Based off the battles he was in, I it seems like Deviss cared a lot for clones rallying them and saving them. Although he was courageous and probably a smart thinker, he probably wouldn't have removed his inhibitor chip or disobeyed the order If given the chance. His loyalty was to the republic and his clones

He was alligned with the 617th attack battalion, which was lead by commander lin. He was specialized as a specialist (not the rank.). In training, he was top of his squad..(fino squad) which lead for him being a specialist. I know me lore boys.
Nothing in official media claims that he was ever maid a commander, and fake ranking wasn't a thing. Also, he was in the 327th Star Corps' Hawkbat Battalion and led K Company. He was not in the 617th. Hilarious joke though! xD
