    During the clone wars under Rex the 501st are shown to be heroic, but after Rex defects during order 66 and under Vader and Appo, the 501st were definitely evil.

      The Coruscant Guard basically created the playbook for the future Stormtrooper Corps. They were true at-home occupiers, famous for such missions as (checks notes) forcing people out of their homes at gunpoint when the Galactic government seized control of their properties to build military staging areas while offering them no monetary compensation, and (checks notes again) ah yes, violently suppressing peaceful protests against the forced evictions, and who could forget (checks notes one more time) acting as hit squads tasked with silencing whistleblowers at the behest of the Chancellor. What heroes.

    Personally, I think the 501st should at least be above the 41st and maybe even tied with 327th, sure later they started doing more nefarious things, but that's true for a lot of people during the Clone Wars since as the war kept dragging on and people were getting tired of it so they started making moral compromises to end things quicker so they could finally get peace, so we should take that into consideration, and before that moment they did a lot of good, they too helped Ryloth and deal with the Zygerrians, I'm at least certain the quarter of the 501st under Rex's command(since the 501st had four commanders) were just as morally good as the 212th at least but the other 3/4's which were most likely the ones that did the more nefarious stuff like Mygetto because there's no way Rex would be okay with deceiving Jedi, brings them down on the list a bit, but not into the evil category for me their neutral or just slightly evil.
    8:19-8:26: Well, I completely disagree with that. I for one think the 212th and probably the Wolf Pack were good Clone Units. There were many good people still fighting for the Republic, I would be one of them if I lived in the Star Wars universe, you can't blame them for whatever role they played in the rise of the Empire, especially if it was a small one like people who were just in tech support, or who just cleaned the bathrooms or something, you going to call them evil? Palpatine was a master manipulator he manipulated the good people on both sides into fighting and invitingly creating the Empire, but many of them were still good, did good during the war, and will always be heroes to me. I mean Palpatine was good at keeping people in the dark so they thought they were doing good, just look at the Death Star that was a massive project that required a lot of work, and many of the people who helped build it didn't know they were building a super weapon, many of them were independent contractors or companies that had been enlisted to help build one aspect of the weapon but were told it was for something different, like the anti-gravity stuff that kept it in orbit the people working on that were told it was going to be used to build floating cities for new land for people to live, or those that helped with the large power sources they were told that it would be used to give energy to those that need and help with good projects, are we really going to blame these people and call them evil. I mean there's a reason Palpatine and so many lied to them about what they were really building because they knew if people knew the truth they wouldn't willingly help, I mean just look at Galen Irso, when he found out what his research was really being used for he defected and left.

    You know, I’m basically fighting the urge by now to label Geetsly’s videos as clickbait, like how some people posted articles saying Sir Topham Hatt from Thomas & Friends was a cruel dictator to his engines, ignoring the obvious fact he’s keeping steam engines and diesels who don’t work as well in operation instead of scrapping them, especially since they keep getting into expensive crashes and accidents.
    To be fair to Geetsly, his info is from Legends which is clearly the darker of the two Star Wars timelines. As a Canon fan, I should respect that. Except Geetsly used to always say he combines Canon and Legends lore because he sees them as compatible. He doesn’t say that nowadays, but it seems like he’s still doing it. The thing is nowadays, the differences between Canon and Legends are bigger than previously. Of course that isn’t to say clones were probably squeaky clean in Canon. They started out as soldiers who followed orders without question and some clones stick with the Empire long after their brothers are phased out and the inhibitor chips have worn off. Still, I think there’s a clear difference between the personalities of Canon clones vs Legends clones. Check the TV Trooes character page on clone troopers. They point out these differences.
    Now yes, latest Canon media is further highlighting the corruption in the Republic and the motivations of non-corporate Separatists. But it’s honestly like Geetsly is intentionally ignoring the Canon narrative and acting like it’s still Legends. Heck, I wonder if he overplays the importance of the Separatist Senate and Separatist civilians. I seriously doubt they make up the morality core of the CIS. If anything, they just feel like a mask the CIS can use for propaganda as well as a source of money and resources. This is to an extent the same for the Republic of course. The Jedi Order, Clone Troopers, and several Senators are genuine in their intentions, but there were clearly greedy senators and military officers who used the Clone Wars to rise in power and be at the top of the Empire. Palpatine, Tarkin, and Krennic are clear examples.

      @@АлексейМомот-щ7о He used to do that for his earlier videos about 4 or 5 years ago. And he also does videos covering Canon events, though I think he examines them through a Legends lens. For instance, he considers Republic weaponry being misused and being very Sith-like. I can’t fairly say whether Geetsly has changed over the years or not, so somebody else should determine that. If the question was about Generation Tech, I could be more confident. He’s honestly more optimistic about the good guys, which is saying something given how he used to say the Republic and Jedi Order deserved their fall. And he’s become more critical than ever of the Galactic Empire, saying it was basically designed to fail and is worse than democracy’s worst flaws, which he does also point out. Tech still references Legends every now and then, but he honestly seems like the opposite of Geetsly nowadays.

