Unfortunately, when I called the local Chevy dealership, they had no clue about the "mass price cuts." It was deer in the headlights syndrome. The problem for all car brands in the US is the pipeline in sales/delivery/service is funneled through the dullard staff of dealerships who range in efficacy from incompetent to sleazy.

I have had the same experience with Concord Chevy in California this past week. And I do not believe we will be seeing these price cuts actually implemented any time soon with the supply constraints. All cars are still being sold above msrp. The price cut announcement from Chevy means nothing if the dealers do not even acknowledge it. Why would they, all selling prices are still inflated.

I believe this is for the 2023 model year which are not in production yet, though very little is changed. I read something about preorders in July. Also nowhere around me or anywhere in my state has been marking them up more than slight dealer upgrades. Might just be parts of the country

Bypassing dealerships is the big thing Tesla has going for them. I really wish other autos would get rid of the dealership model, but there is just simply too much money to be made through them and dealerships already got most states to pass laws protecting their business, so we are stuck with them. Avoiding dealership headaches and over charging is one of the main reasons I only buy used from private sellers.

@@JEP-Tech While Tesla has fixed pricing going for it, it essentially did the same gouging by raising the price of its cars significantly over the last year. And legacy automakers would love to sell direct, they can't in most states.

I just got my Bolt EUV LT and you all need to know this:
The new battery recall upgraded the range to 300-375 miles.
    0-60 in 4.3 seconds
DC Recharging is slower than advertised. But because of the upgraded battery. It’s 100% worth it.
Highway driving is very energy costly. It seems to burn 2e:1 miles going 70+ miles an hour. But i have not done a full road trip yet. It’s much better on city streets. Doing about 1e:2 miles
If this get a lot of likes i will post a 0-60 for proof as well as charging it to 100% to show you the full range potential.

When you first get the car you it will say 248 as advertised but i drove 40 miles until 1 miles when down. You will need to run it down to like 10-25% for it to recalibrate to around 285 miles at a 80% charge.

@@Sir...... Yes and no - this is actually the SECOND price drop for the Bolt family. When the Bolt EV launched in 2017, the base started at $37,500 in order to hit the goal of $30k when accounting for the $7,500 tax credit. GM's tax credit eligibility expired in 2020. When Chevy refreshed the Bolt EV (and introduced the EUV) in 2021 for the '22 MY, they dropped the price to compensate for the lost tax credit, with the Bolt EV starting at $32,500 (not quite putting it at the credit-adjusted $30k before, but close). THIS price drop is new for the '23 MY and according to GM, it's to 'better reflect the average current transaction price' - as they're now heavily discounting the Bolt family in the wake of the bad press from the battery fire recall. The Bolt EV now starts at just $26,600, WELL below simply compensating for the tax credit. This pricing change is less about the tax credit, and more about jumpstarting interest in the Bolt family post-recall.

So many complain about the lack of affordable EVs. I think it’s great that Chevy is doing this price cut. You can get the smaller Bolt for well under $30k, or load up the EUV with Premiere and sun/sound package (minus Super Cruise) for $36k. If GM can crank up production, and buyers take the chance given the LG battery pack issue, they could have a hit. I wonder what will happen to both Bolts when Chevy launches the planned $30k Blazer EV. Maybe they keep the regular Bolt and ditch the EUV to make room in the lineup. That would solve the two-Bolt model issue.

I purchased a base model EUV, 1 year ago and have found it to be an excellent vehicle. This is my first electric vehicle and I can say with confidence I definitely would never go back to an ICE car. I live in a condo with an electrical panel that doesn't have the capacity for Level 2 charging, so all the charging is done with 110V and it's never been a problem for me. I like to keep the battery topped up, so when the car is parked at home it's plugged in. But if I had a major daily commute charging this way probably would not be practical and I would have to go through a permitting process to upgrade the main electrical supply. My only complaint is the roof rack. First, the Thule rack is pricey, but my major complaint is the fixed location of the rack mounts on the roof rails. Why GM couldn't have located the rear rack mounts at least 6" further back is beyond me. I often put 8' long lumber on the rack, and while it works, a slightly longer spacing would have been nice. That said, I have no regrets making the purchase. I'm also still waiting for the replacement battery but haven't had any issues or concerns.

