    Great restoration on this buddy. Tones sounded great, especially showing the boosted green channel on the 5150!

      Thanks man. The boosted green channel is where it’s at! Thanks for the that 3 in 1 oil tip by the way. I was ready to toss the tuners and buy new ones because they were so bad. Lol

    Ah yes, another man of culture who KNOWS the boosted green channel of a 5150 is best... lovely

      Green is where it's at. For years I always played the red, but once I figured out the magic of the boosted green I almost never touch the red anymore.

    • @WholeLottaBulldog
      @WholeLottaBulldog 2 года назад +1

      @@ScottBynoe me too, brother. Red is just too compressed, nasally and dark to me. I can see how that might work with v30 cabs but for more mellow speakers it doesn't imo

      Matt left Jackson guitars. Not gonna keep making a model for a non-endorsed artist

      That's awesome man! If you freeze at 0:39 you can see what my amp is set at. The overdriven tone is using the Green crunch channel boosted by a OD808. Here are my settings (also the cleans have a Strymon TimeLine and BigSky for the delay and reverb):
      Pre-gain: 4
      Low: 4.5
      Mid: 3
      High: 7.5
      Post gain: 1.5
      Res: 6
      Pres: 7.5

    Great video, but, I’m not sure about the “controversy” about a 22 fret rhoades model - they’re almost always 22 frets, they’re the one Jackson model that typically isn’t 24. Nice work restoring the ax back to its former glory!

    • @ScottBynoe
      @ScottBynoe  2 года назад

      Ya I know Randy originally wanted them 22 so a lot were. I just recall there being some controversy with this guitar. I thought it was the 22 frets or the lack of Floyd, I don't remember. Spec-wise it's fairly similar to Randy's except for the pickups and reverse headstock. But I do remember when it came out there was some negativity toward it. Or maybe my memory is garbage and I'm confusing it with something else (likely).

    In past i have guitar store and we have tons guitars. But only one was beast!!! I mean in metric quality/money- this guitar. Quality is same like ESP! I have USA Jackson and this axe was …. Better? Still this machine if you can!!!

    Where did you buy the guitar? I have been looking for one everywhere

  • @s.e.n3264

    I bought one about a month ago. Really loving it! But getting it to sound good is frustating. I'm finding that I have to drop the gain and mids, and severely scoop the low. Sonically, everything on this guitar is pushed to the max, except the highs. It also just might be my shitty little amp at home tho.

    • @ScottBynoe
      @ScottBynoe  2 года назад +1

      Your amp/speakers have so much to do with your tone. More so than your guitar IMO. What amp are you playing?

      Just a shitty little Vox VT50. I'm saving up for a real amp. The Jackson doesn't sound anything like my Les Paul does. Both have EMGs.

    Aaaw man, can't give you a like when you're playing the bass with a pick. Why dude, WHY?

    • @ScottBynoe
      @ScottBynoe  2 года назад

      Keeping it true to the original. Pretty sure the bass was done with a pick on the album. The odd times I play bass it’s usually with my fingers though.

    • @WholeLottaBulldog

      Bass with a pick sounds better.
