I bet when they climbed in they all sat in their old spots without even thinking about it.
LunkovichTromofski It’s mind blowing!!
Good call ✌
I will not take that bet but spot on, spot on!!!! They looked so happy!!!
Steven knew where he stashed his drugs lol
GOLD!!
The best part of this video is Steven hearing the door close, and his reaction to it.
👍
It's a cool sound. Could use it as a sample for a song.
Memories started to comeback
I think all of us have had those sensory inputs that surprisingly, and unexpectedly, trigger memories. Hopefully for better than worse.
Little nostalgia things like that takes people back

History isn't just about the distant past...this is living history. That van, in some small infinitesimal way, changed the shape of our culture. Awesome to see Aerosmith have it back.
So true.
I saw this van parked outside of the Cricket Lounge, in Ashland, Massachusetts, at an Aerosmith club show in the early 70's. There were maybe 20 to 30 people there! Just about the same month my wife saw it at a free Areosmith concert in Franklin Park, Boston. She and her best friend sat on the edge of the stage, with just a few other people wandering by that afternoon.
Baby Safe Haven wow! Thanks for sharing rock on man!
That is so cool, I wish I could've been there!
I made love to Liv in that van
I am jealous
Great story dude. Thank you for sharing.
"We're putting the van back together!"
mud027 that’s funny. 😂
Kinda an inside joke.
We’re on a mission from God.
Phineas and Ferb
This van really puts on display that even the big bands had to pay their dues and sacrifice a lot all in the name of their art and talent. To quote another band, "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock n roll," is a very true statement.
mindeloman oh yes it is buddy
Gettin' robbed
Gettin' stoned
Gettin' beat up
Broken-boned
Gettin' had
Gettin' took
I tell you, folks
It's harder than it looks
Especially if you play bagpipes.
@@jjryan1352 don't forget the bagpipe solo
@@ligmaballs2022 never! I play it on harmonica with a rotary effect. 😁
Oh wow. Aerosmith's 1997 autobiography"Walk this Way" dedicates a whole chapter about this van. Great. Read.
I'm gonna have to re-read it. I have this book.
Great book, Joe's is also. Amazing that the original Aerosmith is still (not only alive but) together
Rob Karp thank you! I’ll check it out👍
Rich Moore you'll love it!
Surprised that my local library had 7 copies of Steven's book. Reading it now.
What a great ending to an EPIC find! You could tell the band mates were transported back in time looking at and talking about the van and their humble beginning. Lots of memories rushing through their minds. PRICELESS!!!
I noticed that too. You can see it in their expressions. They're all carried back in time and wow! The stories those guys could tell.
The absolute best American pickers episode ever and I think this is one of the best stories I'll ever be on the show
I also think the buried Indian
Well that and when they found Leif Garrets comb.
@@wileecoyote5749 ...and when they brought him back to life was awesome.
+1
Man I have to agree with you 100% for sure!
Chris Farley " I'm gonna live in Aerosmith's van down by the river"
When your living in a van down by the river
WHERE DID CHRIS HEAR ABOUT THE VAN, BACK IN THE DAY?
Oh my 😢 Rip Chris! Miss you dearly 💕
I was thinking of Chris while watching this lol
I did.San Diego river
I don't care who you are or where you are from... That is just fkn cool!!!
I couldn't stop smiling watching this. You could just sense that, as they sat in the van, the memories of all these old guys were transporting them back magically to that earlier time.
Yup .. that’s the van I remember seeing it in Brighton , Ma when I was a kid. That’s too cool.
Loved hearing Steven say “they were lucky .” That means SOOOOOOOO much to a guy like me who didn’t get to “live the dream “ but does still get do what we all love...
I’ve spent nearly 40 years in the business. Always behind the board when I was younger.
And now on the stage after I retired from pro touring.
It’s been a great life I’ve worked with many great performers. (Never these guys 😔)
And I don’t regret a single moment !!!!
