    50k for a Camry? We are definitely living in some interesting times. I just configured a 2025 XSE all wheel drive model, with the same Ocean Gem ext color, black interior, premium plus package, 19" DGM wheel/tire package, connected service, front accent lighting, and illuminated door sills. I recently rented a base LE during a trip, drove it an hour to my destination through Atlanta and was actually impressed by it, especially to be the base model. Decent host of features and pep; only issue I had was its immense body roll (albelt knowing it wasn’t an XSE), but otherwise I see why it’s still the best “automotive appliance”, especially having personally owned three as a HS/college student in the 80s/90s including my first car - an ‘89 DX with the power package.

True, Toyota has a reputation for reliability however that complex drive train requires maintenance as all gas cars do. Kudos to Toyota for partially offsetting these difficulties with uparalleled build quality.

      A recent Consumer Reports survey found that hybrids are more reliable than gasoline only or plug in hybrid vehicles. They do not really cover past 150 thousand miles very well since the people paying for an annual subscription and filling out the survey tend to not keep a vehicle until it is time to take to the junkyard for parts. See the Carsthatlast videos for time tested most reliable very used vehicles. Another way to check reliability is resale value. Big difference between a Cadillac and a similar Lexus.

Washed it once and a bunch of holes happened. Sent it back to J Crew (where I got the vest too) and got a new shirt (the one in the Camry). Going to wash this one by hand. At the end you asked for feedback about Red Light Green Light (I liked it and miss it , but I understand your need to slim down the timeline But I would be happy if it came back). Anyway, I couldn’t comment in Apple Podcast, so I came to RUclips only to find that the video I just received was already on your channel about 3 months ago! 😢

    • @sleekitwan
      @sleekitwan 2 месяца назад

      There is only one way to make a gasoline engine notably more efficient - somehow make use of the wasted energy (the 80%!) and put it into driving the car along. The only way that jumps out, is a micro steam turbine in a hybrid. 80% of the energy going into an ICE, is thrown away as heat - they are great boilers. Only 20% ends up turning a shaft. We’re all so used to how motor vehicles are, we don’t question a radiator, but it’s an energy wastage device. Anyway, make steam with the heat, turn a micro steam turbine, thence get an electric motor-generator to produce electricity, feed it into a hybrid battery pack, and you’re there. Even if you only got half the heat energy converted, you’d be up to an overall efficiency of 60% from the lousy 20%…that straightforwardly translates as 3 times the mileage per gallon, or for a 40mpg gas engine, 120mpg. Why has nobody done this? Well, it’s gasoline engine research, guess who does most of that, yes, the oil industry…why would they want to sell 2/3 less gasoline?! Pretty bad really.

    • @holmiumh
      @holmiumh 3 месяца назад +2

      Toyota has limited high voltage battery production capability and that's the critical consideration for hesitation with PHEV and BEV.
      Battery size examples:
      RAV4 hybrid: 1.6 kWh
      RAV4 Prime: 18.1 kWh
      bZ4X: 71.4 kWh
      They could build 1 BEV or 4 PHEV or 44 hybrids with a given cell production volume , no-brainer for Toyota. Especially if you consider the "profit per cell" equation it should be clear why PHEV and BEV need to be so much more expensive. Chinese and American automakers get insane government investment funding on BEV but Toyota doesn't have that luxury.

    My 2022 Tesla model 3 long range dual motor has a wheelbase just 2 inches longer. I get between 143 and 147 MPGe. It has 425 HP, does 0.95 g on the skidpad and tops out at 140 MPH if I wish. I like Toyota's chassis, but their powerplants are dismal these days. I think they're missing out because they put so much effort into hydrogen power which hasn't brought them success.

    2025 Toyota camryis good only in outside inside the interior is not good and the build quality is also not good in the interior not great. Finishing interior i recommend choosing Honda accord 2025 it's battery build quality inside and outside and the Honda is more luxurious than camry

    $50,000 for a slow appliance with a CVT. Toyota is losing touch.
    I don't care if it starts at $30,000. That's for a stripped-down model. AWD in the north is a must.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  3 месяца назад +1

      @DrivenCarReviews Thank you for the correction, Tom! $45,000 is a lot, but it makes me feel a bit better about the car as a whole at that price. Loved the video nonetheless!