    • @zexalbrony4799
      @zexalbrony4799 Год назад +2

      @@tristankawatsuma8962 I've kind of noticed that myself. I've been watching Geetsly videos for a long time now myself, and while I still like many of his videos and respect him greatly as one of my all-time favorite Star Wars RUclipsrs, but I too think he's been getting a lot more negative in recent years, especially in terms of his views on the Republic. I mean he is right, the Republic was very corrupted, but I do think he's exaggerating how bad things were, it was always going to become an Empire, there was a chance for things to turn out differently and better during the Clone Wars, but thanks Palpatine's manipulations and a few others like Tarkin, they ensured that only the worst possible outcome, aka the Empire forming, would occur.
      But nowadays Ggeetsly seems a lot more negative than he uses to be. I remember a video he made about 2 years ago maybe 3, where he talked about who were the good guys in the Clone Wars, at the end of the video he said that no side in the Clone Wars was good as they were all corrupt in one or another, which he was right there really was no true good side during the Clone Wars, but at the end of the video he also pointed how there were still good people on all sides fighting for good noble reasons even if the sides they choose were completely corrupt. Yet in this video, he seems to contradict that statement by saying at the end how no Clone Units were really good, even though I personally think there were good Clone units who were truly good and heroes like the 212th, the Wolf Pack, Torrent Company(the section of the 501st Rex led), and so on. Even the title of this video seems to be more negative and contradicting than it should be, as it's most evil to least evil, instead of evil to good, implying that there were no good Clones or Units even though there were and Geetsly himself as I said pointed out there were still good people on both sides even if the sides themselves were evil and corrupt.
      Whereas Generation Tech(I'm not as big a fan of his as Geetslys, but I've seen a fair few of his videos so I to think he's gotten more optimistic) is kind of becoming the new Geetsly with how much more optimistic and how he more often combines Canon and Legends. Heck, he even ends most of his videos nowadays by saying, "Well, thanks for watching. And remember, my allegiance is to the Republic to Democracy."
      So even he seems to be liking the Republic more nowadays, since despite what Geetsly has claimed before, the Republic and Empie are different from each other, even characters in-universe point that out:
      Echo: Galatic Empire? Where soldiers of the Republic.
      Rex: My loyalty was to the Republic, not you're Empire.
      The Republic was corrupted and flawed, but it was still better than the Empire because there was a decent amount of good Jjedi, Clones, and even Senators. But sadly by the end of the Clone Wars, all these good people were either dead, captured, decommissioned, or just on the run, leaving only the most evil and corrupt people with all the power and influence.

    I feel like anything done by the clones after Order 66 was enacted shouldn't necessarily count. It's like blaming people for what they did while being mind controlled. Plus the 501st under the name "Vader's Fist" were almost entirely human within 5 years of the Empire existing.
    Also, I get that the Republic was corrupt and that it later becomes the Empire but I don't agree that they were the villains during the Clone Wars. The C.I.S. had every right to succeed from the Republic, sure. But they were also being controlled by Sith who were enslaving planets, fire bombing civilian cities just to spite the Republic and using natives of outer world planets as test dummies for experimental weapons.

    I’m not sure where the sympathy for the separatists comes from. The seps were far more than a coalition of planets that wanted to leave the republic. They were a united military faction that represented the interests of super corporate governments who invaded worlds within the republic to pull them out of it and threaten its complete collapse. They were required to be this way by the sith plot in order to be sufficient enough a threat to provoke the emergency powers act. After all the Republic began the war on the back foot because the CIS went on the offensive immediately.

    Geetsly, when are you gonna do a video on the Jedi and the Jedi Order’s perspectives during the Clone Wars? With all the atrocities done by the Republic and the like, were they blindsided by Palpatine to keep them from intervening or leaving? You’re still leaving out a major factor. Is there a reason?

    Speaking of the Republic, since the Republic existed for more than thousands of years, how many awful things the Republic did before the Clones Wars and becoming the Empire? Well, the facts that the Republic committed ethnocide against the Sith and then the Mandalorians clearly showed that the Republic never turned into the Empire by Paplatine's declaration of New Order or the passing the Military Creation Act, it was always THE Empire.

    • @questionmaker5666
      @questionmaker5666 Год назад

      The Sith were a race themselves hell bend on oppressing the galaxy and irredeemably corrupted by the dark side, who themselves had committed several ethnocides. The Mandalorian ethnocide was during a period of fear in the immediate aftermath of the New Sith Wars. It is evil, but does not make an Empire, the two ethnocides took place thousands of years apart and during periods of great turmoil. The Jedi took no part in either ethnocide. Neither happened in Canon, only Legends.
