Hi Ollie This really is great work that you are doing for railway preservation, not just for yourself but others and future generations. It also shows how much work is involved in getting these old wagons/vans etc back into some use. Its a bit of of an un-seen aspect but none the less vital project (for safety at least) and to do most of it on your own is also (or should be), inspirational to younger enthuiasts to get involved in the 'heavy lifting' and engineering side of railway preservation. Excellent work sir! Very well done.
Good evening. Fantastic progress on the BR brake van 😊For a young man your enthusiasm about your railway vehicles is awesome 👏🏻
Thanks for the kind words, really does mean a lot! I love working on wagons and hope to do many more in the future!
Whilst you have the van over the pit I'd keep working on the brakes.
Otherwise you may have to move it before everything is reattached. Still loving this series and the box van diaries.
Yeh it’s best to make the most of the time over the pit but just a shame it makes for boring viewing I guess!
absolutely loved this episode as with all of the brake van and box van series. id love to see more of the brake rigging painting and reassembly again!
Glad you enjoyed it, I won’t drag the brake rigging vids on for too much longer 😂
The brake mechanism is the most interesting part of the brake van
Not too everyone I’m afraid! Haha
Thanks That Deox-C and the Hydrate 80 are good on that de-rusting! Nice finish. Great progress Ollie. Nice production too!
Thank you for the donation Flymo! And yeh hydrate 80 really is a winner
Hey Ollie, loving each of the restoration processes and the results so far and look forward to seeing all of them. Take care and stray safe. :) :) :)
Really glad you enjoy it Colin, just don’t want it getting boring for anyone!
I'm Drayman4 from Railcam. I will be watching this diary catching up and going forward!
Ha, thanks for coming across, hope you enjoy mate!
Great work, Ollie! Personally I have enjoyed each episode and love seeing this... so forwards and let the fun follow.
Thank you Anthony, just don’t want people getting bored of the same topic every episode whilst I get the brakes done!
Love it, id love to see you do the other end aswell, really looking forward to seeing you do the interior, along with the replacing of any of the rotten wood on the outside
There’s plenty of work to be done, just don’t want to bore people to death as the views seem worse on the last couple of vids about the brake mechanisms!
Good progress Ollie, both sides please! 👍👍
The more I do brake rigging videos, the worse the views get 😂😆
Excellent video, as always, Ollie!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great progress looking superb ,under there !
Thank you, much appreciated!
thank you for another wonderful video Wardle Road
Glad you enjoyed it
Coming along well!
Thank you Jenny!!
Looking like hard work but amazing 👏 thankyou for the video
My pleasure 😊, glad you enjoyed!
Most enjoyable video, you have done a great job.
Appreciate it John, it’s really been time consuming so far!
Wonderful video
Cheers Mels
Hey Ollie, probably sorted by now but noticed at 8:15 you have undone bolts on the underside of the treadboards you replaced earlier. Just in case.... ! Ignore me...... looking again don't think they are finished yet. I forgot you jump from one thing to another 😊
Haha I'm not good at doing one thing at a time! (As you could probably tell)...
Would like to see the completion of the brake system, inc the adjustment process, 👍
Adjusting it should be a lot of fun to try and get right 😂
Coming along great definitely complete the brakes and any other under frame work before moving on. Might just be me being pedantic but I know you treated all the running boards with wood preservative so it’s up to you but maybe while you have access underneath paint the underneath of the running boards a bit of extra protection for the wood at least it’s just I keep noticing them in these videos lol
All the running boards are coming off when I paint the wheels on the outside so they will be completely repainted top and bottom then! Hope you’re enjoying the series 👍
Well done Ollie...very enjoyable video. The brake van's coming on nicely.
Thanks for the kind words Tim👍👍
Thanks
Thank you so much for the donation Colin!
Great vid, I noticed you didn’t put any lubricant on any of those brake system pivot points.? Are they greasable? If not, won’t they just cease up with rust again eventually ?
I use grease and a copper lubricant, I’ll show it in the next video if I remember!
Have you tested the vacuum cylinder for the train brake yet? Just wondering how hard it would be to fix if seals gone
This is only through piped, so no cylinder. It will have air brakes fitted at a later date
@@WardleRestorations thanks for reply olly. Great video to watch as always. Regards from swanage and a 257 burning mainly dust today lol.
I do need to take a trip to Swanage some point! Maybe in the next couple of weeks 👍👍
