Exactly! They can shake their heads at Chumlee all they want but he was the winner here 😂 He is too innocent for this "shark business" mentality, so God just hands him over the Dylan autograph and let's him keep it 😂
I can personally say how AWESOME Stan Lee was to meet in person. I met him at the soft opening of Universals Islands of Adventure(1999). He was actually the first person I seen when We walked in. He seen me but could not talk as he was late to another interview. But when he seen me again he was late again but he told his handler he was Giving me an autograph. I'm a huge Def Leppard fan, they were my first favorite band. If Joe Elliot and Phil Collin walked in like they did I'd have fallen on the ground. Then I'd have honestly confessed to Joe that I began crushing over him at about 7-8 years old. That was so cool!!
The girl with the Phil Collen guitar should've stuck to her $10,000 asking price. Rick could upsell it for $13K. Now that he got it for $8.5, he could still sell it for $13K.
People are funny when it comes to pawning/selling stuff at a pawn shop. Pawn shops are for when you want quick money at below the typical value...usually at 25%-75%. I mean, it's pretty basic. They buy low (quickly) and sell high. Saying "I've seen it online for 100 bucks!" just confirms why I'm gonna offer you 50 bucks for it! Are people now so impossibly self-centered they can't even imagine (for their OWN interests) if they were giving cash for a resale....and gave face value each time...how'd they pay their bills or even exsist?
"I gotta make some money" in reference to the Def Leppard guitar. Then tries to sell a Mark Twain piece for $20k that he bought for $8.5k. What a thief.
Funny.....There was a few years where that "Robert" fellow (Robert Sweet, drummer of Stryper) was more famous than Dennis. He has sold more than 10 million Albums. Multiple #1's on MTV .
"Rick clarifies that no one will want to purchase an album when it is signed to 'Chumlee.'" ... except that now this is THAT album that was signed to Chum Lee. And was showcased as the McGuffin on that episode of the tv show Pawn Stars. Which now makes it a 1 of 1 collectible from the Pawn Stars tv show. Which now makes it valuable as its own tv culture collectible. Giving it value far beyond just a copy of that album with the artist's generic signature. It even has visual video authentication to corroborate the item is genuine. Any time an item is personalized, made unique, and made into a key prop in popular entertainment, it takes on new value. The more that item is given focus and context and attention, the more that item is infused with meaning and value. Even having it in this video, even this comments, augments its value (albeit incrementally and relative). Any time this item is further given specific attention, it will impact that value.
This one was painful...I sold my MTG Beta set for $8000 in 2000. I had 4 of all if the dual lands and desirable rares, uncommons and commons plus the power nine and 2 additional BL's. I would literally need a Lawyer, accountant and armed protection detail to sell it if I still had it.
Dylan signing the album To Chumley creates a cool story which always makes item more collectible. I think items that were once owned by the pawn shop probably have a somewhat higher value due to the show.
I don't think the Chumster did know he was going to sign it to him, just because he asked his name, also, the Chumster would have looked foolish and also it would have looked like it was for resale purposes to Chumster to say anything about how it was signed, Bob just says . . . . .sure what's your name fatty ? He says Chumlee, Bob says Chumlee ? like Tennessee Tuxedo's sidekick Chumlee?
Steve Carell might be the most down to earth actor we've ever seen. Everything is kind of a joke to him, yet he's been married to same woman for almost 30 years and his kids are just as happy as he is.
