sporting goods store and buy unlimited guns and ammunition? Even with previous (misdemeno) convictions for domestic violence or drugs posession? Or does the Government "take away their guns"? Is that strict gun control?

I believe there is nothing to debate. The documentary is not saying that in the United States people just go out into the woods and shoot their guns uncontrollably, ... it says that in Switzerland, NO ONE goes into the woods to shoot without control. That doesn't mean there aren't well-regulated shooting competitions in the United States, ... it is saying that in Switzerland, shooting only occurs in safe places and that the camaraderie around firearms is more formal and orderly than in the United States. This is the reason why Switzerland has as many guns as the United States, and yet the levels of crime and firearm accidents are much lower.

They don't have gerrymandering democrats who do backdoor tricks to maintain black slavery and servitude through underhanded loopholes they forced into the lawbooks to ensure they don't actually have to give up slavery.
Immigrants are less likely to commit crime in the USA- and most gun fanatics vote against anything to mitigate poverty- even their own.
The entire problem the gun haters complain about is driven by culture. The Progressive Democrat run cities are war zones because they celebrate depravity and have no respect for life. You do a wonderful job of protecting our 2nd amendment. I try to do my part locally. Keep it up
As a strict Constitutionalist, I always found the wording of the 2nd Amendment to be odd, given the common understanding that it protected the right so that the people could form a militia.
So, they basically said, "Because a militia is a necessary evil, and the government will attempt to control or abolish the militia, the people retain the right to bear arms to defend against it."
The government went right to work establishing the Militia Act of 1792 to take control of the militia.

But this is what happens in the US every single day.
The only people who should have access to guns are the military, special law enforcement and licenced individuals (eg. shooting clubs, farming/hunting). You can’t just have access to firearms for no valid reason. If people are given access to guns without a valid reason, the guns will be misused and people will get killed
In Switzerland, guns are being used for a valid reason - shooting competitions and hunting. That’s why they don’t have a gun violence problem. In the US, everyone has the right to own a gun, regardless of who they are, which is MADNESS!!! Like I said above, if something is used in a way that it was not designed for, you’re going to get the wrong results. That’s why thousands and thousands of people are killed by guns in the US every year, and it’s not meant to be that way
Lastly, let’s not forget that the US is the only country on earth where people literally have unfettered access to every kind of firearms you can imagine.
@@archangel0137 Bro, you're getting destroyed in replies. Just take the L and go learn something about guns instead of copying and pasting false talking points.
Banning guns will never stop gang/drug violence or nut jobs trying to make a "statement".@@archangel0137
@@archangel0137 guns are designed to kill? really? well you ought to go tell kim rhode that. all her lazy guns do is turn bullets into bronze, silver and gold.
@@archangel0137 switzerland doesnt have a "gun violence" problem better tell the victims of all these mass shootings.......oh wait! you cant. because theyre dead.

There are guns in every house around mine and never any shots fired.
Cool, now regulate everyone to conduct like your family and other guys' neighborhood do.
Americans with guns: mass shooting
Swiss with guns: 🕊️😴
The problem is the people.
When he compared a Swiss gun range to an active warzone, I knew I was in for something.
tall tale time, that is
It just tells us that he has never been in an active war zone. Or for that matter the poorer parts of any large American city.
literally would have to live under a rock for one to think that that's what war sounds like
@@tactilecola5709 most of all I hear war and combat described as confusing. You draw up battle plans but things happen, you end up seeing guys and wondering “are those my guys?, do I shoot them.” Gun ranges are usually pretty ordered places nothing like a war zone.
I think it's a talent to pack in so much propaganda in such a short space. Doesn't work on us but evidently it works on 81 million.
Colion, you should try to get a debate going with that guy. It's the miseducation, or lack of education that is the cause of these issues. My dad remembers his friends bringing their rifles to school for shooting club. Keep up the amazing work.
💯 please try Colion! Harris seems like the guy that might actually want to do this sort of thing.
No I'm pretty sure it's malice.
Lol that guy doesn’t want to debate Colion. He wants to push propaganda. Never trust leftists
Colion can't debate with delusional people
Or they could just have a beer and talk about guns and gun control...
Thank you for covering this. I was having an aneurysm watching this. Such gaslighting and pretenciousness.
AGREE ENTIRELY. I had same thoughts. Reminds me of the quote; "A prophet from your own village will be ignored and an outsider who says the same thing will be held in high esteem".
I too, have watched some of Johnny's previous videos- and thought they were well done
But I knew there was something suspicious about him when he came off as a beta-male soy-boy.
This recent documentary sums it all up. The guy's a tool.
Thank you so much, Colion, for addressing this BS. 👌🇺🇲💪
I bet his girlfriend has a boyfriend
to be honest his other documentaries have really good editing, to bad in the end he's just a sleeper agent to promote non sense
"people used to train with their guns.... but times have changed."

The history in Switzerland was interesting, but god the take in the last 5-7 minutes we’re hot garbage🤣
“Ong it sounds like a war zone” ….. nah bro it’s a shooting range is what it sounds like
You're referring to the whole "The NRA got people thinking the 2nd Amendment protects individual's right to own a gun" bit right?
@@generalgrant2003 to clarify I meant in the guys video, not CN’s vid.
We all know the NRA don’t really do anything
Colion you’re also a popular RUclipsr. His message, while wrong, still reaches people who may be looking to learn or are open to being influenced.
His documentary style, narrative crafting, editing, and emotional music illicit an emotional response in people. He can use this to obscure facts which seem to be less important to people now days with said emotion.
There is a type of viewer of his that would rather feel right than know they are wrong. A video with hard hitting bland facts probably won’t reach them, but if you can get them to feel a certain way about our argument then we might win them over.
He’s got a great playbook, the pages are just wrong.
