And that is why I enjoy your channel. You are not so focused on the technical. I believe sometimes we take out the joy of creating when we become so focused on the technical aspects of fiber prep.

Luscious color! I love seeing the process from start to finish, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
Your advice about not letting our fear of doing something hold us back is spot on. Our fears keep us from being able to learn and succeed, and sometimes we really need that reminder, especially when trying new things with our fiber! Plus, the process of learning always includes failures with the successes. Sometimes I find that my failures also reveal new and creative ways of doing something! 😀

Yes for sure! I was raised on the farm with every kind of animal. We would help out my dad while he sheared the sheep and we would help wash A LOT of wool outdoors, prepare it to be carded into batts with a drum carder. Then my mom would use it to fill the simple quilts she made for our own personal family use. Especially the cold winters when occasionally the wood stove would go out or just couldn't keep the temperature up. So no dyeing or spinning.@@FiberLoveDiary

Even though I have done all this before, it is so good to see it over again. You are a master at your craft and I always come away with more knowledge when you're done than when I began watching. The slight variants of color make it so beautiful. I am spinning a gradient and will knit a shawl. I took 4 shades of pink roving and ran them through the carder. Then I laid them out in order light to dark. I took a sliver of color 1 and 2 and blended them to make a transition. I did that for the rest, too. I will chain ply to keep the colors in the gradient. I'm 3/4 done spinning. I'll be at this for a while. Enjoy the Sheep and Wool. So sorry I will be there after you leave. God bless you both!

Oh Trish, I really enjoyed this video!!! Gorgeous fleece & the colours you got from dying it are just fabulous!!!!! Wonderful to see the whole process from raw fleece to knitted swatch as each stage changes the appearance of the fibre & the colours so significantly. Love that I wasn’t left wondering what might be 🧐. Thank you so much!! Can’t wait to see what you make with it, I think the colour will really suit you 💕. Quick question; is there ever a danger of adding too much citric acid in the dying process? Was just wondering if it can damage the fibre at all or make it feel course or even make it brittle?
