I giggled at the lights comment! Your studio is absolutely lovely and so are you!
Oh my gosh I didn’t realise you moved to Poland! I’m so excited for you 😃 it must be so lovely to be around your family again. Wishing you lots of luck and happiness there 💕
Yes! Over two months ago! Time flies 😀 Thank you so much dear. I'm very excited to spend some time here 💕💕💕
Welcome back! Missed you! Steph
Thank you so much Steph! Very happy to be back 😍
Haha, the "I could have just turned on the lights" moment 😂 I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets this ditzy when I get tired 😁
oh absolutely! I make so many silly mistakes in that state, not to mention I become quite clumsy haha 😂 Gotta make sure we get enough rest! 😊
Such a cool work space!
Happy to see you safe in your new home & studio. I have the same Durston Bench as you, I don't envy you moving it! Super heavy!
oh yes, moving it was seriously a crazy adventure! 😬😂 It's massive and I think it's not meant to be moved around like this hahaha 😂
Thank you for all your videos, I really like to start my days watching you. I just started jewelry as a hobby, but already bought a lot, you know what I mean. Suddenly my husband need to be relocated to Poland so I would be really appreciate any lifehacks on how to move everything across the border. Especially afraid of moving silver as a material. Have a good time arranging your new space!
🙌🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Beautiful new studio!! Im glad you have electricity 😹😹🤪
hahahaha😂 Thank you so much! And thank you for watching 🙏
Yaaay! Great to see you back, Basia!
Glad to see you too! So happy to be back again :) Thank you for watching!
Yeeey, new vlog! Watching with tea right now!
Sweet! Thank you so so much! Enjoy your tea, I shall join in, from afar! :))
I’m so glad you’re back and your journey was safe.
Everything went well and quite smoothly :) Just took longer than expected, but that's natural :) Thank you so much for being here!
I'm so glad to see you back! 😊
Thank you Patrycja, I'm very happy to be back! :) And excited for future videos 😀
Love your new setup :) I look forward to seeing a review of the Smith Little Torch!
You’re getting there. I love your stone collection. Let us know how you get on with your torch. X
I will! Thank you so much 😍
Congratulations on the big move!!! Sounds exciting!
it really was! Thank you dear
Hi Basia! So happy to see you settling in in your new home and studio. Wishing you the best of luck with everything. The new studio already looks like a lovely space with a nice vibe.
Hi Kathy! Thank you so much dear 😍 I hope that new videos from that space will be interesting and captivating 🙏
I am so glad you are back 💖🙂.
New studio looks great and comfortable.
Wish you a great start 🙂
Happy to be back! I should be able to upload regularly from now on 😊 Thank you so much, take care!
The amber is gorgeous, so autumnal.
so true! Such a wonderful piece, can't wait to start working with it :))
Yay for the new space! My husband remodeled my studio and moving back in and getting settled has been stressful.
I have the same white wire mesh drawer thing from IKEA. It holds my sanding paper, adhesives and the last misc buts and bobbs. Cheers to creating again! 🥂
It's such a handy little thing, I'm surprised I didn't get it earlier! There's so much room to keep everything neatly organised and doesn't take much space.
I can imagine moving back in after remodeling the whole studio must've been a lot! I hope you're settling in and organizing the place now brings you joy :) Take care xx
Really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing.
I'm very happy that you do! Thank you for watching and for your kind comment, all the best!
Yay finally was looking forward to your new space, looks so organized already 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much Idil! There's still few things to do and I will probably change it here and there, adding some things and playing around with the organisation 😀
It will be so fun to play around and change bits and pieces until you feel settled☺️☺️
this looks so cool!
yay! thank you!! So happy you think so!! :))
Everything is coming together so nicely. I can’t wait to see it once you have everything set up. Btw your videos have been so helpful. I’ve started with gemstone jewelry and now want to learn metalsmithing.☺️
Wow, I'm so so happy to hear that Sharleen! Glad my videos are helpful, I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with metalsmithing! Good luck my dear, enjoy it!