Thanks Steven ,sometimes we all need a reminder , that just because we didn’t get rich and famous it doesn’t mean we didn’t touch the hearts and souls of others.
😎🎸🎶✌️🤟
@Diamond Lou Great thoughts. I, too, have been earning a living for the last 40 years in the "biz" performing and, although I never snagged that "brass ring", like you, I am blessed to still have people enjoying my shows and paying me at the end of the night. Not an easy business but a great one, for sure. I'm 58 and will be on stage a total of 19 hours in the next 4 days. I still love it!
Ron Devon rock and roll brother.
😎🎶🎸✌️🙏
I know Pete “King Kong Beat” De Poe, Redbone’s original drummer, and he told me how there were guys that were better than him, but Lady Luck didn’t grace their presence. It’s that simple. But he also told me that you have to be ready (Practice!) whenever, if ever, she arrives, or you blow your only opportunity. (BYW: Pete’s book, “King Kong Pete” is available at Amazon.)
Awesome , you could see it really brought back the memories of their early years.
It is just meant to be.. how many legendary bands are able to reunite with their roots.. the van that helped bring the young aspiring musicians to their gigs during their initial campaign for greatness.. Thanks Mike and Frank for preserving history.. I really hope that the van is placed in Rock n Roll hall of fame museum.. as it is iconic piece that not every band gets to reminisce.
Joe Perry: "...a couple more years and it would have been pahht of the forest." Still got that Boston accent.
That's were he lives.
@@cashonlyj3469 yep
What a cool ending. Like the van knew it would meet up with them someday. It could have been scrapped but didn't. Awesome! 👍
You could see their eyes welling.. The stories told and untold that they could reminisce if worth a movie!
Great job! Growing up, in Massachusetts, Aerosmith was such a big part of my childhood. The song “No more No more” was playing in my head, while watching this:
Baby I'm a dreamer
Found my horse and carriage
Nice I grew up in fall river mass. an thay played a free concert in North park fall river I was like 10 thay played back in the saddle an all the old school jams
@Mark Cianfarani seen them 3 times Foxboro an Rhode island bad boys of Boston
I wonder if they set Mark up for life monetarily since he's the true hero here. If it wasn't for all his hard work Aerosmith never would have made it this far at all.
listening to Aerosmith while watching this video brings tears to this old rockers eyes. Thank you American Pickers for keeping our history alive and in the hands of people who believe in it.
Those two hound dogs finally found the golden bone. Great job guys.
What a great story. Not gonna lie, it brought a tear to my eyes.
This van screams "Good evening people welcome to the show, got something here I want you all to know........"
Amen too that!!!!!
Checking the sound of the door was fckn awsome😍
I was waiting for a Blues Brother's reference. "We're puttin' the van back together again."
Jake:
If you say no, Elwood and I will come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... every day of the week...
Mr. Fabulous:
Okay, okay. You got me. I'll put the van back together.
Just to imagine that Steven and Joe met each other at Lake Sunapee in NH soo many years ago, ended up forming one of the most famous rock bands ever, And the entire band is still together???? That's amazing. And then to be reunited with a very important part of their musical history is even more incredible. The look on all of their faces was priceless.
I grew up listening to Aerosmith with my dad. Joe Perry has always been one of my biggest guitar influences.
They got the van back together
explosivo262 yes!
I thought exactly the same when I was watching! good stuff
"Dream On" is the greatest
Was waiting to see this episode! Mike and Frank and Danielle hit it out of the park with this treasure! Like a time capsule being opened up! Awesome! They should take it on tour with them and park it up on stage! 👍😎🇺🇸
This is legendary. Unbelievable if I did not see this. I do not think we all realize the level of cool this truly is.
It's so cool that Steven Tylers grandmother still gets out and about.
My favorite band for over 40 years!
I've been listening to Aerosmith for years, and this is the first time I've ever heard Joey speak. Lol.
