@@pukeminister705 3 flats have already been purchased by the park this has been confirmed already although we’re most likely not going to see them until 2025 (potentially) Huss confirmed they’d had meetings with Towers at the last IAAPA and had been on park. Exciting times 😊

On a cheerier note, love to see your interest in Flat Rides! I have seen MANY of your videos over the years and I think you had more fun at 2023 Goose Fair and Hull Fair than at just about any other parks you have visited. I have watched those vids over and over again.
When I am feeling deflated by all the horrible things going on in the world I watch Goose or Hull Fair and feel better again. I also watch your cruise with the Lady Charlotta on the Mardi Gras ship. Those vids also make me feel better.
So, keep the flat rides coming and go on a cruise in 2024!

Youve hit a very prominent nail on the head here! These rides could tie area themes and rides together and really rejuvenate the parks areas. Please alton.. you got this! This is a prime opportunity to rev the park up realtively inexpensively comapared to major coasters!

Oh Yes! A "Deep Forest" at mid-day! Shawn hits "imagine this" button and we start seeing center supported layers of shade fabric above the area. I could hear the change in the way sounds would be dampened as they naturally are in those mossy overgrown mysterious places. Then, at the side you see an opening, it gets larger as you approach, lights, movement, and yes, screams attract you. Then you get strapped in and taken for a "RIDE". Shawn, you are painting a world class piece of art; at least in my brain. Love you.

Great video shawn. I hope this does happen at Alton towers. Also, on Saturday this weekend, you should do a massive theme park RUclipsr meet-up In blackpool. If you do do that, I’d obviously like to see you and also parkspill, digital Dan, thrill riders and Jack silkstone. But not lift hills and thrills. Send him to a farm instead.

Fantastic video not just Alton Towers. It’s a lot of amusement park that will get rid of flats and replace them. But will really quickly to add a multi million dollar coaster. Its seems like parks near invest into flats any more. Bush Gardens, Cedar Point is definitely famous for this.
You have made a very good selection, and they would be a great addition to Alton Towers. Flat and dark rides are so important for a park. We like Thorpe Park because of its flat rides; it breaks the day up when riding their roller coast, and we like Pleasure Beach because of their flat and dark rides (or afternoon rides, as we call them). It makes perfect sense to use Huss as a single supplier.
I really think the rumours of a Ripsaw return would be incredible - whenever I walk past this space I always hope and feel that a return would not only work but be very welcome. This ride has left a huge hole that nothing that has been there since has filled as well. I was thinking that a Talocan copy would work really well. Bring on the flats!!!

Really like these ideas, imagining a freshen up to all of those areas as well, new paint and cleaning, it could look amazing
I completely agree about the Break Dance 5 and Magic 2G. There's also something called a Spinning Cruiser, which looks interesting. Apart from the Magic and Break Dance, I'd put an Octopus or Polyp in Mutiny Bay, actually themed to an octopus. Also in Mutiny Bay, I'd install Zierer Flying Gondolas, with sharks instead of elephants.

Looking ahead is interesting all brilliant ideas, would be great to have an indoor Break Dance & Magic, I'd love to see a proper intemin giroswing like Loki at Liseberg but would have to dig down a bit to keep under treeline. My only worry is with flats like Break Dance won't be ran as well as the travelling type. Towers could also do a 3 ride deal with Zamperla, get a nebula, endeavour & disco.
I designed my own flat ride in 3Ds max and named it tornado strike, I wonder if any park would ever think about adding it.
Would be nice to see a Huss topspin or maybe a giant gyroswing. The only problem is a gyroswing would be massive so they’d have to dig down which would cost them a lot of money. Anything’s possible with Alton though so we could see one.
I'd love to see a Ripsaw's Revenge. A secret code-name for a potential weapon that's been unveiled in the hopes to tame and restrain the beast that is Nemesis

