I have exactly the same problem on my gray R-27 just like yours. The problem occurred after I installed one of the latest Garmin updates just like you said. Thanks for the video. I will call Garmin support tomorrow to let them know I am experiencing the same problem.

We have the same problem with our 2024 R27. Currently doing the loop and have to work around it every travel day. Work around is simple as you detailed - but till gets annoying on long runs to get the low fuel alarm and Zero remaining when 20 NM from our destination. I’m calling Garmin Support as you suggested on Tuesday. Thanks for the video and info updates.
An updated was released today. I'll know tomorrow if it fixed the issue.

Ranger Tug 25 with NMEA has same issue with the same versions of Chartlplotter software.
The bug's been fixed in v36.0. I upgraded last week and noted it does resolve the issue.