Just take the top lid off of the pill box and it looks like it would fit
ahh congratulations on the move!! i found your channel really recently, and you are so adorable and have such positive energy
Thank you so much sweet Alisa! It means a lot and I'm happy to hear that you've started with silversmithing. I hope you will have a lot of fun crafting and that my videos will help you along the way! Good luck! 🌺
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing thank you so much! 🤗🤗🤗
Haha I have the same Lennart shelf and it's soooo gooood I love it so much :D don't know why but was so happy to the fact we both have it haha
You're so sweet! And I know the feeling, I love spotting the items that I have at the places of others, it makes me happy too! 😄❤️
Hello lovely girl, so nice to see you! I really enjoyed this upload 🤩 I had a thought for the awkward size box you want to keep in your drawer; perhaps you could just take the lid off the top? Your pill boxes would still fit neatly inside and it might even be easier for you to just grab them 😃 Wishing you a great week ahead ⭐️💕
Heyy! Thanks so much, I'm really glad you enjoyed it! 😃 And wow, that tip is perfect! I will try it as soon as I;m back in the studio, I hope it will work! Although I like that it closes - keeps the moisture away, the boxes have lids themselves, so that should be enough! Perfect, thanks you for suggesting it! Have a wonderful weekend too 🌺
You can use the color code boxes without clear storage in the drawer. And then you can use the clear storage for something else. That is an inspirational video, thanks
great idea! :) I'll try that. Though I like that lid, I wanted to keep it there 😄will try it and see
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing hey, is the message below from you? If so, I would like to contact you about it. Thanks anyway.

We missed you 🥰
I missed you too! So glad to be back, gosh! 😍
How exciting! I am so glad to finally see your new space. I have been waiting. Ha ha,You’re making me miss my Bench so much I have recently bought an oxygen generator and I love it I hope you will with your new system as well. Yay!
oooh, happy to hear that you love yours! I'm very excited to start using it, I'm a little bit intimidated, but that's natural when trying new, more advanced things. I'm sure everything will be ok! :) Thank you so much for watching and for the encouragement. I hope that you will enjoy the studio tour as well 😍🌺
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing I look forward to it. Good luck on the new studio and everything else. I will definitely stay tuned.
Thank you! xx
Congratulations on your move! I luv your new set up and your new work bench. Do you have a source? I’ve not seen anything so impressive in my search. I’m also wanting to know what the yellow device is on your desk that adds height when you’re sawing your beautiful designs out? I’m a newbie and trying to find the perfect set up myself. Thank you for any information you can provide.
Hi Basia! Looks like alot of hard work to make that move ! Wondering where you will be soldering ? I just moved from a larger room to a smaller on and
oh most definitely! I downsized several times over the years and I thought I was already quite minimalistic. But it turns out even the most necessary items add up. Not to mention tools and all the stuff that's business related! These take up most of my space 😂 I will be soldering on the bench, just how I used to. There is a soldering board on a side, I'll just move it towards the centre when Isoldering. I'll think about a ventilating system as well, to make it safer.
Thank you, I hope to have new pieces out in October! 🙏
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithingwe have to wait till then??? You're a hard woman Lady Stardust! That long??? Steve xx...
Such a great feeling getting to organize and create a new space to call home! Happy for you Basia 💞
oh, most certainly, Alicia! Thank you so much for watching and sticking around love 🙏
Hello, congrats on your move! I enjoyed watching your set up and organization of the new space. I am wondering if you use anything to filter fumes from your soldering? I am getting ready to renovate a room that will serve as a studio space and wondering what to for ventilation. Thank you!
Hi, thank you so much!! 😍 That sounds amazing that you will be setting up a studio space! Very exciting 😀 I'm afraid I don't use anything special at the moment, I will be looking into making a simple ventilating system very soon
Bits & Bubs 💕
😄🌺
Oh gosh! I love your bench! Did you have it custom made?