Interesting selection, think the two in X Sector would be epic placed in, think also Ripsaw 2.0 would be quite good addition? But that one for Dark Forrest would be even more epic, don't think a new coaster should be built in spots of Enterprise aswell other flat that was there, have thought about it, might aswell just call it the Kingdom of coasters if that was the case, don't think that should happen. Need x2 flat rides 100% in there, think both a thrill one and family be good additions in there. Good ideas you have suggested, but guess will see what they add in future? I love 💕 the concept art theming package for these 4 rides, although I’ve never ever actually been to Alton Towers however I can somehow visualise these rides in their new permanent locations these look amazing most definately going to increase the tourists riding experiences can’t wait to see what these riders enthusiasts opinions views would be like 👍 great vlog as always Thank you for sharing

I love these ideas i would probably go for a park model Tivoli extreme to go in enterprises spot but love how the twin hammer slightly pays homage to towers torture device submission with that kind of motion
I have no idea what could be coming and really id be happy with any flats but isnt it great and exciting that we can actually have a conversation about the possibilities of what could be coming.
good ideas I hope someone at Alton towers is watching and taking notes. The ripsaw ride could fit well in the forbidden zone, maybe change the water squirters to giant tentacles to make it look like the monster is coming out of the ground. That last ride could also fit nicely by the curse of Alton manor if they could find the space for it.

Ive honestly thought for years that Alton Towers needs to really lean into its zones theming more...everything that goes in forbidden valley should have some corrupting influence of Nemesis and Phalanx trying to contain it...x-sector needs to connect its theming as the secretive creepy corporation using the rides to psycologically test its riders...dark forest should show more signs of overgrowth as the chained oak and its wraith try to reclaim more of the park...Alton Towers has always leaned into more darker theming they just need to lean into and link it more...
They could fit a ride like ripsaw and theme it to a phalanx trap or phalanx creation sort of thing would work so well
A new Huss top spin in Forbidden Valley would be unbelievable. I also think a Zamperla Nebulaz themed to the Ministry of Joy with a marmalizer like appearance would fit so well in X-Sector on the old Enterprise site. And then a Huss Magic as an indoor full experience family flat in the Dark Forest. Would make 3 brilliant additions.
I personally think that a Zamperla Nebulaz would be great to look at, but loading times would be ridiculous as in load one half of the ride then rotate it/bring back down to load the other half...

Could you squeeze the Huss Magic in Gloomy Wood? That area could really do supporting ride. And well done for not going for a predictable Nebulaz - look great but have capacity issues and terrible loading times.
I was going to suggest a Zamperla… I’ve forgotten the name of it… but a ride like Loki to fit in with a marmaliser (sorry if I spelled that wrong) theme. Also, if Towers weren’t willing to do a full in depth theme in Dark Forest, they could add an SBF Visa drop tower like Magma at Paultons Park. They could have the top disguised as a tree.
My logic on the potential for a flat on the rip-saw site. They have put planning permission to extend the rip-saw cafe towards the rollercoaster restaurant instead of the rip-saw flat plot, even though the flat plot would be ideal building space because its already level and it would get rid of a blank area. This makes me think that they are bringing a flat to this area. And If they are, what better flat to add then rip-saw!

If they can afford to do all these, go for it I say. You have already themed these rides and explained capacity. Changes are needed after the retro squad so bad. Queues and availability are shocking even with them.

Ive always thought that Altons towers flat rides felt temporary. They just sat in the block paving with no real theming off the ride itself.
I really hope they do better going fowards.
What ever they do in forbidden valley has to revolve around the aliens theme. And Air needs a retheme too. Galactica could have worked if they changed the appearance of it, and made it about chasing the Phallanx to earth
A Zamperla NebulaZ would fit nicely where the Enterprise used to be - A nice family ride that looks good and could be themed the fit the area theme.

I would hate a topspin! I first went on ripsaw when I was about 9 with my grandad who was in his 70’s and I hated it! I use Charlotte as a measure; if it’s too intense for Charlotte it’s definitely too intense for me!