You know what, coach. I gotta get going. Me and my "loser" friends, you know, we gotta get Aerosmith tickets. Top priority of the summer!
Brad Pittiful dazed and confused
Dude! That user name! I bow down to you and will build pyramids in your honor.
i agree... josiah whisman is a cool username!
It was Kiss tickets...
@@colinsmith9208 nope it was Aerosmith tix.
These are the same five guys who appeared on their debut album way back in 1973!
1 thing I respect about them is they don't change line up much except for Jimmy Crespo. What a brotherhood...
Only legends carry harmonicas on them
MorbidManMusic there’s always one
Oh ya then how come no legendary pokemon play the harmminiam
Jon Greenleaf lol
Jon Greenleaf we’ll have to ask Nintendo about that and show this video as evidence we need to make Steven Tyler a Pokémon
Was anyone else getting choked up here?
Any musician who’s ever road dogged can relate to this. And I really loved how they all climbed in like it was 2am after a gig and they sat down in their spots as if to go to the next show. Of course there would have been guitars, drums, amps, PA and lights stuffed in there too.
This is fabulous I am really happy for all involved. I am in Australia I got to see Aerosmith live when they released " pump" had Joe playing that guitar right in front of me Steve and the band were awesome.
WOW! What a great story!!! Hats off to everyone involed with the restoration! A beautiful piece of art!
Danielle's idea of what a rock groupie's maternity dress looks like.
Guess you could say the van experienced “seasons of wither” and American Pickers brought it back to life.
Oh I love American Pickers! This episode will go down in history....NOT just history channel! 😘😎
Just goes to show money can't buy everything, these guy seem so excited about this old van ND it's memories
Still amazed that after all these guys went through, they still all together
Steven is just a cool guy, not afraid to unmask his shortcomings, willing to admit he has issues with dependency, and willing to talk about struggles to help others. A Great American.
Trick's on the devil. Turns out the soul is only worth a few bucks - but the fame, girls, cars, mansions, world travel, island vacations, drugs and cash? Can't put a price on that experience. They lived. Those waiting for their streets of gold in the afterlife won't even know they wasted their lives because they will be nothing but dust just like everyone else.
Don't believe me... just listen to your own rock stars like Kenneth Copeland and Jesse Duplantis - they love those private jets and mansions here on earth don't they?
Very cool you can tell it was pulling at their hearts and their memories of their younger days ...
Toxic Twins.... keeps on a rollin
Surprisingly touching... And an amazing job on the restore, 'cause that thing was only holding together out of habit...
Wow! Aerosmith in "American Pickers! That's so cool 😎🎸
That's good stuff love Aerosmith
How much do you love Aerosmith?
What's up Taco! Subscriber to your channel. I take it you love American Pickers also lol. Maybe I will see you picking someday in PA ✌
.
I love that Steven checks the roof of the van for any drugs he mightve left behind XD
I remember the episode where they found it but had no idea this happened. Incredible!!
Robert Wagner they stretched an entire season into what happens with the van
Stephen Tyler of course has to hold the women ha ha Haha. That's awesome.
Love to see these kinds of things happen to legendary bands like Aerosmith! They were one of the kings of hard rock back in the day! 'Rocks' and 'Toys In The Attic' were on every cool kid's turntable in the 70's...
Steven almost by default with his arm around a female lol.
And Danielle friggen loved it! So cool.
Lol he’s probably got socks older then her
Cool story and restoration job, American Pickers. Intriguing how certainly things in life come back full circle.
Once Dani got her arm around Steve, she didn’t want to let go! Lol
Neither would I.
That was my favorite part of restoring cars. When they first see it and you watch their faces light up. Makes all those days you spent on it worth it.
Everything that you leave or valued in the past is magnificent history now.
I remember that episode. It was such an awesome moment when it was found in those woods!! 😁💜
I think Danielle is going to get lucky with Steven Tyler or the other way around LOL LOL
Jose Arriola exactly right
I thought the same thing
You KNOW she was gushing to meat him.