Not at all 😁 This one is made by Durston :) Thank you so much!
OMG ! She is a gem hoarder !! lol !!! VERY Nice collection! I"m jealous ! That amber is gorgeous !
Hahahaha, just "a little" bit, Deb, just a bit!! 😄😂 But to be frank, I used to buy only several gemstones at a time and I tried my best to use as much as possible before I purchased new ones. It was a budgeting thing. But now I started collecting some more, seeing how it helps with creativity and allows me to expand with designs and make jewellery more often - having the stones already at hand! :)) Though it's always hard to let go of them lol
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing That lavender and light green stone necklace you made was GORGEOUS ! I bet that got snapped up as soon as it posted ! I am amazed at the pendants you do with all the tiny details ! they are works of ART as well as jewelry !
@@jadeheart911Hiya Deb, I call them Art Jewellery for just that reason! How are you doing with your hole punch? I want to try that neckless with different shapes, moon surounded by stars is my top choice at the moment to try. I'll try when I get out of hospital. Steve...
@@stephencoster9532 Hey Stephen ! I have made a few sets of domed silver earrings with turquoise dangles and a few moon earrings and necklaces with copper and hammered look, silver moon earrings...... Copper moons with beaded dangles...... But I think my neighbors are getting sick of the pound noise !! lol ! How are doing? In the hospital...not covid I hope......hope you get better soon ! I did buy the Fretz hammer set too. The smaller gray metal one...its a nice set. get better soon !
@@jadeheart911thank you, dear lady, a heart attack I'm afraid, my 4th. They put stents in now, 3 of them so that should help a lot.
I'm jealous of your work output!!! I would love to see your work, it might kick me into doing some more when I can again.
I'm following a jeweller called Chris on YT I think he's is Diamond Mounter. I'm dyslexic and spelling has always been a problem. Anyway, he puts his metal block on a square of carpet to help kill the noise. As a high-end jeweller for 24 years, he is full of great tips and tricks. Plus all his videos are teaching. He charges £5 a month for part access, I may upgrade to £10 for full access, I think it would be worth it. Plus loads of free ones.
Those domed ones with turquoise sound perfect, how did you mount the gems? Are the Fretz hammers worth the money? I've used different hammers all my working life so to me a hammer is just a knocking stick and not worth extra money.
Stay safe...Steve...
Hi! Where exactly did you buy this amber in Gdansk? This will be next place on my map to visit :)
I would put you bottles on the side you intend to solder on or which ever is you dominant side if you intend on soldering in the middle. You could even set up a separate table on the right just to solder on. 🤷🏽♀️ So many options.
The usual practice is to use the torch in your non dominant hand to leave the dominant for tweezers or a pick for any manipulating you may need to do. Stay safe...Steve...
So here's the thing. Steve is right, but the problem is, I've learned to hold the torch in my right (dominant) since the very beginning, and I use the solder pick in my left hand. It worked for me as I'm pretty good with both hands. So the set up you mentioned may work for me. But I think, with the big torch, I will learn to hold it in my left hand and will start using my right hand for the pick and other movements 😃 Oh, and the separate table would be a perfect idea! But unfortunately right now that won;t be possible. I will keep that idea for future though!
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithingI'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous! I was told it's quicker/easier to use your dominant hand to shut off the taps on a torch than your weaker hand. I've never tried it but I can see the logic though. So your set up as you have it, will you put the propane tank, with regulator and gauges on the left side, with a chain around the tank so it can not fall over, and your oxygen regenerator next to it, also fixed back. Both with non-return valves, but using the machines gauges and meters. I'm partly making sure I have it right in my mind for doing exactly the same setup for myself.
I got the GRS interchangeable setup, so I will, I think put the soldering shelf with its built-in 3rd hands in the middle. Like you I love that new shape sawing pin, and where you put it, I'll put mine there to the right also. But for filling I'm going to use the GRS pin in the middle, and swap it out for the ring holder when I need to.
