One of my absolutely all time favorite movies. Brilliant writing, casting and directing. Brad Pitt and Jason Stratham’s best performances. I love the fight scene at the end. The build up, the brutality, the zinger. I could watch this movie over and over and every time find something new to love about it. My kids are sick of me quoting it. LOL
Snatch is an absolute cinematic masterpiece! Every aspect from the littlest background noise to casting was flawless. So many storylines with so many unique & powerful performances that were all beautifully entwined to tell a single story. It’s just a phenomenally genius piece of work that will stand the test of time & still be talked about for generations!
Have you seen "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" (also by Guy Ritchie)? Snatch is a spiritual sequel to that movie. Basically all events have some grounding in reality, not that they happend as seen, but were talked about as if they were and Guy Ritchie wrote down all those stories. That's why he didn't do third one in this style - basically all the best stories are encapsulated in those two movies. Even the cast is very similar, although they play new characters.
@@reedkellner6447 I'm a big sci fi fan and I was so excited to see this movie. I thought Brad did a good job but the movie left me flat. The other Pitt movie I really liked was Meet Joe Black.
This movie was perfect in every aspect. Pitt's best performance ever. That freeze frame shot with the look on Brad's face in contrast to the shock on the other two is just brilliant.
When this movie came out a buddy of mine went and saw it. Few days later we went to the movies and he said “we have to see Snatch!! It’s awesome!!!” I knew nothing about it. Never heard of it. So I went into the theater blind. I’ll always be grateful to that bastard for never spoiling a moment of that movie.
Pitts punch into water visual.... so extremely well done, and you understand its symbolism instinctively. And when he snaps up and lays out the other guy, its seems like the only logical conclusion. Man I love this movie. Made Guy Richie a legend.
I've watched this film so many times I basically know the entire script off by heart. This particular scene gives me goosebumps. Oasis tune in the background and a sublime KO from Mickey, you can't go wrong

What actually happened was pitt was offered another part but couldn't master the cockney accent. He could do a passable Irish traveller accent however and Mickey was born. Worked out for the best imo.

This scene shows the brutality of organized crime. It also demonstrates that someone like Brick Top who thought he was invincible , was only feared by his own men.
I think he was feared by the underworld, but in the UK the gypsies tend to have this sort of aura about them that even the underworld don’t want to get involved with them. Because you can be powerful like Brick Top, and maybe have 50 of your men around you at all times. But Gypsies are all connected by family and if they come after you hundreds are coming and they aren’t going to stop until they’ve done you serious damage. Not the sort of people you want after you. This is the greatest part of the movie. You don’t know what’s going to happen. You think the Pikey is going to throw the fight and that chaos erupts with Brick Top going on a rampage getting everyone back and the Pikey doesn’t know what he’s in for. But no, the Pikey knew exactly what was going down and stayed on top of the whole situation, helping out Jason’s character and getting sweet revenge for his mother. One of the best movies of all time.