Steven Tyler wouldn't stoop that low.
@@EdsterIII "Meat"...I get it...
She's gonna go "picking" for his "Big 10 Inch Record"!
Love Aerosmith. I live less than 5 miles from Steven Tyler (Tallarico's) home on Lake Sunapee, NH. Nicest man and family ever. My Brother literally lives 4 houses away from him. Steve and his father were regulars for years in a business I worked in the late 90's - early 00's.
Tell us more please.
@@badbackshop What more would you like to know? He's just a neighbor to us here in Lake Sunapee. Nobody begs him for autographs, he can eat in peace, invites fans to sit with him, etc. We have an aerosmith gallery just an 1/8 mile from his home here in the Sunapee Harbor as well directly across from "The Anchorage" where he met Joe Perry many years ago.
I love watching American Pickers and seeing them discover the Aerosmith van. Great video Thank you History Channel.
Great to be part of this moment well done all involved
This is one of my favorite reality TV shows on History Channel and i like "The Curse of Oak island" too and i hope History channel can bring back "American Restoration" it was a great show too.
I love this I remember watching the episode when they found it! What an amazing ending!!!
I would’ve been like…”It’s amazing! In the blink of an eye, we finally found the ride!!!!” 😂
THE Greatest American Band of all Time. Dream on brothers!

What a great story. I remember watching the episode when you found it and to see it as it is now and the look on their faces when they laid eyes on it after so many years was priceless.
So cool! Best episode so far.
Very, very cool man, nothing like truly getting back to your roots.
I love those guys.
And boom! Danielle and Steven are holding each other. Steven is so lucky
@Nick Ulm I'm sure there was some snugglin goin on there
The GREATEST Band of all time Thank you Aerosmith for over 50 years of great music & all the memories Looking so forward to seeing you all again in the future
Pretty Cool, you can really see how genuine there reactions are, it's a, really special thing for them
AMAZING BAND AMAZING STORY.
Great job you guys for buying it great job for the guys who fixed it up now it's in Aerosmith's hands awesome priceless
I remember seeing this van in the parking lot of my high school when Aerosmith played a concert in '72 there.
This was a cool piece of history! Also, it wasn’t luck that they stuck together. They’re friends that stayed true.
Shortly after this they fired Joey Kramer.
One of my life long favorite band’s Aerosmith Great music
Anyone else think Steven Tyler looks like he should have been a cartoon character??? He's my hero
So awesome man. I remember watching the episode when you guys found this van.
Danni Diesel she's one that's not going to get old, she just keeps looking better
For some reason, when you see people reminisce about the good old days, you kinda feel good like you were a part of it :)
My first concert I ever went to Aerosmith Hampton Coliseum VA. their first album tour IT WAS AWESOME!!!
Wow that van blew me away. Brought back wild party times. 1970 I bought a 1950 Chevy panel truck play wagon on wheels. I always had my electric guitar with me to jam out when I could.
Hope the team that did the work got to meet the band
In a van down by the the river !

Love this story!!!!!!!
Aerosmith fan or not, this is an amazingly cool Rock N Roll story. Glad to see the van renewed to its former glory and back to its rightful owners. I'd love to hear the story of how they parted ways with it originally.
I'd be glad to expound on the events (as I recall them) of February 1972 and how it came to pass that we went our separate ways; I, with my van, moving to the woodsy hinterlands with my soon-to-be wife (both of us quite fed up with city life, we lived in the van the whole summer of '72 while looking for a place we could afford to rent) and "the Boys" lucked-out, met the right people, and began moving on into their lives of fame and fortune.
You'd need to keep in mind, however, that as Dr. Leary opined, if you (clearly) remember those days, you weren't there - so details, other than the basics, could be a tiny bit hazy.
Dude! We’re getting the van back together 🤘🏻🤘🏻