For me I’d say forbidden valley: zierer suspended magic carpet, x sector: s&s maxi 360 & SBF visa jumper and dark forest: Huss breakdance

That break dance rode shawn I can remember one like that at alton towers when i was a kid it was called astro dance or astro dancer at first itvwas situated in X sector then in forbidden valley next to where the arcades and sub terra is

Brilliant ideas Shawn. We tend to visit bpb rather than Alton Towers because of the variety of rides. I feel Alton Towers cater for the very young or thrill riders and hardly anything in between.

Id say towers opens a new huss top spin in place of ripsaw. Zamperla offers a similar style ride to an enterprise which i think would be really cool in x sector as a spiritual successor to enterprise. Maybe a new mondial top scan in x sector. It literally would fit so well themed to the smiler

Really hope we get another flat ride opening in the new project horizon area - would love to see a Zamperla Gryphon as it would be unique to the UK and looks like a really fun family-thrill experience which is sort of a modern mix between enterprise and mixtape

I totally agree with these, alton towers need more flats but tbh they really need to look over all there attractions for example the rollercoater restaurant was a great guest food area but now it's so bad, they advertise steaks, pasta, ribs ect on there wall art but when I went in September all they had on the menu was burgers and the burgers was not even nice, it's ashame really as this is a big thing that can attract so many people. And honestly I think the height restriction for cbeebies land is bad considering chessington have so many rides for little ones.
The Huss Magic idea would be amazing, and if AT played their cards right, they could use that ride to build the lore on Rita’s eventual replacement - maybe the fabled cross-valley coaster that all the forums speculated all those years ago?
(My take on the story, which ties in Dark Forest and Hex - you are a team of paranormal investigators responding to sightings of the mysterious girl (who we know from the TV ad) roaming the woods counting to thirteen and is said to be continuously tortured by the tree branches - it comes to light that in life she was the daughter of the 16th Earl of Shrewsbury, Lady Gwendoline Talbot, who died under “mysterious circumstances” at the age of 22 in 1840 - let’s say that she had a bit of an obsession in her family’s dealings in legend of the Chained Oak, and Gwendoline’s naive meddling somehow expanded the reach of its curse into the surrounding forest… As you are investigating, you uncover a second crypt and now under the Dark Forest’s control, Lady Gwendoline is drawing you in - it’s decided that a seance is set up in this crypt, but inevitably it goes horribly wrong and as you are levitated and spun with force around the room, you open a portal that unleashes a greater evil, an evil that would make the Nemesis creature shiver, a Nightmare that will change Alton Towers forever…) - don’t @ me John Burton! 😉

The Dark Forest laid undisturbed until 1980, when the Corkscrew was being built on the site, the original Alton Towers team had unwittingly awoken the Dark Forest from its dormancy. The minivan (which we see in the queue line of Thirteen) was part of the construction effort, but in a bizarre incident, was witnessed by the workers being overtaken and crushed by the supernatural tree vines in the Winter of 1980. The haunting apparition of Lady Gwendoline was also sighted for the first time in a century.
The management were left terrified and shaken after these events, and were driven to enlist the help of a Wiccan witch (who curiously had an ancestral link with the Beornen), incantating a protection spell upon the Corkscrew with it acting as a talisman of light throughout its lifetime, fending off the evil power of the Dark Forest. The construction workers who witnessed the strange event were compensated and sworn to secrecy.
The beacon of light bestowed on the Corkscrew attracted millions of people from around the world, and no one could work out why they felt drawn to it. However, in 2008, when the Corkscrew finally reached the end of its life, so to did it’s protective light against the Dark Forest… and the rest as we know is history…

The park could easily stretch those out over four or even six years. (of course we’d want them all at once but let’s be realistic)
Cheap way for towers to up gate numbers while bolstering the ride lineup and vastly improving the quality of offering’s longterm!
Incorporating two of the attraction’s indoor not only provides guests with more options on a rainy day but would drastically reduce maintenance and weather related wear.
If only Merlin ‘Magic’ 😒 makers would take note!!

With the new theme of nemesis going on. I would like to see galatica rethemed to fit in the area finely. I would personally theme it to be like jet fighting nemesis and have an area and merchandise similar to sworm. It could be falancs way of contacting nemesis. I don't know what I'd name galactica but I was thinking protocol 5 to link back to its secret weapon name.

