I’m usually out for 5-6 hours at a time with my Gladiator. I have a 2nd battery tray and run dual 3300 3S batteries and don’t have to change batteries until I’m done.
Love the long trail runs. Took my Gen 8 on a 4 and half hour rock crawl with a group of buddies 2 weekends ago. Surprising enough even with hard rock crawling nothing broke, battery was only half dead. its amazing what Rc crawlers can do.

As a trail runner and an scale rc driver, it’s cool to see the two hobbies combined. Could be a whole new category of competitive scale rc. Great video
A neat challenge you set. Nice to see an RTR can withstand that kind of punishment out of the box. Impressive that it can handle that much constant use. I’d love to see a follow up with inspection in the studio after you recover.

If that isn’t a testament to the quality of Vanquish, then I don’t know what is. Props to you for walking 12.4 miles with camera and RC gear. My legs and feet hurt just watching, but it also gave me inspiration to get out and do some hiking with my rigs.
My friend and I do a mount to mount here in the UK, its between the obelisk at Ham hill to St Michael's mount montecute. We cover it as a round trip of about 8k
(5:00) ...In response to Matt's "1-complaint"... ...You should have brought your Gmade (GS02F), which has a 2-speed, and a great crawling 1st gear, with overdrive (stock), to be able to run "ANY" course, and give Matt/us the quicker walking speed "we all want in a trail crawler !!!" 😉👌👍

Chris and Greg with the detailed look and sublime running videos. Matt runs it 19km because its named after a 19km trail all while still being a polite Canadian the entire time. I would wager you actually drove it further than everyone at Vanquish combined.

Wow wow wow!!!! What a cool vid!!! Hike and drives are my favorite. My wife and I go on lots of hikes and backpacking trips. The longest I have taken a rig on is just under 12 miles. Man if I lived closer to you, we could go on long drives!!!🤘🤘🤘

This is what my Trail Amped play list is all about man. Great work!!! My son and I love hitting the trails our here and stretching out our rigs. last summer we did 34 miles in a little over 30 days with 5 or so different trails! it was so much fun. I cant wait to get back out there! Maybe next run ill run my VP truck for a long one! Again, great video! - P

Lets be real here.... 1:10 scale.... so scale 190km over all... only had to drive 1.9km to match the fordyce with the fordyce ;) LOL! Great work though eh! loved the video :)

It's an RTR vehicle so, I was expecting massive failures early on and so, I was gleefully excited to finally find success at the end of the journey! And let’s not forget the task you took on. Josh torture tested his, you definitely endurance tested yours. Well maybe torture tested the rtr electronics lol. My hat off to you good sir
I'm attempting a similar challenge with my 3D printed RC car. I called it the #printedtrophy 😄 I really enjoyed the video, awesome work! And what an incredible trail!
Awesome video and effort! I just ordered a grey Fordyce and is supposed to deliver today! Very impressed with the Fordyce. Only thing I’m disappointed is that the shocks started to leak. This is just an estimate but let’s assume this long journey of 19km or 11miles would usually take a week worth of regular usage. That essentially means you’d have to rebuild the shocks very frequently, basically every 5 trips or so. I love my VS410 phoenix but it is also has issues with shocks leaking. The shocks leaking seem to be the shortcoming of this truck and it’s a shame because I think they’re some of the smoothest shocks I’ve owned. But again with that one thing out of the way I’m VERY impressed with the VS4 and the new Fordyce edition. Side note: I would be very interested in a 0% overdrive or a lower 1-3% overdrive. As of now I’m not seeing a good way to accomplish that. Atleast not using VP parts. All I see are 8% and 21% Anyone know of a gear set to accomplish this?
@@scalebuildersguild never used green slime but i always use O-ring lube. I got my Fordyce and I like it a lot just like my Phoenix. However I had some small issues. Just like my Phoenix the bed panels are paper thin and the Fordyce arrived with two tears in the bed panels, the biggest being about a half inch long. There was zero damage to box during shipping. And the right rear lug nut was so tight my DeWalt driver wouldn’t loosen it and I couldn’t loosen it with any RC hand tool that had a screwdriver or nut driver like handle. I had to use a 1/4” drive ratchet with a handle to have enough leverage to loosen it. Checked the threads and threads are perfect and not cross threaded and no debris in threads. I don’t know why/how it got so tight. I’d also like to see VP include some parts trees and body posts like Axial and Traxxas. Other than those couple small things, I think the Fordyce is fantastic just like my Phoenix. Again, much respect to you and HD for your hard work in putting out great content, keep it up!

Great content and a brilliant little truck. By the end of the hike, the truck was definately moving faster than you were. You mentioned early in the hike that the top speed is a little low. What would you do to make it a bit better as a trail truck? A brushless system to changing out the pinion and spur gears?
The speed is fine for walking/jogging pace. I was looking for more of a runner’s pace. A pinion change even with the stock motor would have given me that for sure.
SBG out here running a half marathon with 30 lbs of camera gear and batteries. Absolute madman

No gears will allow for 0%, that I know of anyway. When you rebuild your shocks, use green slime. That should help! Thanks for watching and good luck!

Happy to! Gens Ace 6000mah 3S 100C packs. I basically did 10k on each one, and probably could have gone longer as I didn't reach cut-off before swapping.

I'm a big fan of Reef's servos. Can't recommend them enough! Holmes is always a good upgrade. Puller Pro would be my choice probably.
Great content and a brilliant little truck. By the end of the hike, the truck was definately moving faster than you were. You mentioned early in the hike that the top speed is a little low. What would you do to make it a bit better as a trail truck? A brushless system to changing out the pinion and spur gears?
The speed is fine for walking/jogging pace. I was looking for more of a runner’s pace. A pinion change even with the stock motor would have given me that for sure.
