you are right, nancy hamilton should have a book! i am going to get the book about the different soldering techniques because that is my biggest challenge a lot of the time. i just learned how to pick solder and that has been helpful

Since that video, I also have another book worth recommending and that's Jewelry Making by Metalmith Society. A great beginner book and soldering is very well explained. For advanced learning, the one shown in this video about soldering will be a good choice! :) I agree, the techique where you pick the solder and apply wherever you need to is extremely useful and handy. Good luck with soldering! :)

One of my absolute favourites is "Eco Jewelry Handbook: A Practical Guide for a Healthy, Safe and Sustainable Studio" by Christine Dhein. When I started out, I was a bit overwhelmed by all the hazards and chemicals that are present while making jewellery, and thus I looked for ways of working safer. This book became very handy at tackling all my concerns and it is a great source for more sustainable materials to use while on the bench :)

Excellent books, all! They guided my beginnings too! I especially love Jinx McGrath's book; The Rings book, very straight forward. Though, she hired a stone setter to do her stone setting, but that's always a real option.

A great video, thank you Lady Stardust, Keep Ventilated! I love it. All these books are very good, I don't think there is 'Just One Book' that says it all, but The Complete Metalsmith, by Tim McCreight does come closest. A fantastic book that provides more answers than I have questions! Yet again a well thought out film, well shot with excellent sound, I feel I don't tell you that enough but it's true, you are very good. Have you seen Stephen Goldsmith's video on Kernowcrafts channel? Well worth watching. When people on here ask where to get the information when starting, I point them at books. Cheap and very easy way of providing a lot of very good information to a lot of people in an easy manner, fast.
I love my 'Wave' thank you, Basia, stay safe, Steve xx...

will do! Good ventilation is a must 😄 I have the book by Tim McCreight, but the student version... It's ok, but I wish I was able to get the complete version, it's much more detailed. This one is sort of a summary. I totally agree with you and would highly recommend the complete version to everyone! :))
I'm very happy that you also liked the video itself, I think I figured out the filming set up a bit better now.
Oooh, I have to see that video! I haven't seen it before. Thanks for letting me know :) It's possible you recommended it before...but I completely forgot! And yes, books are excellent and timeless! :) Take care xx
