One of my absolutely all time favorite movies. Brilliant writing, casting and directing. Brad Pitt and Jason Stratham’s best performances. I love the fight scene at the end. Snatch is an absolute cinematic masterpiece! Every aspect from the littlest background noise to casting was flawless. So many storylines with so many unique & powerful performances that were all beautifully entwined to tell a single story. Have you seen "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" (also by Guy Ritchie)? Snatch is a spiritual sequel to that movie. Basically all events have some grounding in reality, not that they happend as seen, but were talked about as if they were and Guy Ritchie wrote down all those stories. That's why he didn't do third one in this style - basically all the best stories are encapsulated in those two movies. Even the cast is very similar, although they play new characters.

I think he was feared by the underworld, but in the UK the gypsies tend to have this sort of aura about them that even the underworld don’t want to get involved with them. Because you can be powerful like Brick Top, and maybe have 50 of your men around you at all times. But Gypsies are all connected by family and if they come after you hundreds are coming and they aren’t going to stop until they’ve done you serious damage. Not the sort of people you want after you. Some of them live for violence and conflict. It’s what their life centres around. Settling disputes.

I remember watching this in English class when we were 13-14. Forget was it to teach something, or our teacher was hungover and didn't want to teach. Great double english either way.

Everyone in London is genuinely afraid to mess with the Gypsies. Even the black gangs that hang around harassing everyone don't bother the Gypsies, to unpredictable.
I found this out living in London as a Scot with a thick Glasgow accent. All these gangs just left me alone but would pick on other people around me, I later found out its because of my accent. These lads can't tell what my accent is but it sounds to them like it's Irish Gypsy so they always just left me alone to sit and eat my food or read my paper or what ever I was doing.