Stay safe...Steve...
Hi, I have fallen in love with your bench! Where did you get it from or it is handmade? I love silversmithing but my old bench is a bit worse for wear. Love the studio 🥰
Thank you so much! 🥰 The bench is by Durston, very solid, large and versatile!
Does she sell and ship to customers in the USA?
I was giving you credit!! You just haven’t set up your lamps yet tha why it was dark in the beginning
hahahaha precisely! 😄
Hiya Lady Stardust, like someone, once said, 'There's no place like home!' Didn't she have red shoes? I toured with Judy's daughter Launa Luft for 3 months. Anyway, how you had it worked so why change it if it ain't broke? I love the amber! It's wonderful to see the wood floor under the bench, for safety, now if you had a fire extinguisher? It's fantastic to see it all coming together again, I like the white wire draw unit. Shame about the Ikea trolly though, hindsight is such great vision.
Have I told you about Chris known as 'Diamond Mounter' here on YT? He worked in a very high-end jeweller in Bond Street in London. I've seen some of the output there, WOW! Hand made, bespoke one-offs, really shinny for the magpie in me. I'm going through all his back catalogue, he's been there, done it, for 24 years! A full apprenticeship in jewellery making with top teachers at work and college, not a graphic designer! He tells how top professional jewellers really do it not some provincial shopman. He also tells why. Time is money so why waste time. His tricks and tips videos, while nothing like yours are still wonderful, as you've been missing I'm learning a lot from him. To join his online classes, is £5 per month, not £20, for out of date videos and production. OK rant over, but try him out everyone, I love his work! Stay safe... Oh and welcome back...Steve xx...
Oh wow, that sounds amazing! Great experience 😍
I agree, why change anything when the system already works! So I will keep most of the tools and set up just the way it used to be, adding new ones or changing some bits here and there. The "wood" floor under the bench is a great solution (it's actually a thic lining), as it's not heavy and protects the floor and the carpet! My dad came up with this and I think it's perfect.
I need to check out Chris, his channel sounds very interesting! Thank you for letting me know, I'm very curious to see his work and check out the classes! 😍 Stay safe Steve and take care xx
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithinghe reminds me of you a bit. He can't work as a jeweller so makes videos for us instead. The fact that he has done it for many years does help with accepting his ideas. i love the way he just does things, like making the cone for making a collet. Just turns a strip of flat silver into an arc with two pairs of pliers, just manipulates the metal so easily, a joy to watch. Steve...
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithingWhy do I always forget something? The pill box, take the clear lid off. That should solve the height problem and the individual boxes close to keep pills dry so whatever you put in should be okay. Steve...
are you still in the uk
Hiya, Argentium does not give you fire scale. Will you have your touch in your dominant or weak hand? I keep hearing, no you have to do this...
Missing you, Steve xxx
Where do you prefer your bench pin to hit? Chest? Shoulders? Lower? I have a homemade bench and struggling w the height of my chair. It’s too high
The experts say, with your feet flat on the floor, your thigh should be parallel to the floor, and when working at your pin your back should be straight. A lot of people put lengths of wood under the legs at each end if the bench is to low. Fixing to the wall is also good, and if you use the extra wood, use brackets to make sure it does not move. The Diamond Mounter channel has a great video on doing it. Steve...
@@stephencoster9532 thanks! Trying to determine where the bench pin should ideally hit on my body for proper posture AND being able to see etc
@@Susanarylander most 'experts' who talk about it suggest mid to high chest. I went with mid-chest, sternam sort of area, for great visibility. If you think about being at the bench for hours at a time, avoid neck and back strain by having them as straight as possible.
@@stephencoster9532 thanks so much! i had tried what i read once about shoulder and i couldn't see everything else i needed at the bench comfortably. looking for a chair and calculating my range needed for adjusting. thanks so much! i might try that mid chest. thanks Stephen
