ER doctor who treated George Floyd testifies on cause of death

- The Hennepin County Medical Center doctor who treated Floyd and declared him dead last May testified that he believed Floyd likely died of asphyxia.
Dr. Bradford Langenfeld, an emergency medicine physician, said he treated Floyd for about 30 minutes on May 25, 2020, as hospital staff unsuccessfully tried to restart his heart. Based on what paramedics reported and on Floyd's medical condition, Langenfeld said the "more likely possibility" of Floyd's cardiac arrest was hypoxia, or lack of oxygen.
"Doctor, is there another name for death by oxygen deficiency?" prosecuting attorney Jerry Blackwell asked.
"Asphyxia is a commonly understood term," Langenfeld responded.
On cross-examination, Langenfeld said that hypoxia can be caused by many things, including drugs such as fentanyl, methamphetamine or a combination of both.
Earlier Monday, Judge Peter Cahill spoke to jurors outside of the view of cameras about an allegation of juror misconduct. He ruled there was not been any misconduct and the jurors were credible.
#ChauvinTrial #CNN #News
Regardless of whether it was drugs or a knee to the neck, at some point, Mr. Floyd was no longer resisting and should have received first aid. Instead, he was continued to be restrained and compressed.
Exactly!!!!
Amen 👍
Thank you for being the voice of reason, well said!
Even if drugs COULD have killed him the prosecution is just playing games to create reasonable doubt in one juror. Chauvin was the cause of triggering ANYTHING to cause death so justice is only one verdict. Stop police entitlement to murder and send this man down
Since GF was not rendered aid appropriately, this will still leave open a charge of some kind of negligence against Chauvin, even if it's not murder he can still get the can for allowing someone to die because he didn't do his job.

If by “every first responder failed to to do their job” you specifically mean the cops, then yes I agree... where it gets blatantly and systemically criminal is when to obscure this failure they also prevented anyone else present at the scene from making any attempt to aid or resuscitate Mr Floyd... Cops are absolutely trained to administer CPR themselves and if they had done (even just half-heartedly) there would be evidence of it. Although he gave all of his efforts it just wasn't enough. But this wasn't his fault. He's just doing what he's been subpoena to do. Poor guy, I know he's sick and tired of being sick of tired. God Bless him💜
The questions asked are so inappropriate from the defendant’s side, let’s say he had all these drugs in him, did he die while in his car or sitting? The base line was, he dead after being knelt on for 9mins: 24seconds.
Let’s not forget the medics. I’ve been in emergency medicine for 13+ years. Why they didn’t start compressions immediately upon arrival is almost just as shocking.
I was thinking the exact same thing
If you don’t work on the road then you wouldn’t understand and your experience in emergency medicine is worthless. They moved to a secure location due to a hostile crowd. That is absolutely standard. I don’t touch a patient till I’m safe
They do what the cops tell them. Everyone should be on trial!!
If you watch the film. Other police showed up in a ambulance and tossed him in. Not emt.
@@ITRUTH213 Those were county paramedics, not police.
Hey defense, George Floyd did not arrive at hospital as an overdose, he arrives handcuffed and choked out
ruclips.net/video/dP5nh_z1JXk/видео.html
Yes, but the doctor was very specific there, he said the paramedics did not say if the patient was displaying agitated behaviour prior to his cardiac arrest and agitation is or can be a sign of drug use. That's why the doctor was swayed to thinking cardiac arrest due to asphyxiation. The paramedics arrived after Floyd went into cardiac arrest and wouldn't have seen his behaviour prior to it.
If there's evidence, video or otherwise of Floyd being extremely agitated, that will alter the doctors view on the potential cause of death. The doctor was used his language carefully and specified based on the information he had received. Obviously if he receives more information or different information, he comes to another conclusion or, he's less than 100% or 90% or 80% on the cause of death than he currently is.
No, the hat wearing paramedic in video, the second, older with beard paramedic took his cuffs off with his own issued key in the back on scene.

yep. just like the defense tried to make something so simple MURDER seem so complex i.e. making excuses and trying to explain how you can knee on someones neck for 9.5 minutes and try to explain that they died from something else.
In case you still want to blame fentanyl, 1) during the arrest and prior to the knee being placed on his neck, he showed no signs of opioid toxicity. He was alert, orientated, sitting upright, and able to follow commands. people who are ODing are confused, slouched down, unresponsive, and unable to follow even basic commands. 2) If he was not currently experiencing OD symptoms prior to the neck restraint, then it's impossible he would have suffered an OD at a later time. You cannot increase your blood levels without taking more medications and Floyd clearly did not ingest more fentanyl during his arrest. 3) If you have a heart condition and I punch you in the chest hard enough to cause cardiac arrest (yes this is actually possible), you wouldn't blame the heart condition for the cause of death. You would blame the person you did the punching.

It wasn't a FEELING of not being able to breathe! He literally could not fckn breathe!
Exactly. The doctor can certainly agree with the points that the defense made about how some drug interactions can mimic the effects of a cardiac arrest but they will NEVER be able to prove that these so-called drugs created these exact effects of a cardiac arrest, assuming that they were even in his system, which was unlikely.
Now if George Floyd was, for example, being pursued by the police or in a panic situation like trying to get away, and THEN went into cardiac arrest, the case of certain drug interactions being the cause of it would perhaps have more credibility, provided it could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that certain drugs were in his system. Instead, he had a KNEE on his neck which was proven by the ER doc after examination that this alone was the cause of his cardiac arrest due to asphyxiation.
In other words, what are the exact odds of this cardiac arrest occurring due to (alledged) drug interactions only while at the same time, a knee was on his neck for almost 10 minutes? Sorry defense, I know you're trying to do your job, but your client Chauvin is a murderer.