Beware that the brakes of a HUSS topspin are produced by AIRBUS and are quite expensive in maintenance. That is why there aren't many left or new ones build.

Thorpe Park & Alton Towers are in desperate need of new flat rides. The Slammer needs replacing with an Intamin Gyro Swing. Ripsaw should be replaced with a Huss Suspended Top Spin themed to Phalanx. X sector should get an intamin Suspended twin hammer to replace submission and break dance 5 as shaun recommended. I'm very interested in tundra twister at Canada wonderland, this feels like it could have the same impact Rush and slammer had on the UK flat ride industry.

these sound amazing, ripsaw was one of my favourite rides and strangely went perfect in the dig site style land Forbidden valley used to be. May I ask though, with Oblivion being not much older then nemesis, wouldn't Oblivion be due for a retrack? if so would that make the plan of new flats in that area counter productive? surely to retrack that ride, especially with the underground tunnel, it would close off the whole area other then Smiler. Could it mean we don't actually see anything new there till then? 2025 at the earliest considering the retrack is next year? Id love to hear your thoughts on this. Cheers thanks for the videos
Oblivion probably wont get a retrack any time soon. My guesd is that they will keep it open as long as possible until it gets too expensive to keep open. That and destroying half of x sector just for oblivion would be too expensive. It made more sense for nemesis because its just easier to retrack and is just better and not outdated
I would argue Hex kind of counts as the Dark Forest's flat ride capacity, but yes, an approriately themed dark ride there would be great.
Also going to double down on bringing back Submission. That thing was horrific and themes in perfectly with the Ministry of Joy, also maybe it's time to retheme Oblivion to be part of the Ministry of Joy too given it lost the whole "Don't Look Down" aspect.

Just wondered, where does the phrase "Blue Sky" come from. I've heard you say it a few times now and I dont know what it means!? I always wished Alton Towers would install a Huss Giant Top spin to replace Ripsaw! I did hear it was a terrible ride however! I think what Alton Towers is really missing is a good water flume/coaster.
Kind of like sandbox mode in Rollercoaster Tycoon or other sim games … a big sheet of blank paper to design anything, the sky’s the limit, minimal or no restrictions. Let your imagination run wild etc. In Shawn’s video he’s applying some of AT’s limitations of space, height and thinking of capacity and variety, but otherwise, looking at all rides available to get the biggest list of options. Sorry for waffling!

That would be great them flat rides just to refresh all the areas and get more people into the park do you think they could repaint and update the monorail as other rides getting repainted could have nemesis on parts have all the different sectors on the actual track painted on and a guide voice change on each sector on the track

I was thinking they could retheme Galactica to be the Nemesis monster using a Phalanx space port to try communicate with it's species in the galaxy and you're sent out to combat it via these flying vehicles

I’d love to see a breakdance as long as some of the cycle options were more intense. Never tried a Magic but possibly too similar too a Breakdance in the ride patterns? Unlikely due to height restrictions now but an updated Huss Rainbow style ride is my dream! The Intamin Hammer is admittedly better than my wish for an updated Larson Loop, esp capacity-wise. I just don’t like being dangled upside down like on Submission. But what about an indoor Move-It 32? The absolute diamond of flat rides! Whatever they do, we are putting off a visit until they do it!
Maybe they could run it on more intense cycles later in the day and offer something for everyone!

As cool as it would be I just can't see Alton solving the flats problem its been going on for 9 years now, I'd love to be totally wrong but I just can't see it from how the park operates, despite what management said in your interview.
They should just hire you to plan attractions imo. With your knowledge of rides around the world, Alton’s history etc..

If I'm got to be totally honest, especially with the removal of Apocalypse at Drayton Manor, I'm desperate for a real drop tower. I know we have height issues, and people will say Sub Terra serves that population, but I LOVE drop towers and I've never returned to Sub Terra as it just doesn't do anything for me. Some great suggestions from you and if I had to remove one ride in place of my drop tower, I'd lose the break dance.
