I find watching you pack orders so calming. Thanks for including it. Thanks for sharing you blending knowledge with us. Your videos are always enjoyable.🙂
“It’s not life or death anymore” 😂 yes!! Thank you SO much for rearranging your filming/release schedule. This was so informative and helpful. Can’t wait for the Tour!
The color blend looks like the best day at the seashore. Your last message is so well-said. Not every technique is a favorite but they are all worth trying. Great tutorial.
Trish, what a helpful video! I just started spinning and dyeing this March. Haven’t tried blending yet. Seeing you use all these different hand tools side by side has really gotten my wheels turning! Trying to decide which ones to try to tackle first. 🤔
Crazy how pretty of a color that blended into isn't it? I've even unrolled it off the dowels when I took it off the board, then rolled it sideways like you did on the hand carders, then pulled that into a sliver type roving. I like dizzing it off the hand carders too the way you would off the combs. I hadn't had my board out for awhile but a wild hair to get out my bag of mill ends and blend some of it. I'll post in group soon.
I will hang with the lives and spin if not working at the time during tour de fleece..... I have a hackle/no combs yet and a blending board....thankyou for the tips
I am going to try 2 out of the 3 methods. This gave me some inspiration on 2 colors of fiber that I have. I don't have hackles, yet! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Awesome demonstration! I wondered what the difference would be using the different tools. I kinda like them all, but would probably choose the blending board. Good luck on the Tour~!
I’m working on my mitered square blanket. (Thanks to your inspiration) trying to finish up a spinning project. (I don’t know what I’m doing so I procrastinate). And I’m working in the garden big time.i love that green!!! Enjoy the sunshine.
Hi Trish, Thanks for this video. I learn so much from your channel. I’m new to the blending board so I would like to see you make batts and rolags using different textures maybe with locks
Beautiful colors making a beautiful blend. I would love to try that but at my age I am not going to add another skill - still trying to learn to spin on my Electric Eel.
I love watching your videos! My husband built a blending board for me and I can't wait to use it. Do you sell those 2 colors of Fiber? I didn't see them in your shop, but would love to try blending some myself.
Thank you Trish! Question about hackle blending... Would that be similar to the blending board on the lines of load, pull out\off, load again til blended? I've seen Paradise Fibers load a double row hackle then diz it off for a combed top roving making the multi-color strips instead of actual blending.
Thank you for this. I struggle a little with my blending board. I think I am doing too thick at a time. When I spin I get a lot of thick and thin spots.
Playing catch up! If I tried to comb or card in a stiff breeze, three stooges sound effects would have to be the audio over that footage. Lots of Curly!
Thank you for your video, for some reason I find them so much easier to watch than a few others. Yours seem to be my go-to on this new adventure of spinning, dyeing and prepping raw fibre. I have purchased a nano and washed my first fleece. I have come to the place where I release dog brushes are taking far too long and I need to buy hand carders. Could you please give advice when it comes to the TPI. If merino and angora (goat) is what I'm able to purchase where I live- which hand carder do you purchase 72tpi or 108tpi? small or standard-size carder to start with? Thank you for any advice
I would advise you to buy the biggest carder or handcards you can afford comfortably. 72 or 90 tpi are nice middle of the road numbers. Merino can be tricky in a drumcarder if it's very fine. But if you go slowly, it will help
I been combing teeswater fleeces for days I look like I drained 🐱 for living. I bought fleece she said it was a little felted It was bad I’m trying to save it It was cheap so I’m not complaining.
What a fun video. I have a drum carder, but sometimes I like to use the hand cards or blending board, because of that meditative quality you mentioned. What did you do to your ankle?! Is it yard work? You know that stuff is dangerous. 😆 I hope it heals quickly!
As a total newbie I have a question that may sound stupid. I have never tried spinning, and I'm not sure I would like it. But I'm pretty darn sure I would love blending colors, using any of these methods or any others! I love messing with colors etc. My worry is that if I had fun blending colors into cool rolags or something... then what? Even if I did spin it... then what? I totally dislike knitting. So I guess my question is: For someone who ONLY wants to do the parts shown in this video, is there a need in the community for this skill? Or is this everyone's favorite part and nobody would want to use someone else's blends? I would like to think my work could be part of something more than just sitting in a box after I enjoyed carding/blending it. I would have to sell it though, because I have to make back at least the cost of the fiber, or else I can't afford to keep doing it. Does this sound desirable or would I have a hard time fitting in?
The only answer is, it depends. It depends on your skill level, your skills in social media and desire to run a shop online or otherwise, take photos, get your items into a brick and mortar shop, etc.
Very fun to see the way colors change with the different preps. Dream well and be well! *hugs*
They all are beautiful! I feel that all things fiber are meditative! 💜🥰🥰
Mostly, but I have found that a lot of people expect that in the beginning and it's not always true during the learning part 🤣
That was very interesting! Love those colors together!
Thank you!
The color blend looks like the best day at the seashore.
Your last message is so well-said. Not every technique is a favorite but they are all worth trying.
Great tutorial.
Thanks, Chris!
Your fiber prep videos are my favourite. Always so informative and empowering. Thank you.
That's a huge compliment. Thank you ❤️
Thank you Trish! I'm off to play with my blending board.
Each of those options look like they would be fun to spin. I agree, do which ever preparation you enjoy the most. Blessings.
I had fun spinning them all!
I absolutely love your videos Trish!!
Thanks for sharing!!
I am Spinning on my New Matchless Spinning Wheel!! Woo-hoo!!😉
Third! And delighted by this video
Trish, what a helpful video! I just started spinning and dyeing this March. Haven’t tried blending yet. Seeing you use all these different hand tools side by side has really gotten my wheels turning! Trying to decide which ones to try to tackle first. 🤔
That combo is going to be beautiful yarn. Great info on hand blending!
I love blending boards ❤
You can do so much with them!
Thanks, Trish. Always good to know because the hand tools are portable. Blessings.

