  • Welcome back! I've been working on this over a month, but you know how things go sometimes! I took the Dr. Seuss blended top from the Paradise Fibers March subscription package, carded it into all different batts, and then used to it to spin some corespun art yarn that is autowrapped with silver thread. I'm actually thrilled with how it turned out even though art yarn is not my thing at all. I'll see you soon, and thanks! I love you! Bye!

Oh my gosh that is so incredible. I feel exactly how you described feeling about the original fiber, and that feeling is what holds me back from subscriptions. You have me seriously rethinking the Paradise box, because you turned "I would cry if I'd paid for that box and that fiber showed up at my door" into "I must have it, I wonder if anyone is destashing it on Ravelry....". So, so amazing.

I loved your blending experiment! Such amazing colours you got too. Like Tracy said, I would have never thought thr colours you got after blending would have come from the roving you started with! They really remind me of the rovings John Arbon (a spinning company in the UK) sells. I would have loved to spin each of those blends. Not sure I am a big fan of art yarns full stop, but I really loved seeing how you did it - and admiring your skill. It looked super hard juggling all those different components at the same time. Don't think I will be trying thaf anytime soon on my Turkish spindle... 😂

omigosh I think you just answered my question about whether to weave from the single. Dunno if you've seen my spin of the same on the group (WIP), but it's definitely not suitable for a ply. I wonder if core spun is my answer (because really hesitant to weave from singles). How on earth did you do the icy blue blend? They're all gorgeous, but that one - WOW how?

  • @danielleh5911

I LOVE the way the top turned out after you carded it! But know I have questions.
How do you decide on what to use for the core?
Would crochet thread work or is that too thin?
And other than weaving what kind of project would you use core-spun (and other art yarns) in?

I called Paradise and got a second box in March because I love the fiber so much. Now I think I’m going to blend them in a similar way, but a little less blended. One, maaaaybe two passes on the carder. And probably add sparkle. Because sparkle.