The Bolt might not be the fanciest EV on the market, but that's actually a very good thing. One of the biggest problems in the EV industry seems to be a serious lack of simple, practical, attractive, entry level vehicles. Most EVs on the market now are hyper expensive and so jewel-like in appearance that they seem to be going after the upper class markets while thumbing their noses at the majority of the car market. A vehicle like this offers most folks a great gasoline free alternative to the small crossover SUVs that are so popular now.

Chevy is going all out on high-end EVs now and the new Silverado EV is stunning as well as the Hummer and new Caddy. Well you know I like the idea of the price cut for those types of vehicles I mean the Chevy bolt EV being cut as far as the price is concerned down to $28,195. And what I like about that idea is very simple. I think what we are seeing is very much what I'm hearing now and the reason why the price is being cut to that price is simple it's because of high demand. And by the way just to let you people know basically they're also be coming out with those same type of cars that will have self driving capabilities. So basically these EVS are going to end up becoming a hot commodity before too long. There will be a lot of people wanting them. And game shows like The Price is Right and The wheel of Fortune will probably most likely be giving those away to some lucky contestant. Or contestants to be exact. So you might say there's going to be a high demand for the bolt euv.

So the trick to getting a Bolt/Bolt EUV is to find a dealer which doesn't charge over MSRP and also doesn't add dealership mandatory options, then custom order one from them. The dealership I finally decided would get my business said it would take 1-2 months to have a custom order delivered.

I think dropping the Standard Bolt in favor of the EUV and lower the price a bit more would make this a model that could sell well for GM until they have the Equinox EV up and going. I'd honestly look at the Bolt rather than the EUV IF they offered ventilated seats in the basic Bolt, but they don't. Ventilated seats with our 100+F summers that last May to October are a must in an electric car else you lose a huge chunk of your battery to cooling the interior, especially in all of those full glass roof models without shades.

We like our 2nd Bolt, and the only things that bother us are the rough ride and the small platic parts which fall off; Sun visor cosmetic plate and rear cargo screen attachment points; dealer said they're not covered by warranty...because we don't have the parts...because they fell off!
I avoid backroads because the ride is hard on my internal organs!
The rough ride is why we'll eventually get a different EV.
I'm 6'5" and still don't need to put the seat all the way back; lateral space is more limited but not uncomfortable.
Also, my understanding is GM will replace battery modules they deem susceptible, NOT entire packs, which may mean we'd then have unbalanced modules, since we're already 10k miles in on this pack.

The used Bolts are NOT cheap. In my market 2017s still needing the battery recall are going for $20k, about $6k more than a year ago. Shop around on the new ones. They are hard to find, and GM seems to only be building the EUV at the moment. You can get them at MSRP if you try. Don’t worry about that $7500 tax credit. I/we want to be comfortable around town but also on occasional 200 Mile trips to Charlotte. I’m trading in a Honda Fit and keeping the CRV for the time being. I want to compare and see how much I really like the EV. I’ve been waiting now for almost 2k months with no words when our Bolt will be here which has given me a lot of time to think…. I wish I could drive both the Bolt and Equinox to compare. The equinox will have the Ultium battery which sounds very attractive because it’s charges faster. Does this mean that my Bolt will be obsolete next year? That has made me think that leasing might be better than buying. That way I could trade up in 36 months with a guaranteed trade value. I’m starting to think of this like an iPhone where the technology moves so fast you want to upgrade every year or so. I know it will come down to the actual numbers in the final deal but do you have any thoughts about Leasing vs Buying? Thanks again!

I have a long-standing and bitter hatred for GM products. Less so with Cadillacs, but every other GM product I’ve ever been in felt like an expensive rental car, plus I’ll never forgive the brand’s history of working hard against public transport, their weird pricing structure meant to make dealers look good, and the fact that American tax dollars bailed them out in 2008 when Ford seemed to come out of it fine without a dime, and making, to my eye, better products. All that said, they made the best PHEV (Volt) and the most cost-effective and range-sensible EV (Bolt) before anyone else did. They deserve props for it. I’d think about buying one, right before I decided to wait out in my GTI for the other brands to bring something to the 30k price point with competitive range. If Ford totally revamped the Ecosport or Jeep brought a Renegade type vehicle at this price point, I could get a lot more excited about it.

You need to look into the government bailout of GM and Chrysler in a more detailed manner. It's much more complicated than casual observers realize.