Yay! Looking forward to seeing it
Thanks for sharing this! It’s been awhile since I played with cards and combs, will need to pull them out.
Me too actually. I forgot how much I like it.
Beautiful 😍 that teal-y blended color is gorgeous
Such an interesting video! Thank you for the comparisons!
Always love your videos! I’m prepping fiber still for TDF and today I’m combing Finn fiber into nests.
Great video. Thanks for showing the different ways to blend. You are inspiring!
Aww thank you! 🥰🥰
Thank you for showing different ways to blend. So helpful.
Thank you Trish soooo much! I can’t wait to try! I still need to make some purchase of tools and love To learn about them first!
Go for it!
Lovely colours
I will hang with the lives and spin if not working at the time during tour de fleece.....

Go for it!
This was super helpful, thank you for showing the process and results of the different options!
I love that sage green/celery color wool. Looks great with the blue and the batts.
I was surprised how much I loved the colors blended
I love the way the combs combined the colours 😍. Now I feel the need to bust out my blending board lol
I love the way the colors combined. This video was super helpful!
Love how the comb blended 😍
Thank you for the very clear demonstration of three ways to blend, I think I like how the blending board turned out best. 👍👍👍
Thanks Trish!
Watching it now, when I have tried out the hand carders it makes sense. Thanks for sharing.
So glad it helped!
Awesome demonstration! I wondered what the difference would be using the different tools. I kinda like them all, but would probably choose the blending board. Good luck on the Tour~!
They all get the job done!
I'm very late to the party, but this was exceeding helpful for me! Glad I found it!
Super pretty. My husband bought a blending hackle and a comb. Can’t wait to try them out. First things first tho, washing cormo for TDF
Oooo, I might be a little jealous!
I’m working on my mitered square blanket. (Thanks to your inspiration) trying to finish up a spinning project. (I don’t know what I’m doing so I procrastinate). And I’m working in the garden big time.i love that green!!! Enjoy the sunshine.
We are having such beautiful weather lately. I'm trying to soak it all up!
All 3 preps turned out so pretty. I will be doing all of mine on my blending board unless the combs I ordered show up. The count down is on 🤣🤣
Got questions fellow Canadian Here. We're do get your goods from if you don't mind me asking?
Fingers crossed!
Love your videos Trish! I definitely want to get some combs and carders.
Cool stuff. I have all three tools as well, and enjoy using them from time to time. I really need to get back to it soon. Thanks for the demo.
Hope you feel motivated!
I'm gonna be gone the first few day of tour de fleece, sad I'm gonna miss some lives
You truly bring sooo much joy to my day!
Another fantastic demonstration and explanation!!!!! I am for sure give some of that a try!! Thanks!
I like to spin from rolags too and I take mine off the comb with my hands.
I’ve been knitting socks🧦🔥
I'm so excited for this year's tour. Joined your group and will be challenging myself. Love all your videos! Appreciate uou.!
Yay! I'm still trying to knock out my greige blend to clear off my Hansen!
Lovely and informative! Thank you!!
Thanks!
Hi Trish, Thanks for this video. I learn so much from your channel. I’m new to the blending board so I would like to see you make batts and rolags using different textures maybe with locks
I don't really like spinning locks, so it probably won't happen anytime soon, but you never know!
that color is pretty. thank you for all the useful info
I really liked the color too!
Thank you!!!
❤️
I’m not sure which one I like the best, they are each unique. I’ll be adding hand carders to my toolbox this fall.
That's great!
Love this video. Just starting to blend on my board. Thank you.
Great job. Thank you 🧶💙
Haha at your opener today!! I'm preparing for tour de fleece
Beautiful colors making a beautiful blend. I would love to try that but at my age I am not going to add another skill - still trying to learn to spin on my Electric Eel.
Learning to spin is enough!
I love watching your videos! My husband built a blending board for me and I can't wait to use it. Do you sell those 2 colors of Fiber? I didn't see them in your shop, but would love to try blending some myself.
I can’t believe how beautifully those colors blended! I don’t think I would have put them together. Does that skill come with practice?
I have 2 hand cards. I’ll give it a try.
That was very helpful, thank you.
I am lucky enough to have a drum carder but I still would like some of those combs. Does anyone know if they are still trading?
Thank you Trish! Question about hackle blending... Would that be similar to the blending board on the lines of load, pull out\off, load again til blended? I've seen Paradise Fibers load a double row hackle then diz it off for a combed top roving making the multi-color strips instead of actual blending.
You can use a hackle that way, or you can come off it like I did to blend further
Thank you for this. I struggle a little with my blending board. I think I am doing too thick at a time. When I spin I get a lot of thick and thin spots.
You had some great ideas! I tried to join your Facebook group, but my phone wouldn’t let me answer the questions.
Where do you buy wool from by bulk like that? Wow
Gorgeous work!!
Playing catch up! If I tried to comb or card in a stiff breeze, three stooges sound effects would have to be the audio over that footage. Lots of Curly!

I've saved a few in my life. I hope it turns out well!
What sort of scale are you using to weigh with? TY
What a fun video. I have a drum carder, but sometimes I like to use the hand cards or blending board, because of that meditative quality you mentioned.
What did you do to your ankle?! Is it yard work? You know that stuff is dangerous. 😆 I hope it heals quickly!
Nothing. I have a really old injury that aches sometimes and compression helps. Old bones 🤣🤣
I need your t shirt. Where did you get it? It's so cute.
madderroot.com/collections/shirts have fun!
I love combing, never really liked hand carders.
I didn't until I started using them for down wools. Then I fell in love!
