I'm working on prop sizing with the RT27-OB. A 5 blade Power Tech prop or a Sharrow Prop gets about the same fuel efficiency as the diesel inboard. It also depends on speed. The R27 diesel inboard cruise at 13knots, they mostly cruise at hull speed (around 7 knots). The RT27-OB cruises at 25 knots (WOT of 32 knots) and slow-boats at 7 knots. The outboards are more than twice as fast as the R27 inboards.
@@Letsgochannelsurfing thank you I will take a look at those. I did not know if you did your water pump or had somebody else to do it. I’ll take a look.

What % higher mileage do you think an inboard diesel R27 would do?

Do you do your own lower unit or is it not too expensive to have them do it?
I do my own routine maintenance on the Yamaha, which includes the lower unit. We’ve got a couple videos that illustrate working on the lower unit.
